I love Costco. Just the thought of filling my cart with a huge package of chicken wings, some cartons of eggs, and some cheap wine just gets me excited. Pros: - buy in bulk and save in money... without sacrificing quality here - meat, vegetables, and fruit are always high quality - all of the spirits I have tried (wine, vodka, and tequila) with the Kirkland brand have been worth way more than their price tag** Cons: - **except the Kirkland craft beer, that stuff sucked - for some reason people enter the doors of this place and completely forget how to walk with a shopping cart. Idk if they're mesmerized by all the sweet deals or if they normally just don't care about the other humans around them, but wow. - I do not save money with a Costco membership. In reality, I end up buying more stuff than I need. But it makes me happy. Get a Costco membership, but don't walk around like you're the only person in the store with your shopping cart. read more

I was in the store with my wife on Wednesday May 8 in the middle of the afternoon. We were standing by the jewelry counter looking at jewelry and talking with two store associates when out of nowhere we were accosted by a Costco employee named Adam who began to belittle and berate us for no reason. This individual was extremely unprofessional, rude, obnoxious, insulting, intemperate, accusatory, belligerent, insensitive. He said we should have canceled our membership long ago and was very upset because we never canceled our membership and shopped at Costco stores in our area. He had absolutely no right to yell at us in front of the other store associates. We did nothing to warrant his uncontrolled outburst. My wife and I were completely shocked and embarrassed by his behavior. We had never experienced this type of abuse in any store before and we are livid that he did what he did and has gotten away with it. We spoke to the regional VP but he didn't appear to care or indicate that he would follow up and reprimand his employee. My wife and I several years ago were asked to refrain from buying jewelry because of the amount of returns that we had. The reason for the returns is because Costco doesn't allow you to try on the item before you buy. The sets of earrings that were purchased hurt my wife's ears due to the large posts on the back of the earrings. She didn't think to have the posts replaced but returned them instead. This store employee (Adam) took it upon himself to get in our faces and try to intimidate us from not purchasing anything from the store. My wife and I had never been so embarrassed and angry in all of our lives. This behavior must be addressed and corrected immediately. That is no way to treat customers. If we were causing a disturbance or walked out of the store without paying for items I would be fine with being approached and asked to leave or pay for the items. We were minding our own business and this employee (Adam) thought he was lord and master of the store and he was determined to make us know how important he was. He acted inappropriately and is incapable of good customer service. He needs to be retrained, reeducated or terminated. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this Costco and watch out for Adam as he does not know how to interact with customers. read more

This Costco does not believe in guest service or I see 3! Their expectations of guest service is to wait in line. While guest are registering for Costco cards! Which is ridiculous when the guest is using some sort of iPad, typing in their own information. I asked the employee can someone just give me my numbers, I don't have my card! With a very nasty tone and look of being disgusted! She said yea, I can after I take care of these two people ahead of you! Mine you it's going on 7 min now that I've been waiting. Why have cooked food if you need to roll the dice on whether it's available? On 4 different occasions I went to this Costco to pick up their cooked ribs for lunch. On the 4th time I asked "when can I actually get these ribs?" I was told come back tomorrow between 11 and noon and we'll have them. Well, next day I arrive at 11:15 and when I ask where the ribs are the guy behind the counter shakes his head. Uh, that wasn't a yes or no question. But, okay - "when will they be available?" And, I'm told "come back in 1 hour." I'm pretty upset by now... I ask for the manager and explain that this shouldn't be a lottery - either have them or don't have them. He says "call back next time you want them and I'll reserve some for you." I called in about 14 minutes ago and I'm still on hold to reach him. Worse Costco store ever! I have few issues with Costco. The staff are rude, the seafood is not fresh on top of that they scam you for signing up a credit card. Issue #1 I was persuaded by the staff to sign up for Citi Costco card that I can get 4% rebate at ANY gas station. after I received my card and I notice the fine print states it is only at Costco location. I got scam by them. Issue #2 I purchased a Texas de brazil gift card from them before the covid and I didn't have chance to use it until Aug 2020. I was told by the restaurant that the card wasn't activated. I went to Costco and explain everything to the staff and was told that I didn't purchase this card from them. when I ask for the manage and the manager Garry give me this attitude and told me that he can't find my transaction on his system. I waited 30min for him to show up and he didn't even bother check his computer and simply tell me that I didn't purchase this gift card from them. if you ever buy gift card from Costco make sure you keep your receipt until you use it. I have only been here a few times because I'm not a member and thus have to limit my visits to when someone I know has a Costco card is going and willing to let me tag along. I know I should get a membership but I also know that if I had one I prob would never go... and to be honest, It's just me and my cat and the need for things in bulk isn't really there. I went today and beside it being semi-crowded, it was a fairly enjoyable experience. The top things I got that are worth mentioning are these AWESOME & HUGE kites. One is a 4 foot Elephant and one is a 5 foot dragon/cyclops in super cool colors that's really elaborate. I thought they were going to be marked as $50 but was pleasantly surprised when they were only $12 each... INSANE! There were a number of other exciting items... oh one of them were discounted movie tickets to the AMC- rock on! My only complaints: They take all debit cards but they only take credit from American Express and they are SEVERELY lacking in cart corrals. There are carts everywhere in the parking lots because the cart corrals that are there are unidentifiable because there are no signs and unless you're parked directly next to the designated area you absolutely won't see them. Go there but be weary of your cars safety in the parking lot... loose carts are rampant. read more

I love this Costco. You can find me there every Sunday, and sometimes throughout the week. The prices are great and I have found that it is much cleaner than Sam's Club with a better selection. If you like to buy in bulk, this is the place to do so. They have an excellent alcoholic beverage section with so many different wine, liquor and beer to choose from. I love going to Costco before parties because you can always find great desserts and party trays to bring to friends' houses! They also have samples of food throughout the store so you can try new products that they are selling. I go there to buy cases of water, large bags of dehydrated fruit and trail mix, power bars, cases of soda, and raw meat (their bone-in pork chops are excellent)! The staff are friendly for the most part. No one goes out of their way to ask you if you need help, but if you ask them for help they are nice about it and will guide you in the right direction. I like the fact that no one is bothering me while I am trying to shop though. My absolute favorite part about Costco is the little cafe area where you can get pizza, hot dogs, non-fat yogurt sundaes, pulled pork sandwiches, salads, calzones, turkey sandwiches, and churros! You can get a hot dog and drink for $1.50!! Where else are you going to find that deal? Their supreme pizza is my absolute favorite. Pizza by the slice is $2.00 and you can get a large pizza that could feed a family of 4-5 people for $8.99!! It's awesome! The reason I gave it four stars rather than five is because of the parking and the crowds. I filled my car up once at their gas station and that was a mistake. I waited in line for over 25 minutes to get gas and once you are in line, you are stuck. There is no getting out. The parking is ridiculous on the weekends. Good luck finding a spot or a shopping cart. It is also hard to maneuver around the store on the weekends also. Everyone has these giant, over-sized carts and they are trying to squeeze by each other in the aisles. Trying to get a sample is not even worth it. People are surrounding the sample tables like vultures just waiting for the employees to set out the food samples and they refuse to move their carts out of your way if you are trying to get by in fear that you may be trying to cut them in line. The samples are good, but not THAT good. Also, you must be a member to shop there. I think it was $60 dollars for a basic membership, but that is really all you need. And that was for myself and my husband. Also you need to have cash to pay for any food you want in the cafe area. Do not make the mistake of getting up there and ordering all of this delicious food and then trying to hand them a credit card. They ONLY accept cash. read more

Best Xmas present ever... yearly membership. Nine times out of ten, they're the best gas price around. Always friendly staff and the food court is a must. Love the Chicken Caesar Salad, and a $1.50 dog and drink. The whole pizza is a great deal too. Food court is open to the public. Cash only. A complete rotisserie chicken for $4.99 is must for every cart. Let it cool and the thing falls apart in your hands. I always get three meals out of it. You can always find what you think you need here, at drop dead prices. If you've never seen the video of behind the scenes of this company, than that's why you miss out on the value. My TV purchase saved me the cost of membership and the "hassle free" returns and warranty is breaking into a Utopian Nation. I didn't buy mine here, but their optical department is impressive. You can spend $100 on meat and two can eat for the month and the quality is just amazing. Ribs are a must! Don't be surprised when you think you overspent... you just saved that much more. Okay, so I'm a Costco parasite. That is, I have never had a membership myself but lived off the largess of others (formerly family and now a friend with a card). Honestly though, I don't need most things in bulk or have the storage space if I bought it. That said, for things you might like in mass quantities, Costco has good brands (including their home brand, Kirklands) and nice prices. You can also get things like electronics, tires, and eyeglasses here! At the holidays this is the place to be. Gift cards, movie tickets, everything you need to entertain (they have TONS of wine), and then there's always something like the nine-foot teddy bears...(how are those getting home?) You can eat at the (incredibly cheap) cafe without being a member (it's in front of the checkout lanes): $1 for a huge slice of great pizza, yum! And don't forget the churros... My only complaint is that this place is INSANE on the week-ends. That goes for the brains-optional parking outside, as well as the distracted cart speed-racers inside. (Oh, and be polite about the samples, people. They're free, and you get one.) Note for those of you who never carry cash: They previously only accepted American Express, but will soon be changing that to Visa! Overall, Costco is a cost-effective choice for your shopping needs, with a variety of services under one roof to make the membership more meaningful if you don't need, say, three bottles of barbecue sauce at one go. Ahhh Costco, I have such a love/hate relationship with you! Ok so I keep coming back here even though I sort of hate this place. Things I like: -Optical center is SO worth it. I got my glasses and contacts here super cheap and I will be coming back. -Food court. Not so healthy items but they're quick and cheap. It's nice to get a tasty slice of pizza before I head in to a shopping adventure. Never go shopping on an empty tummy. -Good deals, sometimes... There are items here that are def. cheaper. But other things I think are comparable to Target or Walmart. -We got a GREAT deal on a lovely vacation package to Punta Cana! Loved it and saved a lot of $$$$. Things I don't like so much: -People NEVER put their F-ing carts away. Costco -- You NEED to make more spaces for people to put their carts away in the parking lot. Beware, because your car is almost certain to get damaged because people are too lazy to walk 15 feet to put it away. ARGHHH! -They almost need a traffic controller for all the people in there. Given the fact that there are huge carts and large families here will guarantee that someone will cut you off while you are walking inside this store. It's unavoidable really. - Long lines. So there it is. I will keep coming back because my husband loves this store for all it offers. But I know I will definitely be annoyed as can be whilst I'm inside this huge box. read more

I stopped by today to go to the optical, they had one staff member taking care of the vision center, the waiting was very long ... after waiting a long time finally someone came to help her and I was next on line and she was pushing me all the time to hurry up and pick my glasses ... this is something I will have to wear for a very long time so you don't want to make the wrong decision on this and she was just desperate to move on and go to the next person I believe that the vision service should be something more personalized ... I've been a member for many years, and have always felt the quality of products was good as well as the prices. Love the quality of their meats, but hate that I have to buy in such large quantity that I need to freeze half. Same with many of their products; you're buying in bulk. Works great for non perishable items, like cleaning products, paper products, etc. But food, not so much. Usually their produce has been reliable, but lately the Clementines and bananas are either over ripe or downright spoiled. I now buy half my produce and meats elsewhere. And don't even get me started on the huge quantities of cheese you need to buy.... If you're feeding an army, this place is great. We asked for a price adjustment from three different individuals at the membership desk and was told it was not in accordance with store policy. I love Costco....always. But I hope that they read reviews of individual locations. This one was just filthy! I got gas and then zipped in to use the facilities.....the bathroom had odds and ends, toilet paper and other things strewn throughout the ladies room. Then, I decided to get a hot dog, while I was in line another lady went to the counter and said they were out of onions, after I got my order I realized that there wasn't even an onion dispenser out and BOTH of the Deli Mustard dispensers were empty. When I asked if I just wasn't seeing the onions, I was given some in a small cup....but when I mentioned that both dispensers were empty, the girl just said "oh." Then turned her back and walked away. The final straw was that I could not find ONE table that wasn't dirty....so I grabbed some napkins myself, wet them with water and wiped down the one that I wanted to sit at myself! I love Costco, and even seek them out when I'm traveling, to stock up on drinks and snacks. As a result, I've been to probably a dozen different locations within the past year alone. I think it's fair to say I have become a Costo connoisseur. My journeys have really caused me to realize how little I like the one in Naperville. This Costco is the closest one to my home so breaking away has been a long time coming, but I have made the decision to go slightly out of my way to the Bolingbrook store instead. Perhaps it's my imagination, but Naperville seems smaller, and as a result many of the products I gravitate towards are frequently rotated in and out of stock. I know this is the nature of Costco, but there are certain items that I know sell well enough to be staples, but still vanish without a trace, only to be replaced by something I have no interest in. I highly recommend checking out Bolingbrook instead for both consistency and better variety. They also have a much more child friendly parking lot with a designated walking lane in the middle of the parking spaces. There are far too many bargain hunting nut cases that would run you over if it meant they could get that last patio set. read more

I was very disappointed After I purchased $900 tires online and Booked an appointment for installation, when I showed up 15 minutes earlier for my appointment they didn't want to install them, they said they need 4 hours for my car to install the tires lol! Two of my daughters have purchased tires from Costco. In one instance they did not tighten the bolts all the way. Fortunately my daughter was close to home and had a friend tighten them. They were very loose. Upon pointing this out they merely gave her some money off for membership. That's extremely dangerous. My other daughter has had problems with a tire leaking air. She's been there numerous times and they don't fix it. The hassle of waiting in line each time is frustrating. Who does risk management for Costco? Either of these situations could have been deadly. My wife and I love the store, the staff and the products. The only annoyance is the other shoppers. I never felt like this at other stores. People just don't get the concept of not blocking the isles. In the store, they let their kids run around and stand in the way. They stop their carts in the middle of the isle, blocking everyone. In the parking lot, every time their are just people parked next to the door blocking the walkway. They are there when I arrive and still the same ones when I leave. The staff should get out there and make them move before someone gets hit by a car. I will always shop here, but trying to figure out the best time to go. read more

we bought an LG TV from Costco in Bolingbrook. we also purchased the extended warranty when we purchased the TV. that warranty is provided through Allstate . Thewarranty covers year 3,4 and 5. Our TV is 3 years old and stopped working. we contacted Allstate and went through their reset instructions and the TV still doesn't work. Phoned Allstate a total of 4 times with the same result. NOTHING!! we called Costco and spoke to a supervisor in electronics. He stated that the store now is out of the picture and we had to deal with Allstate! I explained our contacts with Allstate and we were getting no resolution. He apologized but said all he could do was email his manager but that the store was not liable in any way. BITTOM LINE: we are now sitting with a 3 year old LG tv that has an extended warranty and we still can't watch it!!! Just ordered a new TV FROM ABT!!! BUYER BEWARE AND BE EDUCATED! read more

I want to say that the mechanics in the auto center are the best. I had an issue with a tire (not their own) and were very helpful in determining the issue and replacing the tire with a new tire. SAM's club is probably the biggest competitor, and honestly they are just Walmart. Their options aren't that good. If you live in other states you may have some other options, like BJ's. Bigger isn't always better. I visited Sam's Club and Costco within an hour and that was one huge difference. Costco is bigger, has wider space between the aisles and walk ways. But rather than your line of sight being drawn to merchandise, you're more likely to notice how crowded it is. It's like "oh look, there's a commotion over some deals over yonder!" I paid for contacts but they didn't have them in. I was told they would be ordered. I followed up in a few weeks and was told they had no paperwork showing that I paid for contacts/none were ordered! I had to speak to about 4 people including the manager and prove that I did indeed pay for contacts, that were not in stock. Apparently the sales lady did not order them and she lost the paperwork as well! Luckily I had my copy of the receipt, that I made the sales lady write on saying I was waiting for my contacts! Good thing I was thinking ahead, or I'd have no proof. Also I was told, before I even scheduled the appointment, that they took my insurance just like the eye doctor, but actually it was a much smaller percentage. I was in the store and I saw these delicious looking muffins. I have always come here even when I was a young child and I have always been pleased with their customer service and their cleanliness I also enjoy the deals they have such as the 2 box of muffins for $7. This time I very much enjoyed them because the cook had recently pulled them out and there was a joyful amount of chocolate chucks in each and every muffin. I am also very pleased on how the cashiers handle the amount of customers filling their lines but they talk to each customer with respect, cheerful attitude, and are helpful to all. This is not one of three Coscto's I regularly go for stuff. Came here as it was on the way to our picnic. Products and layout are mostly same as others. I could review on the customer service which sucked a big time here. Actually, I was a by-stander at the time. I was returning an item while one lady on my left was trying to get her coupon book. The staff behind the counter asked her for the membership card. While she was looking her membership up in the system, she was giving a lecture to her:. "You know you could only have one coupon book. I could give you one extra but definitely not the second one." With the big rolling eyes. The poor customer was not so great in English, I guess, all I could hear was mumbling something like "OK" or "I could not find it ...." WTF, it is a COUPON book, for god's sake. That's used for the promotion. If you are out of it, you are out. if not, just give it to her. You might have a policy about how many one member could get. But you could explain this in a much nicer way. The attitude of that staff was totally unpleasant. I have been asking Coupon books at Oak brook, Bolingbrook, MelRose park locations and never had any issue and nobody asked me for a membership card. No, I am not going back to this location. I trust I'll get a full meal's worth of samples if I show up at the right time. I expect to wait in a longish line to check out. Moved back to suburbs from Chicago and started coming to Costco. Big difference from the city Costco. I was used to fresh produce and many organic options. Naperville and Boringbrook locations are the worst anything you take is rotten. You actually have to go through 5 boxes to find anything decent. This weeken i could not even get one box of spring mix salad. The whole pallet was bad. How dare they put this produce for people. I just waisted my time threre. Even if you fing something that looks good it spoils in couole days. Like these peaches when i got them they were hard as rock. I decided to keep them on counter for couple days.
