Great value for breakfast (especially the Breakfast Club special M-F 930-11:30 for 8.25 for a hot drink and brunch item!) We enjoyed the eclectic decor, the kind service, but the food was the star! Excellent poached eggs, spinach, mushroom hollandaise sauce! Nice kids menu includes drink and we will be back as it's easily a good value in the city centre.
I had been to The Cosy Club once before for cocktails and found it great. It's a huge open bar space, with plenty of comfy seating and overlooking the majestic looking dome inside the newly refurbished Corn Exchange. Today I went for lunch and was very impressed. They do brunch until 6pm and all of the menu looked lovely. Lunch items such as sandwiches, burgers and paninis cater to those who fancy snacking and then the dinner menu, served from midday offers starters and mains and varies from fish dishes to pasta, pub fare and steaks. I went for a tomato and mozzarella panini with fries and salad. It was great. With it being a warm day, I opted for a refreshing sherbet lemonade which really hit the spot. Don't discount The Cosy Club just because it's a chain restaurant. It's very good.
The interior here is actually amazing! Every corner is full of cute pieces of furniture and pictures. It's super 'cosy'. Great vibe overall, it's pretty big inside too with lots of nooks and crannies. The food was ok, we ordered from the tapas menu, 3 items each which was more than enough. The spinach croquettes were DELICIOUS, the falafel were a bit hard and the avocado dip wasn't good at all. My friend rated hers as OK too. We booked on the 50% off menu so were a little annoyed to be challenged by the waiter who claimed we needed a code in an email, annoying as I wasn't aware of this and didn't get an email with a code. He ended up agreeing to give us 50% off but it wasn't great imo. I'd go back and give it another go, try a main and drinks. The interiors worth it if nothing else!
After a rather disastrous stint as retail blackhole The Triangle, The Corn Exchange has reverted back to its old name, and now plays host to several quality restaurants nestled around its walls, including The Cosy Club, which I'd only heard about, but in passing thought I would give a try, after the menu outside proved tempting, and the idea of it being a casual lounge type affair. The funny thing is that as soon as you step inside, the décor IS decidedly "cosy", flock wallpaper, old framed artwork and tasselled lampshades and various curios surround a staircase leading upstairs (there's a lift too). Walking into the main bar area was wonderful, as the theming continued, opening up into a large domed area with a bar and lots of seating, the wood panelled walls full of old framed portraits and stuffed and mounted deer, all the way up to the ceiling. The best description I could give to this theme was that of a Colonial hunting lodge or an old gentlemen's club. It felt very classy but also very comfortable. This is the sort of theming I love, and if I'm honest it reminds me a little of The Adventurer's Club at Walt Disney World, and believe me that's a good thing! I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who introduced herself as Stef, and asked where I'd like to sit. As it was quiet it seems that the main bar is used as the restaurant, as the restaurant section itself is sprawling, with a huge amount of additional seating, continuing with the theming throughout. I chose to sit by the balcony, which gave some great opportunity to people watch over the rest of the interior of the Corn Exchange. I noticed there was a Connect Four game on my table, and although I moved it, Stef told me how they have board games and the such if anyone fancies playing (and later I saw a group of three Korean diners thoroughly enjoying Connect Four, and laughing). She left me with the food and drink menus and said she'd be back. I was really pleased to see that the drinks list had a good range for those of us who don't drink, not just the usual Coke/Fanta/Lemonade options. The item that really caught my eye was Watermelon Iced Tea, so I ordered one! It was fabulous! Really tangy and delicious, it made your eye twitch, and was made by a genuine man with a genuine beard at the genuine bar, it wasn't from a bottle. Lovely! I would get this again without question, although Stef also recommended next time I try a berry concoction which is also proving popular. The menu is full of delicious temptations, from an extensive brunch menu, to sandwiches. panini, burgers and tapas. The puddings look pretty damn good too. Next time I think I'll try the game stew from the mains menu. It's a sign you've enjoyed a place when you find yourself already planning your choices for next time! However, this time I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, which came with chipotle mayo, house slaw, and triple cooked chips, and for less than a tenner at that. Stef also said it was no problem to replace the chipotle mayo with standard mayo, as I'm a big girl's blouse and don't like spice very much. When my food came out, I'm glad I didn't opt for any side dishes as this was a big portion! I was pleased to see that for 'fried chicken'. it was actually not battered but instead coated in a wonderfully crunchy breadcrumb, and gigantic in size, taking up over half the plate. It reminded me more of a schnitzel, but either way it was delicious, juicy and tasty. It sat on top of a portion of triple cooked chips. Now if you've been to restaurants in the past few years, you'll see that everyone and his grandma claim to offer "triple cooked chips", but they rarely are, so to find somewhere that really DOES do triple cooked chips, and does them properly is always a thrill, and Cosy Club do just that! The house slaw was nice, but I'm a bit of a traditionalist and prefer it with a mayonnaise rather than a dressing, but it was still good, with lots of flavour. Before paying, I went to have a look around the expansive restaurant section, where I found lots more tables, but also some quiet and private area with armchairs and sofas, which again felt wonderfully cosy. I also found the beautiful glazed tile staircase leading down to the toilets. I paid for my food at the bar, and spoke to some other staff members, including the man with the beard who I informed was a dead ringer for one of the portraits on the wall (if it included hipster glasses!). They were friendly and told me how the theming was achieved, treasured they'd found, and how the group of 5 mounted deer heads over the bar were affectionately referred to as One Direction.. They also told me that the glazed tiles on the staircase are pre-war, and from the glory days of the Corn Exchange itself. They work perfectly with the theming of the Cosy Club, that's for sure. I will most definitely I've already picked what I want! I might even pop in just for a pot of tea sometime! :)
Met friends here for a drink before we ate at Pho. Despite the name, this place is cavernous, with a triple-height ceiling and open view out to the Corn Exchange's former trading floor (which will soon be filled with diners from the dozen or so restaurants). The walls are full-to-bursting with framed pictures and various stuffed antelope and gazelle heads, which makes it look a bit more like a museum than a bar, but I suppose the vast space needed decorating somehow - it'll most likely become the 'bar' for the Corn Exchange as a whole. You can dine here as well in a separate restaurant area. It was a shame that, given the myriad of choice for craft ales nowadays, the bar only had two beers from Brightside available. I'm sounding like a broken record now as there's been a few new openings neglecting to offer decent beers - hopefully they'll introduce other options but for now, I wouldn't rush back here.
I like the name 'Cosy Club'. Makes the place sound very homely. And I guess it sort of is with its sofas. Since it opened last year, I've been a few times for drinks but today is the first time I tried the food. I went for the buttermilk chicken with chips, chipotle mayo and coleslaw. It was all really tasty. The chicken was moist and really tasty. I also really liked the slaw. I had a glass of Malbec with it - a choice I have made before when coming just for drinks. Overall, I like the place and the food is ok. Would go back again, albeit may not be my first choice, but that is mainly based on location.
I came here on a night out with 2 friends for drinks and decided to try the food as I was here. We sat in the bar area however there is a nice dining are in the back. The decor here in the pub is beautiful and I found the staff really helpful. They let me try the real ale before deciding on what I wanted. Very helpful with everything as technically the kitchen had just closed but they squeezed in an order for me after having a chat with the chef!! That's what I call going the extra mile! I decided to order the 35 day aged rib eye with triple cooked chips and a side of mac and cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and you could tell the beef had been hung. It was tender and easy to eat. Also ordered the peppercorn sauce which was yummy. The downside was the chips (fries). They were more like wedges and if I am honest weren't good. They were very greasy. I'd order something else next time like a potato or salad with the steak. You have been warned. The mac and cheese was pretty good though and I would say to definitly give that a go. Good place to come with friends for food / drinks. Service was excellent although it was pretty quiet so would be interesting to experience when its busy. Pretty good especially considering its a chain. Beats the hell out of TGI Fridays, Weatherspoons or similar chains any day!
I've just come home from having the most amazing Breakfast at The Cosy Club, the latest opening in the Corn Exchange, places like this make me so happy I decided to move to Manchester. It is exactly everything I want out of a place and I can see myself visiting a lot. We originally sat outside as it was a sunny morning, blankets were provided on the backs of the chairs in case we got a little chilly, which it did (typical Brits and trying to enjoy any possible 'summer' sunshine'). We managed to have a coffee outside but decided as we we're eating, we would move inside. The lovely waitress gave us a little tour of the place and sat us down at a table and took our food order. The decor of the place is unbelievable, they could come decorate/furnish my flat anytime. It's as you would expect, Cosy and quirky. Lots of formal portraits, random light shades hanging from the ceiling and deer heads. Breakfast - WOW, The Cosy Club know exactly what they are doing. Fantastic selection; Full English Breakfasts, Sausage & Egg Muffin, Scrambled Eggs on Toast & a simple Granola with Berries (Oh and pancakes, how could I forget). Our group ordered 3x the Full English Breakfast (£8.25) which included thick sourdough bread, bacon, eggs (anyway you want), sausage, black pudding, tomato and mushroom. Let me tell you, it's extremely good value for money it's huge and I quote 'The BEST breakfast in Manchester'. I ordered Sourdough Bread with Scrambled Eggs (£3.25), again it was large and the best scrambled egg I've EVER had (Sorry Teacup, you've been outdone). 4 Breakfasts plus 8 drinks was £52 (drinks were 3x milkshakes, 2x coffee's, 1x orange juice and 2x pints of beer).After eating breakfast we sat in the main bar area, which is totally stunning. We played a few games of Jenga whilst finishing our drinks and just chilled out. They had lots of different games to choose from such as Monopoly and Card games. Highly recommend this place for breakfast. Cannot wait to try the Lunch & Dinner menu.
Happy hour is the time to be here, 2 cocktails for £9.50, espresso martinis to die for! Bar staff do too much faffing around! I don't care if you can shake 3 shakers of cocktails at once, poor me my drink, it's Friday night!!!

The Garden Brunch is sooo good. It's basically a vegetarian version of a classic English Breakfast. Well, mostly - the peas are not classic mushy peas but a twist featuring avocado. Every item was cooked to perfection and I absolutely loved it. Price is kind of high though. Really nice classic decor reminiscent of the Victorian era. Friendly, quick service. Well worth a stop if you're staying nearby. read more

Cosy Club has improved a lot of late and deserves an upgraded four-star rating for sure, the food quality is getting better and the same can be said about the overall atmosphere, service and value for money. The gluten-free breakfast selection is one of the best in the city, and even includes gluten-free bread (finally the dreadful rolls are gone) and sausages, they also do a pretty good gluten-free fish and chips too! I do still find most of the tables uncomfortable, the lift also is pretty slow and seems to break down regularly so if you're able to use the stairs I would recommend it. read more
