I tried to get glasses at this location and was unable to. The optometrist mentioned her staff had all called in sick and struggled with my right eye measurement eventually landing on a prescription. I chose my frames and came back when they were ready. I tried them on and mentioned blurry vision in my right eye. The tech said eyes work in pairs and said it was normal. I maintained that something was wrong. She suggested I talk to the optometrist which I agreed. The optometrist had gone home for the day. I then left without taking the glasses thinking it would be easier to process a return if I never accepted defective goods because technically they were already paid. I came back when the optometrist was available. She never checked my eyes and sent me back to the techs. After telling them my vision was still blurry in my right eye they suggested processing a return. While processing the return I found notes left by the original tech that weren't exactly accurate that didn't exactly describe me in a favorable light. Everyone I encountered seemed a bit overworked and unprofessional. At a different location I even witnessed a tech yell at a customer saying "you have to use your phone to check in dear! Phones... they really are the way of the future!" I was cordial, I never cut anyone off. I communicated what I was seeing. I was nothing but respectful the entire time. I decided on a complete return only after they suggested it. I will not be buying glasses from Costco in the future. It's clear they don't pay or appreciate their staff enough for them to care and get something done right. read more

we visited the Cosco store in Bloomfield Twp, Michigan where a terrific sales person helped us decide what type of TV to get. He even went on line and helped us select the one that we wanted. we then went on line, ordered it and it was just delivered. What a wonderful experience! From the sales person in the store, to the ease of navigating the website to the delivery process which was right on time with many periodic advice notices as it was on the way to us---absolutely first rate service---- let's only hope that the TV which we selected works as well as the service received by Cosco. This is by far the worse Costco and should be avoided at all costs. I have no complaints for any of the Costco employees at this warehouse, they have always been helpful and courteous. My main complaint is beyond their control, it's the clientele. I have yet to visit this warehouse without being almost hit by a vehicle in front of the warehouse, or encounter a rude, selfish jerk inside. Today's trip to the Livonia Costco on Middlebelt was a trip to hell. It started with having to yield for someone blowing a stop sign and getting honked at by the driver behind me for doing so. Then I was almost hit on the pedestrian crosswalk trying to enter the warehouse. With three items in my cart, I placed it in a low traffic area close to the restroom, when I came back the three items were put on a shelf close to where I left the cart as an a$$hole took my cart, so I had to go back to the entrance and get another cart. I went to Costco mainly for the Nature's Domain Turkey Stew canned dog food & Vet Treats pill pockets and for the third time in a row they didn't have them, though family members have found them at other Costco's; it was then that I decided never to return to this Costco. That decision was sealed by yet another a$$hole Costco shopper who pushed past me whilst I was struggling to place a 35# bag of dog food into my cart causing me to drop the bag. The younger, able-bodied looking man offered no assistance and when I said "seriously?" his flippant reply was that he said excuse me and that I was in his way. That was the last straw, so I left the bag on the floor, items in the cart and walked out empty handed. read more

Costco as a company treats their customers like crap. They have always expected customers to wait in horrendous long check out lines. Then customers wait in long lines to leave. It's impossible to grab/steal and the extra item on the way out so that receipt check is simply to cover their own employees incompetence. Now they expect you to wait in line to enter the store because the want u to scan your membership card on the way in. They station and employee at each of the two scanners to "watch". Why are they doing this when u need you card to check out? Greed. Greed. Greed. They are cracking down on membership sharing. I don't give a shit if some poor college kid used Mom's card or a single person who can't justify paying a membership fee uses a friend's card. Costco shouldn't be so greedy and shouldn't be inconveniencing their customers to another ridiculous degree just because they want to catch a few people without memberships. I also have a Sam's club membership for my business. I HiGHLY recommend Sam's over Costco. Costco used to have better products but they are very comparable now. Best of all they have great hours open early/late, open when you expect retail to be open and you NEVER HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE!!!! You can use their app to scan each item and pay with to the app. You walk thru an archway that detects your payment and if you bought just a few things they wave you by...if your cart is full they quickly scan a few items and send u on your way. No employee staring at your cart trying to count or digging around. It's a great shopping experience. It's just too bad Costco can't catch up to Sam's club in this area. It feels like they are just to arrogant to care. I think encourage those who live near a Sam's to give it try. Store was fine, until I got to register. I had an item that would not scan. There was a place on screen to ask for assistance and light was already blinking, waited, waited and waited!!! Noticed the attendant(male)was too busy talking to another attendant (female), ( they were deep in conversation, laughing and joking). The male attendant on the side I was on got very rude once I interrupted their conversation to get assistance. The male attendant name Lucas threw my items around and was very mean, just because I took him away from laughing and joking with his female co-worker. I like this Costco as it is a bustling and friendly place to go.  The staff and management here are engaged, though the last time I was here there was this one guy dressed in a Tiger's shirt that looked like he was somewhere else.  He was the one looking at people's membership cards too, so, it was strange seeing all these people holding their cards out to him and he was just staring out into space.  People were waving their cards at him until they got tired of it and just went right on in.  Weird. They do have a great selection here.  Lots of fresh farm vegetables and fruit.  This same last time I was here they had samples going all over the store.  We tried quite a few things and then bought them too.  I liked what I was seeing in the fresh fish area.  Lots of farm raised fish from the United States.  That was very good.  The parking lot is a little crazy.  This last time, however, it wasn't too busy so it wasn't too bad.  When it is busy, though, watch out!  Really, watch out!  I don't know what it is about that Costco parking lot but driving skills seem to decline the closer anyone gets to the front door.  One pet peeve about this location is that lots of customer just leave their buggies all over the place.  A very popular nexus for the carts is the sidewalk along the building so if you walking with kids or older adults - you might end up risking it walking along the backs of the cars in the parking lot because it's no fun climbing over the carts that are jammed up against the wall. I had a nice time here and one of the special salespeople on the floor explained to me lots of other advantages of being with Costco so I was glad I went. read more

When my rebate check was damaged I went in store to request a new one. The customer service rep seemed uninterested in my needs, jotting down some notes on a sticky then without much interaction or instruction, she looks up at me and says "You're good.... ", set the sticky note down and walked away. That was about 2 months ago, so I contacted Costco Chat to inquire about my check. The employee at the membership desk never put my request in. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE TODAY. Not many people are wearing masks in stores once inside and away from workers and people are practically on top of eachother. The parking lot was an absolute nightmare. Im sure people get hit all the time. Inside You have to wait to go down the isles there are so many people Its Packed!! People keep telling me that its fine to use someones costco card &/or go with someone to costco but today someone took me to costco and i purchased just a few items .. just to see if im interested in a membership well they ended up charging ME for my order AND the other person's order (I asked TWICE if We had Two separate cards if thats OK - he said yes. now we are standing here it's been 30 mins sorting it out. My card has fraud protection on it so having to swipe it so many times to refund me its locked me out of my account... plus after this has gone on for a bit Ive also noticed the cashier has charged me double for some of the items.. They really seem to be trying to push away potential customers btw there are Way more people in here than I have been around in the last NINE MONTHS Do they enforce capacity..?? This is the worst experience Ive had anywhere since March 2020 when the pandemic began. I don't know how these people work here.. id quit. I can't imagine that they are cleaning or sanitising anything & the workers Must have covid - what do they just keep coming to work?? Lines are also Super long. I will stick with Walmart. This is a Costco like any other Costco, built with a sea of surface parking lots. In that parking lot, you can get run over by a guy driving a gigantic pickup truck with a "thin blue line" flag sticker on the back as he owns the libs by consuming prodigious amounts of foreign oil in his liberty machine. You can get run over by a boomer wearing a MAGA hat. You can get honked at for crossing the parking lot in a marked crosswalk! On the inside, it's a regular Costco store, like any other Costco store. What separates this one in particular, in my experience, is the excessively long lines. This is annoying given the fact that Costco membership costs money and Costco customers generate lots of profit for the company-- why not, uh, I don't know, improve the checkout system? One nice thing is that you can now order Costco stuff delivered to your house. They are still working out the kinks, but it means I don't have to set foot in an RTA opt-out suburb so often. read more

What what what?! No polish dog? But what's this? Bratwurst!? Yes folks, for everyone else living in the West coast of the US, there's no such thing as bratwurst in the Costco Food Court. So I HAD to try it. What's the verdict? It's smaller than the hotdog and the polish. It does have good flavor, more peppery, and has more of a bite to the casing which is a plus. I kind of do like it more than the polish, but it's significantly smaller. Other than the food court, the rest of the Costco is fairly standard and has a large parking lot. It pains me to give them four stars, because I hate shopping here (any Costco really). But in all fairness, they do a good job keeping the place clean and well stocked, and have some solid deals throughout. My wife and I are a family of just two, and we have small appetites, so we don't shop here much for food since it's impossible to buy anything in a reasonable portion. However, we love how affordable things like pet food, medicine, and paper products are. Oh and beer! They normally have at least a handful of 24ct case of craft bottles - either variety packs or straight favorites. Sadly, this location doesn't sell any liquor as the result of a dumb city ordinance which restricts its sale to liquor stores (you won't find liquor at any grocery stores in Livonia). Sample stations are fairly plentiful, albeit slow to restock. Employees do their job but don't expect them to go above and beyond. Possibly my favorite part of Costco is the cheap gas. My car takes premium, so it's really nice to save 40¢+ per gallon when I need to fill up. The one-way flow of traffic through the pumps makes the line move nice and quick too. read more

I'm new to the Costco world but have felt pretty welcomed at this location. Not everything here is a good deal, but plenty of things are. Even though it's just me and my husband in our house, we still find plenty of things to buy here. Our favorite items are the Einstein Bros bagels. You get to choose two sleeves of six fresh bagels apiece and it's only $6. They also sell discounted gift cards, which are a great deal if you dine out or give them as gifts. This location is always crowded, so keep that in mind if you visit on a weekend. The samples are always flowing and the selection is vast so I don't mind. Pro tip... You don't need a membership to shop Costco's alcohol selection, which is usually greatly discounted over usual liquor store prices. read more

Went to Costco for the first time since my husband brought a card. Now I am a Sam Club baby but I was excited to see the inventory difference. At this point in my life I'm having a baby so my focus was mainly on baby items such as diapers. Sams Club brand diapers are cheaper than the Kirkland Brand. How about a 9 dollar difference. Costco's baby selection is better than Sams Club. Love the clothing choices in general. Overall I'm still a Sams Club lover fan. But it's worth the membership. read more

Let me begin by saying I love the Costco experience--I just despise this location. Yes, it's generally the cheapest of the two in Livonia for fuel and yes, it is easier to access on some occasions given how busy Haggerty and I-275 can be, but I really think this place needs a management team that just takes charge and gets rid of so many bad eggs. I have heard story after story about rude behavior and attitudes from the staff. I myself will never return anything at that location for fear I may disturb one of the customer service people trying to catch up on the latest gossip. If I shop there, it's usually an anxious experience just wondering how some random employee with no fear of sanction will ruin my shopping experience. I hope management one day realizes that you put the angry troll not at the entry way, but in the back, if not the unemployment line. Costco is consistently listed as one of the best places to work in the US. They are very generous to their staff, yet they tolerate bad attitudes? At a customer-oriented, service provider? By comparison, the staff at the Haggerty location are kind, helpful, and many will even look at one's membership card and address members by name. That is the level of service I have come to expect from the brand. It will not be provided at the Middlebelt location. read more

Just got back from there 30 min ago...and here is my take on it. It is a Costco, like other Costco's, a cookie cutter of a thousand others I am sure. The lines and surges of people are NO different at this place than any other, just as the mistakes that can happen are no different either, and parking is no different either. That being said I have never had an issue at this location, IN FACT prior to becoming a member, a relative bought a really nice coffee maker in a West Palm Beach FL Costco, when I got home I realized it did not have the grinder on it, so brought it to the store to see if I could upgrade it to a better model (me paying the difference)...I had no receipt as this was a xmas gift...they went as far as to look up the relative's account info and saw that it was indeed purchased at a Costco, and without a receipt allowed me to exchange it and pay the difference. After this, I was sold and became a member at this location, and have been since. The bonus of this location is it has a fuel station that always offers one of the lower if not lowest prices in the area. This location does lose a few points as a result of the rude, seemingly unhappy and or all around grumpy workers that give out samples. I realize that it must be crappy to have to feed entire families with a tray of single bite samplings or watching supposedly civilized people hover around you like vultures waiting to grab more than their single entitlement of a sample and rarely get so much as a thank you, all for minimum wages...but the realism is, they are the face for the company when they perform this type of role, and as such should do better at their interpersonal skills! other than that little thing, I give this place a thumbs up!
