Went to get a price check for 4 new tires on my car and was in and out under 20 mins. Martha at the service desk was very polite and knowledgeable. She had all the answers to my questions and even set me up with an appointment tomorrow to have my tires inspected and have the ones that are most worn down- replaced !! I like this place. It's a little busy at times but it's great overall. Staff are friendly, food is always stocked, and the facility is clean. I'm always greeted at the door when I enter. The food is always fully stocked and in the usual spots on the shelves. The floor, shelves, and tables are always clean including the restaurant out front. I recommend them if you really want an easy and fast shopping experience. Also, the staff at self checkout is very proactive. I like that they are always helping shoppers. It speeds up the line. This Costco was definitely cleaner & less people than the Southbay. But I found their host to be kind of rude. He asked me for my membership card & then made sure to point out that I wouldn't be allowed to shop there without it that he Needed to be sure I belonged there. What the heck? In front of my college kid. Definitely not needed I was going to show my card anyways --anywho. I hate throwing out the race card but be mindful of this place. The place is very clean. This is my local Costco and I am always happy to go in to try the samples and the staff are great. The location is in a key shopping center, but the parking isn't least the easiest. Not once have they not had something I went to buy not be in stock. Every year we get a Christmas tree from their lot and I think I've probably had over 50 hot dogs in my lifetime at this store alone. The key downfall, is the lack of a gas station. Yes, I say this because the prices for gas in the area are exorbitant due to UCSB customers and price gouging, Costco could just blow all the competition away. I visited Costco a least twice a month and spend over 500 dollars in groceries. About 2 months ago I have a bad experience with the food handlers that stand my the aisles and let you try the product. I happened to try some candy and I immediately disliked it . I comment about it: " I don't like it " and dispose to the trash near by . The gentleman who was handling the samples told me " well you shouldn't have take it " you are wasteful. On my way out I told one of the managers about and he told me that it was nothing to do about it because it was a third party vendor. Today I took my friend shopping and we got a car full of groceries after a 20 minutes wait for our turn ; we encounter "Chambers" a person who was helping the cashier putting in and out the groceries. I am súper pregnant and tired already and I start putting the groceries on the band and this gentleman "Chambers " commented:" you need to start putting the all the groceries in a rude way, I apologize and filled the whole band as faster as I could. I don't know if "Chambers was having a bad day or maybe he needed a break but I was just exhausted after a trip to the urgent care and I asked him if he could just help me with the heavy items . Chambers was the most pretentious and rude and I asked him to stop being a rude person. He just walked away from the check out line . I asked the cashier: what was happening. He ignored me and the supervisor walked in to help the cashier finishing the check out . They start gossiping about it and no one apologized. I am cancelling my membership and never coming back again. Chamber needs to have a customer service training along with his supervisor. read more

When I road trip I stop at so many Costcos. The best place for gas, a quick trip to the restroom, a salad or something else from the deli section. Not this Costco. No gas. Bathrooms closed and everyone is compelled to use an expensive restroom trailer that doesn't have enough water pressure to flush a piece of toilet paper, and was badly in need of servicing. Lived here a few years. It's nice having a Costco that isn't super crowded all the time. But that's probably where the positives end. Have had multiple problems with employees here. Not accepting valid ID for alcohol purchases. And there's a very big guy that works in the food court that was incredibly rude for no reason. Went to the window to ask about a pizza I had called in. (1st time ever calling in). I said "Hi I called in a Pizza-" Then he cut me off mid-sentence and decided to make a snarky comment "Well you know you have pay for it right?" then walked off. Also I didn't have membership renewed one time and needed to buy alcohol (you don't need a Costco membership to buy alcohol in CA.) Was told I need to get a slip from the help desk to checkout with. The lady at the desk was incredibly rude and kept trying to tell me I shouldn't be doing this and instead just buy a membership right now. Pros: 1. Steps away from a Tesla Supercharger 2. Not too crowded and short lines at the cashier when I went 3. Driving South back to LA, we could not find a restroom anywhere. The state beaches required $10 parking to use theirs, and many restaurants don't let you inside anymore due to Covid. Costco saved the day! 4. Cashier was more friendly than normal (often at other Costcos they seem grumpy). Cons: 1. Lady checking the receipt at the exit commented on how expensive my Dyson vacuum was. Employees are clearly not empowered to deal with anything at all. For a first time visit it did not leave me with a great first impression. My last trip to Costco was a negative experience, so I'd decided not to ever return! The cashier's assistant was extremely RUDE to my husband and me. I called the store and complained regarding the disrespect for senior citizens. So, today I hesitated on walking in the door! When at the checkout, I looked around and never saw the guy that disrespected us and he wasn't anywhere around. A sweet, happy, energetic, gal named Alma smiled and greeted us with her "Sparkling" personality! She interacted joyfully and was polite, friendly and acted like she loved her job! She carefully boxed our merchandise as she spoke to us with respect and concern for our wellbeing. We left with JOY in our heart that this was a very PLEASANT experience! So funny that Costco has 4 stars on Yelp. Understandable if one is comparing it to a fine dining establishment, but it's Costco. The most appropriate category in my mind would be "Costcos". So this Costco, relative to other Costcos, is great. It was even better when you could feed your family dinner by grabbing samples, but it's still Covid. 4/23/2022 Before you shop at Costco I would suggest checking prices at Smart and Final online first. I just found a product $2.00 less at Smart and Final than what Costco was charging. Return #1 Awesome. Easy returns. That's why we shop here!! just returned to sewing machine that I realize we have not opened and it was sitting in our cupboard for the last 11 months. Return with no problem. Return #2 Well this is unusual but I am changing my review and I did today from five stars to two stars. Why? I had forgotten something and had to go out to the car and bring it in to return. It was still an easy return but the person made me feel very guilty about doing it. There's no reason why I should have to feel this way. I was Patrick Lee scolded for doing so. When I went in first I ended up buying a $400 Dyson realizing it would replace need $169 hand held Dyson I had bought before which was in the truck. Decent Costco, it's really busy and they run out of stuff from time to time. The dairy room is really cool, but also hella cold! Employees sometimes seem like they would rather be somewhere else but it's cool as long as the lines are moving. Samples are always on point, which I like. Beer selection is decent. There is a particular employee at this store, an older gentleman with prominent gray stripes dyed into his hair, who needs to 1) stop touching items in customer carts, and 2) stop trying to micromanage people who use self-checkout. This employee was helping in the self-checkout lanes. This is good if someone needs help using self-checkout or has a large item that needs to be hand-scanned. However, AFTER we were completely done (after paying, we were transferring items from tray to cart), this employee came over and tried to tell us that we couldn't put our box of grapes into a plastic bag because it was supposed to be used for bread. He said we had to use the other type of plastic bags. Well, first of all, the item was *not* bagged when I scanned it, and I made sure to scan the *correct* UPC label on the actual item. Secondly, you can't control the type of bag I choose to put my groceries into AFTER I've already paid. The whole reason we use self-checkout is so that we can checkout on our own. We don't need someone micromanaging how we choose to bag our groceries *after* we're done. read more

The workers in the back end are amazing, the wine Dept is amazing BUT The cashiers are VERY rude, the previous visit The cashier was yelling at us for offloading the boxes...I couldn't believe it, she obviously has Zero training in customer service...I was so posses off when I left. Today, the line was long and a new cashier opened and they let the women behind me to go ahead in front of me..this time I stood up and said no..that's not right. Overall the cashiers are the rudest in the industry and needs to be corrected in 3 ways: 1. Hire cashier personalities that are kind, not rude 2. Train them and keep them accountable, in current state their passively supervised not actively .. the supervisor should be catching these rise consistent behaviors 3. Rehire Supervisors in the front end, in current state they have no idea how to train Overall you guys really suck for placing me and my family with racism and gross rudeness. Good Costco in a somewhat crappy parking lot. I guess that's not unusual for Costco but this is definitely a crowded lot that you'll be crawling through before you find a space. At least when I visit on weekends. Most recently I came here to get my eyes checked and buy new glasses. Very happy with that experience. Treated with kindness and professionalism. Glasses are working out for me great and the price was fantastic considering I didn't use insurance. Very affordable. I was able to get a pair of regular glasses and also prescription sunglasses. Let us in to shop after checking our Costco card, no issues there. When we go to checkout after shopping for 45 minutes, they then tell us that we cannot use the card because it's not ours. Always crowded but somehow I always am able to get in and out in a timely manner. They always have what I need, and I love that this location has a self checkout! The food court is outside, which makes getting out after checkout easier. The shopping center is usually crowded, so trying to find close parking is sometimes a challenge. This review is for one experience with a Samsung product purchased through Costco, The gas Samsung stove we ordered online was installed without the required pipe joint compound...the "gentleman" insisted that since the NPT fitting was new, it didn't need any...he NEVER uses it and had none on his truck. I had to reinstall it with teflon tape after he left. It was so tight that it took a 2' breaker bar to unscrew. He also had no way of checking for leaks or a level. Although Costco specified that our old stove would be hauled away, the delivery company refused, resulting in a Christmas with our old stove as a centerpiece for a family reunion. I had to arrange for haul away down a flight of stairs on my own (Costco promises to reimburse me for my out of pocket expenses). As the new stove has a problem, I spent several hours arranging for a service person to come and fix it...Jan 3 was the first available appointment. read more

Costco never fails to impress me. Whenever I think of Costco, I think of having to buy a two-pack of gallon-sized mayonnaise. Is that necessary for a one-person household? No! However, there are a multitude of other items that you don't necessarily have to buy in bulk. I love how Costco offers a limited selection of merchandise. Don't get me wrong, the store is full to the brim, but there isn't much of a selection when narrowing in on one particular item. I don't mind as the items offered tend to be of quality. I appreciate how friendly the staff are at this location, and how many of them have been employed there for years and years. Two or three of my friends' mothers were hired here in 2000 when it first opened, and still work there to this day. I'd have to guess that the corporation takes care of their employees. Must be the reason they are always so cheerful! I don't come here often, but when I do, I enjoy it. read more

I go once a week to buy food for 3 teenage boys and it's the highlight of my week: 4 gallons of whole milk, 4 dozen eggs, 4 lbs bacon, 2 loaves bread and bagels, etc. Kirkland products are just excellent all around, and the wine section has so many good local wines. Since the food court has been decimated by ungodly forces, I definitely canceled my membership. Ilove a few items from here, but i leave it for my friends/family to grab and share memberships. Since it doesnt make sense to have on with a household of 3 or less people with their quantity sizes. The food court definitely made all the difference for $60 a year. Lol. read more
