I have been a student here for 2.5 years. As an adult returning student, especially beginning amidst the pandemic I was reluctant. However I have never felt out of place, I have always been encouraged and supported. I am proud to say I am an Honors student, graduating with an AS in Equine Science. I could not have done so without the guidance from all of my amazing Educators, support staff, and friends I have made along the way. I am genuinely baffled that they are still up and running. The counseling department is horrible, they never respond to calls, the phone will ring and ring and ring so you cannot even leave a voicemail and for some reason, that is the only way to make a phone appointment. The only time they're open is during most people's work day so it's nice they have the option to make phone appointments, only nobody ever picks up the damn phone. I have had issues every semester without fail. Whether it's them telling me to take classes I already took, or it's classes I am not yet eligible for, or blatantly pushing me in the wrong direction and having me take classes that don't pertain to my major, it's always wrong infomation. I don't know if they're underpaid and overworked, but this is truly ridiculous. Either hire more people or stop accepting more students than a department can handle. When I asked how to avoid getting misinformation/ if there is anything I need to do to not have trouble next time, the rude ass lady on the phone told me "Maybe you should try making an appointment ahead of time next time" AS IF I DIDN'T ALREADY CALL AND EMAIL THEIR TRIFFLING ASSES FOR DAYS ON END. Some of us work full time and can't sit on the phone for four hours waiting for someone to answer the damn phone. OVERALL: joke of a school, don't waste your time of money, I no longer will be and have plans to transfer as soon as possible. read more

I walked into the library and was gobsmacked by the sheer terror I encountered. My heart palpitating, hands buzzing, ears ringing, all the while my legs froze and unable to move. A demonic picture is being showcased front and center on the wall. I am in utter disbelief as to what is being idolized here. Honestly I love this campus, it's not too big, the professors are really nice and willing to help you if you need help, and this place have bomb chicken tenders. The fries don't taste too well though. The only reason why I took two stars away is because this campus is probably the most dangerous campus out of all the los Rios campuses. We had bomb threats, shooter on campus, car break in.. etc. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you live closer to the other city college. When it comes to community colleges, I love CRC. I have my associates and bachelors degree from two other colleges, but came to CRC to get a certificate in SQL and catch up on some math so that I can continue onto my masters. My experiences here from financial aid, to counseling, to the business center, to my professors has been great. I've had counselors who would give me incorrect information at both the JC and CSU level, but Ea Edwards at CRC has been wonderful!! She got me set up and was able to answer all my questions. My professors have also been pretty fantastic. They know their stuff and are fair grading our work. The majority of my classes have been online, but the teachers are clear in their expectations and usually timely at responding to questions via email. I highly recommend going to CRC whether it's doing your undergrad work, going for a certificate, or just wanting to brush up on some knowledge. Check them out and take advantage of an inexpensive but great education! read more

Administration is a nightmare. My general experience with the staff at both admissions and records and the counseling office have been negative. They've been apathetic, curt, and generally unhelpful. This isn't from one experience, this has been a consistent pattern for the two years I've attended this college. Every time I've had to do anything, it's required multiple appointments, emails, phone calls, and follow ups to get it done. I've attended 3 other community colleges, one even in this same district, and have never had this experience before. I've even had to do the same exact task at two different schools (sac city and crc) and had completely different experiences with both the speed of processing and knowledge of the staff. My recommendation to CRC administrators is to implement better training and working conditions for your administrative staff. Right now the impression is of an unhappy, uninformed, and apathetic staff that doesn't care about you or your issue or whether or not you succeed. read more

I am not a student here. I came to see the show Chicago. The theater is located right off the street, past the parking lot and up the stairs. I googled it and I was taken right there. There is a huge sign stating it's the Arts. Parking has changed and even on the weekends you have to pay $2. Compared to other areas $2 is a great deal. The box office opens right before the show, so you don't have to show up real early to get your tickets. I bought my tickets online so all I had to do was pick up my paper ticket. The tickets are real tickets, just like the Music Circus or Harris. I was impressed by the professionalism. The actual theater is really small, so if you want to sit facing the state you need to get there early. If not you can sit on the sides and those are good seats too. Being so small, you can't miss much. The sound is good quality, not too loud. The acting is professional. I was surprised on the acting quality. I felt like I was watching a professional theater company. Refreshments are $1. We enjoyed hot chocolate, cider and sugar cookies. I will be back. read more

Everyone in my family, including me, has taken classes here at one time or another throughout the years. It is a nice, mostly renovated, campus in a good location on the border of South Sacramento and Elk Grove. Lots of shopping nearby, a new parking garage and light rail. So, no excuse to not attend college. It's a great start for those of us who are not sure what we want to do and don't want to go into debt figuring it out. Cosumnes River College is a nice organized community college. COVID measures are taken, they offer free food drives for students and families. The faculty genuinely care for your success. Administration Office: I took my two year old with me on a Friday which was my day off to get some things taken care of at the administration office. I waited in the admin line to get my name changed which went smoothly. I also needed to purchase a parking plaque which cost $1.50. Younger girl with brown curly hair said she couldn't help me and to get in the other line. I had already waited in a 10 person deep line and had to proceed to get in the other line and wait another 10 people to make this tiny purchase. I get to the front of the line. All windows were taking the cashier window transactions. That same girl I had was supposed to call me up but ducks out of sight instead. I ended up going to the window next to hers that was a cashier to make my purchase. They take cash! Literally all she had to do was reach her hand up to help me. read more

Campus sucks during school hours for Valley High School across the street due to the fact that they seem to have a lot of kids who are ditching school. The kids are always roaming around common areas of campus bumming cigarettes from the students who actually belong there. It's highly annoying, or at least it is to me. Some of the teachers are alright and some are straight out bad. The people who work in the EOPS office are somewhat rude. Or at least they were the day that I had gone in at the beginning of the semester to get a copy of my assessment scores for my math class. The parking lot that is off of Calvine is kind of scary after dark, but otherwise it's alright. So is the pool area! read more

Great community college, and I'm saying that as a student myself. Most teachers are great, some shouldn't be teaching (ratemyprofessor.com) Downside, across the street is a high school where students ditch and come on campus and pretend they're college students but it's obvious you just walked from across the street. Other downside, crime, not trying to scare anybody but crime happens everywhere, just make sure you have mace, a taser gun, cell phone and a gun (if you can have all four with you that'll be great but you would need four hands) Third downside, parking is a B*&^% in the beginning of the semester. It gets better after a month but I don't get why all these students show up in the beginning of the semester just to drop. Save us all the trouble and don't attend at all. read more

I recently moved down to Elk grove and decided to begin going to college. I began looking for classes and found that there weren't many options since the school is small, really small. It's the size of a High School. Went down there to talk to admissions and to take my placement tests, ended up getting a ticket. Granted it was my mistake for not getting a permit but I honestly thought it wasn't required since both machines I tried using both didn't work and how there were almost not people at the school. My mistake so I won't mark down the school for it, just be aware that the daily permit pass machines are garbage and that most of them are broken. The environment is pretty crappy, to be honest. People here seem like they don't give a shit, almost everyone there seemed like it was just some ghetto hang out spot. Long story short I ended up biting the bullet and just registering for SCC, it's a 10 mile drive each way, but from what I've seen it'll be worth it. read more

Only been here for 2 semesters but it feels like any other community college. The campus itself is very small, almost like a high school. Parking can be hard at times and parking lots have mountain like speed bumps! Like any other community college, there's gonna be some students who take their studies seriously and a lot who are just there for various reasons taking up space. Since the campus is pretty small, and with the budget cut; they don't really offer that much classes here as compared to other colleges in the los rios district. Also, for the professors: there are some good, some bad. I prefer to just look up on ratemyprofessor to get an idea of the professor. Another point to add, if you want financial aid, do everything early and check the status everyday because their financial aid system is as slow as a turtle. Same goes with counselors/advisors as well, you should try to talk to them ASAP because during the semester, you'll have to wait like 29384729347329 years just to talk to them when setting up an appointment. Overall, it is a pretty nice school though. You can go as far as you push yourself to anyways. read more

I'm a student at CRC going into my sophomore year and although I've had a few good professors their counselors are the worst! Since my enrollment I have had little to no help picking out my classes as well as aid with a career plan, at this point I don't even think any counselors work here and If they do they need MUCH better training! I have thought about dropping out of college at least once every two weeks because I feel like I'm just wasting my time by taking classes that I'm not even sure will help me get to where I want to be! Mike the counselor is great. I came in as a first time student wondering about transfers of trade school credits. Pity they did not take my schools accredation. I registered way too late for class's and Mike tried his best to get my foot in the door to maximize credits. I told him about my situation with the army and he was well knowledged about what they would take and what credits would up my pay scale. I was walked to the testing area and made sure i was taken care of. Man that test was hard, 30minutes each with average of 1min per question. I proud to say i did well, even though i was caked outta my mind with caffeine. Scored well enough to place me into any 300+ AA or BA level class's. Study and test tips, do not drink caffeine 2 days before a test. Bring ear plugs because people walking in will break your concentration and enrage you. Props to the testers saying SHHHHHhHHhh and to being ignored by rude people. Even though registration was 4months ago, I was able to get into 1 class worth 4 credits and into a few waiting lists. Schools rather large... I got lost trying to find a building. Even though mike pointed out the window where I needed to go.... Man i need to stop drinking caffeine. Thumbs up to all them people ditching Valley high school to admire a place where they will probobly never enroll to. I must admit, i was one of those hoodlums. I am starting the RVT program here on Monday. I have attended pretty much every school in the Sacramento area. I like the campus, but hate that the RVT area is SO far away from the rest of the campus. God forbid I want to grab a bite to eat, or get something from the bookstore, it would be quicker for me to run across the street OFF campus! Financial aid is hell. I like the check in kiosk, but OMG you wait literally hours. There's nowhere comfy to sit either. They have these wooden benches that hurt your back :( They are building new buildings, and expanding some areas, but the construction during the first week of school is going to make parking even MORE hell. As for the RVT program, I am super excited. I've attended two other programs, and this one has them beat BY far. I love that they are heavily associated with UC Davis, and that part of the program involves training rescue dogs and adopting them out. Also, there are FOUR DVM teachers instead of the normal one at other schools. read more

Either I've been lucky this semester or since they've made some more entrance/exits and their traffic hasn't been as bad as before. Pay for your parking permits and classes online rather than waiting in line. The campus is pretty nice and small. I don't see how anyone can get lost on this campus but it happens. There's so many weird people here. Sometimes the high schoolers across the street like to walk over. The professors here are pretty good, some you should avoid. Use ratemyprofessor.com but it won't always be accurate since everyone has different learning styles. The financial aid office is a pain in the ass. Come early or be prepared to wait hours. Every college is going to have good and bad teachers, and sometimes you're stuck with the bad ones but that's how it works with most colleges. If you're lucky you'll get priority eventually and be able to pick out the good teachers(see ratemyprofessors) before those classes fill quickly. Some departments are obviously better than others, all of the photography teachers are passionate and just amazing. But core general ed classes are sometimes iffy. Crime is an issue, it is south sac, last semester there was a shooting across the street and they locked the college down. But on the other hand it's not quite stockton(delta) which i've heard is a bit worse. The campus police are always patrolling so there's a level of safety, but don't leave stuff in your car because break-in thefts are a popular crime in the parking lots, put it in your trunk. Overall it's a very clean and nice campus, they're about to finish the cafeteria finally and they're already planning on their next building! An architecture building. There are some nice shaded areas to do homework outside or in the library. It's not heaven, I'm ready to get out of here, but it's not hell either. read more

No since of being sincere... staff more prevalent to easiest to handle a situation to self, than circumstances to students... I've live in sacramento over an year and they gave me residential form... turn in all forms of ID driver license and even cal works... staff is concern about getting a check... then understanding circumstances... email not up to date... staff told me there was an glitch in the system... I have nothing against the teachers here. The professors are some of the most wonderful people ever. They are passionate about what they do and I enjoyed taking classes here. But a few things really bother me at this school. First is a few of the counselors. Some of them are good but some of them, I question if they know what they are doing. I came to them seeking for answers about transfer and courses, I left feeling like we were walking in circles. I got some help (good!) but I still had questions unanswered; he referred me to a different advisor. My next encounter with a different counselor left me feeling like I wasted my time. Well actually more like I was dumb for coming to ask for help in the first place. You're a counselor, an advisor. You're supposed to answer questions, assists your students with empathy and kindness, not talk down to them like they are stupid and like they taking away your time from your cell phone. Sorry CRC, this is where you fail. Besides that, the food in the cafeteria isn't all that great. There were some incidents that involved the campus police here. It's not the safest of place due to these recent incidents. Parking prices has increased at the Los Rios campuses (boo). Overall, the three stars are obviously only for my professors. read more

The worst college I have ever experienced in my entire life. The staff is completely unhelpful, frigging rude, they never answer any phone that exists in any department, they dont tell you crap about anything. The counselors dont know how to do their jobs, everyone acts like they hate life- Ive had better interactions with people at the flippin DMV for goodness sakes. Oh yeah and applied for Financial Aid in March, enrolled in classes in May and they never informed me that I needed to select a major in order to acual qualify for aid, until 2 weeks before classes started only because I had to actually physically go into the office and ask in person. They dont do anything over the phone. Convient for people who live 30 mins away. Not to mention the only reason my major was even listed as undecided, was because their drop menu on their site when you apply didnt give the option. Their fault. And to top it off this is what they call "professors". This is their role models and mentors they have to offer. A response that I received from a Psych "teacher" that did not say in his class description that his orientation was a must to attend. It stated that there was an orientation held on campus. The next sentence stated "Student must complete week one's assignments in order to stay enrolled." So the a**hole first posts he wrong syllabus for almost 48 hrs after his class started. I emailed him Day 1 about it asking for him to confirm it was the correct class and it was indeed online not on campus. This guy doesnt email back. Then morning of Day 3 he drops me even though he completely ignored me reaching out to him the very first day. Takes him a freaking week to get a response back even after having a department administrative assistant dang near hunt him down just to say I was dropped for not attending his stupid orientation that didnt say I had to in order to keep being enrolled. So when I email again saying his class description didnt say what he is telling me and how unfair it was to drop me off his own technicality then asking basically if it was too late to add in and this is was his response to me: "The first week's assignment was given out at the informational meeting. I guess you knew about the informational meeting since May when you first signed up for the class but intentionally decided to skip it b/c the term "mandatory" was not included according to your description of events. I'm guessing you intentionally skip little details often in life with the hope of slipping through the cracks. I'm not going to comment on that kind of thinking b/c it clearly speaks for itself." Rude, disrespectful and completely unprofessional. AND THIS GUY HAS A DEGREE IN PSYCH???!!! Whats worse- I forwarded this to the Dean and the head of the department and they did nothing. It's my first semester at CRC after being a 2 year student a sac state. I decided to take Anth 300 and 301 here b/c it's too damn hard to get it at sac state. I've been here a few times and noticed a lot of changes and renovations! It's looking less ratchet! The new parking structure is so much better than sac state's. I wish they had that number system! Great college! I spent a few too many years here because I had no idea what I wanted to do after high school. The campus is 2nd rate, but the professors are first class so depending on your personality this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Take government with Morales, once you pass his class you will have the confidence to pass any class, except math. The library can get loud with chatty groups not studying, just tell the groups of talkies to stfu and be the hero the library needs. read more

Probably my least favorite campus out of all the Los rios colleges (and I've been to all four on/off campuses). After my departure as an Aggie, crc was the first Los rios college I attended. So this place holds some memories. Comparing Davis to here would be a let down, but CRC serves its purpose. Professors are okay, but I would prefer SCC for science courses. After many years, they've built new buildings and made it more appealing but there's still the older buildings that needs a makeover. I just used the bathroom in the arts building and there's rust all over the sink. read more

It's a duplicate form like the tax transcript!!!! Get over yourself CRC! No other school asks for this form but your dumb school! My sons SW one year in college and NO MONEY given! My son has had to keep 2 jobs and I work OT just to get him books thru Amazon. If it wasn't for me, he would be a drop out! No one at this university cares. Last year I called everyone on the Dean office. The school Dean, the Assistant, the Dean over registration and had to make a complaint to fair treatment in Oakland. Know what the result got us??? Campus police will harass you if you park longer than 10 minutes in loading zone even if it is 8:30 at night and parking lot completely empty. I don't see a reason for this if you are waiting for a minor in a dark area of campus. read more
