I really like this place! We tried it out doing uber for the bogo deal for the rolled tacos (taquitos) and omg it was so much food! Me and my partner had to split one and take one home because portions were super generous so I definitely feel like it was worth the money we spent. The location of this taco shop is right near the football field of Westview High School, I imagine it's a popular spot for the students since it seems a short walking distance from the stadium seats. I thought inside was going to be no seats but there was actually a lot more than I thought and it was pretty nice inside. Cute decorations. Clean. I really enjoyed eating there. I only wish they had a salsa bar with some options to choose from like other taco shops typically have but I still enjoyed my food a lot. I also really wanted water but didn't see a place to easily fill up a drink, but when we asked the worker was super nice and went to the back and got us some so I was happy, just didn't realize it was available at first. I could definitely see myself returning to this place to try more menu items. Taquitos were crispy and smothered in cheese, tomatoes, and guac. Yummy! So I'm excited to see what else is good here. This is my go to Cotija's location. Their food is always served hot and delicious. Staff is trained well and always friendly! The dining area inside is a little small but they also have a patio that's comfy. Highly recommend if you're needing a good Mexican food fix. read more

Food quality has been going downhill for a while. They brunt the rolled tacos and still packaged it up and served it to us on our "to go" order. We didn't know until we got home. They tasted so bad we had to throw away the entire order. Super disappointed. They should have just remade the order versus giving it to us trying to hide they were overcooked under topping. Was told NO that was too many.. I should have said "how much for extra and take it out of the tip I left you" ,,UGG and the burrito sucked hardly any meat and it was drenched in wet sour cream yuck. Too my surprise, I received a full order of fries and a different combination. Good thing I checked my food before driving away. The employee didn't even give me a receipt but made it correct. Haha I only come to this Cotijas because it is closer to my house than the other one on Black Mountain Road (which is bigger and has better hours). A coworker recommended this spot to check out for lunch. Ordered the diablo shrimp and the vegetarian burritos. The food came out quickly and the portions were generous. The diablo was stuffed full of protein with a flavorful white sauce and rice; but the vegetarian was soggy due to an excessive amount of sour cream, guacamole, and pico that drowned the other ingredients. Located on the same plaza as Golden Spoon and Baron's, this is a solid place for Mexican food! I love getting the rolled tacos here. Also, the breakfast burrito is yummy. I've had hit/miss with this tiny taco shop. I think they receive most business during school days as they're right next to a high school. Parking is tiny as they share the lot with a few other neighbors. I have driven here twice and the shop is closed even when their posted hours shows they should be open. I've tried a few items but it was awhile ago. I didn't think the items were all that great. I revisited last Sunday to grab a quick burrito to share with friend after a workout close by. It was a scorching hot day but the taco shop has nice a/c. There was one customer before me. The cashier lady wasn't the most friendly but didn't blame her as the place was really empty. I asked if it's usually this dead and she said yes. I think they close around 2 or 3p on Sundays . The salsa station is well stocked with 3 salsas and carrots/chilis. To go containers were ample for the salsa and carrots. I ordered a steak, bacon, egg breakfast burrito. The cook/chef making the order smiled and me when it was ready. "muy rico" he said to me which means very rich. My face smiled back as I could only imagine how yummy this burrito was going to be. The burrito was so delicious and bountiful. The ample carne asada, deep fried bacon, melted cheese, and eggs MORE than filled our hungry stomachs. We asked for sour cream on side . This was a great value for $8.07. This specific Cotijas location is one of my favorite taco shops solely because of their carne-asada tacos. I get them every Tuesday because they're so inexpensive (around $2-ish dollars each) and they are always so well made. The meat is always so juicy and the tacos are always so filling. I typically don't like salsa but their spicy red salsa has the best punch of spices when paired with their asada. The customer service is always great here as the staff is always so kind. I prefer this Cotijas to the other location literally minutes away. Tonight we got Surf n Turf fries for dinner and it was so good!! This is the second time I've ever gotten Surf n Turf fries and I was so happy that I did. The portion size was huge and had a great amount of shrimp and carne asada. We split the order between two people. The chipotle sauce they put on top compliments the fries so well. My only note is that some parts are more drenched than others. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Jackie, who always seems to be smiling, has always been friendly, and always extra accommodating asking if I need a small bag for hot sauce or spicy carrots. So that is what most employers would want in an employee. Where Jackie separates herself from the rest, I experience first hand, last night. The cash register program they use is in Spanish, so the money numerics appear almost like pesos. Last night I intended to tip her $2 for my take out order. However; due to fat fingers or inattention on my part I accidentally tipped her $20. This is something Jackie noticed after helping the next customer. Many people would have pretended they didn't notice and went on working. Not, Jackie, she asked me to come back up to the register. She said, "I think you meant to leave me $2, but you actually tipped $20. Let me give you the money back." I was genuinely touched by her integrity. I want the owners to know, she is a superstar. Love this place: Food: We live close by and close to my kids school. The food here is great. Love their burrito and happy hour prices. They are not stingy with their portions either and they are quick to get the food ready. The only drawback here is, they don't do substitutions for things. Like if you want shrimp instead of chicken. We just received our Uber eats order from Cotija Carmel Valley, and I have to say we are highly disappointed. We ordered Birria mini tacos, Asada tacos, Pastor tacos. 3 rolled beef tacos and a Asada burrito. Everyone complained about the meat being hard and dry. I really dislike giving 1 star reviews, but unfortunately, I cannot justify giving this restaurant anything greater. I placed an order on Door Dash over the weekend for 4 breakfast burritos. I had never ordered from this place before, but figured it's pretty hard to F up a breakfast burrito. They were your standard, egg, cheese, bacon and potato burritos, nothing too crazy and all the ingredients were listed as a part of the burrito they offered - no extras or add-on's. Fairly easy right? When we received our burritos I was so hungry and super excited to open it up and bite into some deliciousness. Except, the first thing I noticed when I went to grab my burrito, is that it was not only super skinny, I could actually feel just tortilla and nothing inside the burrito in the middle...it basically felt empty. Confused, I opened the burrito completely to see what was inside. There was about 1 flat scrambled egg with a couple pieces of bacon...and that's it. No cheese. No potatoes. 2 out of the 4 ingredients were missing. It was the saddest excuse for a burrito I had ever seen...(see photo). It wasn't just my burrito that was like that either, all of ours were. It took an hour to even get delivered to my house even though I live less than a mile away, but we were hungry so we attempted to eat it anyways and needless to say, it tasted like it looked. Terrible. I called Door Dash to get a refund and fortunately they gave me one but I felt compelled to share this experience because it was really shocking to me. I have never had a a burrito that was lacking in so many ways. The people who work there must really not care anymore! Moral of the story, there are no good taco shops in the Carmel Valley area lol.
