There is a good clothing section (although as ever it has a much wider range of girl's and women's clothes than men's and boy's. In addition it has a large homeware / toy / party section. My only issue with this store is that despite a number of designated spaces there are hardly ever any Child and Family parking spaces. This leads me to the dilemma of whether I leave my toddler or baby in the trolley to potentially get run over while I put the other in the car. Many spaces are abused by people with no children and the store appears to do nothing about this. Prices at this store are good. There is also a petrol station which is competitively priced

Waitrose's slogan is good food, honestly priced, and for me, this was like when Prince Charles said that food was too cheap. Don't get me wrong, it's not that they stock expensive food at expensive prices, I've never yet seen Beluga Cavier at £10 a pound, but it's that they stock products that I can get at other super-markets for cheaper, especially with the age of internet shopping on us. The staff are always very helpful though, and the shop has a very relaxed atmosphere about it for a super-market, and you don't feel stressed to the point you just want to charge around the store and get out. Because of it's size, Waitrose offers an excellent range of food, drink, media, and much more, and they're always fully stocked, even with their special offers and promotions.

If you are used to shopping in London then you might be a bit freaked out by how friendly they are. The food and deli are all standard. There is a McDonalds restaurant built in to the store and there is a seperate George across the square which is well stocked and worth a visit. I love this supermarket.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and I had to visit a client down the road so admittedly I just wanted some change for the parking machine. I wandered around for a bit wondering what to by that would give me a good return on the 'change for a tenner' front and opted for some generic organic smoothie thing. When I asked the till lady for my change in pound coins she sighed, gave me a right nasty look and reluctantly counted out the change, one coin at a time. Even though I was super polite and friendly and cheery and all 'I'm sorry to be a pain, thank you very much please thank you'. Ah well. Other than that, the shop was well stocked, the car park offered up to 2 hours free parking (not enough for me) for customers, and it was bright and nice enough.

Inside the store has a reasonable range of food, most things you might need to pop out for are available there. Everything is slightly more expensive than at the main Tesco store on Prince Avenue. This store is generally well laid out and accessible with a buggy. However where this store really falls down is at the tills. It has no proper queuing area and while they have tried to create this using temporary barriers the queue tends to block access to the aisles. It is often very long - I have counted 25 people before, although more recently they have tried ringing the bell and summoning other staff when it gets busy. This sometimes works and the queue quickly diminishes, but often the staff prefer to chat amongst themselves rather than serve customers

The day Tescos announced…read morethey were coming to Hamlet Court Road, about 3 years ago as a full blown convenience store was welcomed with mixed responses. The small independents gave themselves a time span for closure, but they didn't, and regular customers thought the challenge might boost the current offer from the likes of Co-op opposite. Dropping in today, for the regular bottle of wine and something for the kids sandwiches for tomorrow's pack lunches, I was met with the standard layout of cramming as much shelf space and prime product in as can be possibly done. The Tesco plan however is not to provide their own cheap brand, 'Blue & Whites, which I am sure they do for certain items per day rationed, so come early evening they are all gone, leaving only the expensive main brands on offer (ok I know the Manager is target driven and the own brands don't hit it). These stores are convenient if you can afford them. Put it this way the £10 I spent today on 7 products would have gone further if I jumped in the car travelled a mile for the super huge Tesco store and bought the own brands, but they know they have me, as the offers would mean I would not buy just 7 items here. Back to this store, well it is quite a mindless process: find the need, place in basket, oooh at things you like but can't afford, try and justify buying them and then baulk at the price and move on. Find the end of the queue that winds it way up through the booze area, handy for studying wine prices. There are two self serve tills which I religiously use, and usually two human tills which still attract those adverse to robots, thank god. However, usng the robots, I still always need the young person's approval at the till that I am old enough to buy wine?? Bags packed and leave, go home and study contents of the hunt, and wonder why I didn't go to Co-op, although if I had bought stuff there, the same angst occurs the other way round too.
