Everything in there from the banana dress on the mannequin out the front to the racks of shiny shiny dresses made me feel like I was back rummaging through the dress up box. Now that is not to say that all this is not in fashion again. I see plenty of girls dressed like a young Madonna or like Julie Roberts straight out of Pretty Woman. I am just saying that the clothes are so reminiscent of these styles that I feel like I have time travelled. That being said, the prices are also a little out of my range with most good over the $100 mark. The shop is quite nice, with lots of room to move and breath. You will find it in the Newmarket Reading Complex on the ground floor near the newsagent. I assume this place would be the best thing ever for some, but the styles of offer are just too dated for my liking.

This boutique actually sells some nice clothing that are on trend and I actually find this boutique to be quite comparable to Princess Polly (Princess Polly have a much better logo). At Shugah, you will find brands like Cooper St, Mint and Maurie and Eve- brands any fahionista would be proud to wear. They really could improve with their visual merchandising as the way they are doing it at the moment does not give the garments justice. It is unimaginative and just dull which cheapens the clothes therefore makes everything seem over-priced. Once you forget about the awful logo and dull merchandising aside, Shugah boutique is not a bad place to shop.

Cool* clothes for fat girls…read more Let's expand on that slogan (which isn't their official slogan, because god forbid we actually use the word fat as a descriptive word instead of an insult). The design of some of the clothes is okay, but I'm going to issue a blanket generalisation and say it's all overpriced and poorly made (so wait for sales, 50% isn't uncommon). Their official slogan is "Be styled in sizes 14+", but they should tell the whole truth and call it "Be styled in sizes 14-22 in store and 14-24 online because we pulled XXL from our retail shelves and then put it back in the online store as a compromise when so many people got up in arms about it". Positive: CC don't use that horrid lycra fabric (essentially swimwear fabric) that some plus size brands love (I'm looking at you, Leona Edmiston Plus Size Collection). They use a lot of cotton elastane, poly/viscose elastane, bit of straight polyester - straight poly's fairly horrid but I don't mind anything with the poly viscose elastane tag. Still, the decent items of clothing can often be few and far between. Prices are always preposterous, as CC has a monopoly on the "cool clothes for fat girls" market. They make a killing on shrugs and cardigans because they also sell a lot of sleeveless dresses, and a lot of women hate their upper arms. Too many items on CC's shelves are covered in tacky, ugly sequins and beads. Others are t-shirts with horrendous "Little Miss" prints on them, or Betty Boop prints, or "vintage pin-up" prints (and for lols, the vintage girls in the prints are all slim). To end with another positive: CC usually has at least a couple of items that are on-trend with seasonal fashion, or at least not-far-behind-trend. It's nice to have the opportunity to try their clothes on in retail stores, as a lot of other decent plus-size clothing is only available from international online stores. And if you purchase something online, you can return it to any of CC's retail stores for your refund. It's just a pity that the closest retail stores to the city are here at Chermside, out to Garden City, or Mt Ommaney. I've never even been to Mt Ommaney. Where is that? The girls who work in the retail stores are always really lovely and helpful, so this review should bear no brunt on them. Yet for all the good I associate with CC, there's still more bad, and that's why my friends and I continue to refer to the brand as Sh*tty Chic. Of course, I'll still buy their clothes, because I don't really have a lot of choice at this size. *loose term. Read the rest of the review. EDIT: HAHAHA NOT LONG AFTER I POSTED THIS A BUTTON CASUALLY DROPPED OFF A CC JACKET I AM CURRENTLY WEARING. A+++++

My absolute FAVOURITE item I bought here was a little black bolero jacket with gold epoillets, and was devastated when it was stolen on a night out (never ever leave your jacket unattended in the VIP section of Cloudland - even it only cost $20, people will assume its expensive and swipe it anyway). After crying myself to sleep for weeks, I phoned the store to see if they had any more. They didn't - but lovely owner man ordered more in and called me to let me know he'd put one aside for me. I was over the moon and couldn't believe he'd gone out of his way just for a $20 jacket. Side Street also have gorgeous clothes for guys - Man Friend was the joyful recipient of a stunning white v neck tee with neon Vegas skyline print, which I'd spied on Side Street's Facebook page and popped in to purchase. Great formal dresses and accessories too and you won't find the brands stocked at many other places so there's a level of individuality too. Friendly staff and great location. I usually pop over after brunch at Anouk...

This place sells London Rebel shoes - quite nice styles and surprisingly affordable - as well as relevant fashion styles and some really standout jewellery pieces and accessories. They also occasionally sell some Sass & Bide. I was drawn in by the really distinctive skirts and dresses. You pretty much have your pick of styles here; if you need festival fashions, just ask to see their playsuits and shorts; if you want a cute weekend outfit, take your pick of the patterned dresses. Or go more casual and choose a cami with one of their remarkable jewellery pieces. Side Street is another great stop on a Paddington shopping day.
