Went on a visit here one night when my parents were going and invited me along. Upon first being seated we were immediately unhappy. The table looked fine but as soon as we sat down we were hit with a huge gush of freezing cold wind from outside, somebody had come in the rear/side entrance which was marked as an emergency exit only, it happened again immediately and we asked the hostess if we could move. She just kind of blew us off and said that it was just people coming in and out at the change of shift and would be over soon. But it lasted a while, as people were coming in late, and ended up wearing my coat inside because we were constantly being assaulted from wind from that door. Why the employees can't walk the few extra seconds it would take to go to the main entrance instead of using the (clearly marked for Emergency only) side door to enter/exit I don't know. So after we resigned ourselves to the table next to door we were greeted by a young server and his trainee who we were told was on his first day. This isn't uncommon, many times I've had a waiter who had a young trainee in tow. But to our surprise, after the initial introduction and taking of the drink order, the trainee was all on his own. The waiter spent all of his time with another trainee, a young lady, who either needed his help more than our waiter/trainee or he had a thing for her, because he stayed with her and for our guy it was sink or swim. And for a kid who clearly didn't know what he was doing and it being his first day, he didn't do TOO bad, but there were lots of mistakes. We ignored most of them and didn't bring them up to avoid hurting his feelings or getting him nervous about mistakes. A water that was asked for without lemon came with it, no big deal. Our appetizer came out pretty much at the same time as the meal, oh well. One of the side orders was wrong, but I still ate it. My dad asked for an extra side of gravy for his chicken fried steak and what he got was a little bowl with chicken and dumplings in it. He just laughed about it. We couldn't really get mad at the kid, and the only reason I bring any of it up is because he shouldn't have been out there on his own like that on his first day. Other than those service problems the food itself wasn't terrible but not special. We all got chicken fried steak and while not the best it was OK. I wasn't crazy about the broccoli/rice casserole and probably won't be ordering it again, although to be fair I didn't order it this time either. If the service had been OK I would have considered it a 3 star place, nothing special but a decent meal, however the employees blasting us with freezing winter air and the poor kid who was cut loose to wait tables all by himself on his first day dropped it down to 2. Update: Received a message from somebody who was with Cotton Patch who apologized for the bad experience and wanted my contact information. I didn't really see the point, she'd already apologized but she wanted the manager of the restaurant to apologize as well apparently so I gave her my info. It's been 3 weeks though and I haven't heard anything, which is just as well. read more

Really good!! Think of a more southern and soulful tasting logans or Texas roadhouse. They have chicken fried everything!! Super yummy plus awesome SWEET tea. They offer a smaller version of some of the meals for $7.99 instead of the full size for $9.99 (same number of sides, smaller portions). Cheese fries were killer good as well. I love eating at Cotton Patch with my family. The food is always good and the service is almost always good. Our waiter today was Austin and he did a great job. He was very attentive with our needs and requests. My grand baby loves their rolls . Usually if I order a main entree with sides, I end up having food left for another meal. First our coffees came after the food came out, and then we asked twice for creamer and it never came till the food was finished and the coffee was cold and then the creamer came. The food here is "eh". Just ok. The service is hit or miss. We went last night and the service was horrible. We had a rude teenager who was in a hurry(not busy) and was put out and to do anything. We ordered an appetizer and no sooner that came out so did our entree. We even purposely didn't order food at the same time as entree, we waited. We asked for it to be taken back to keep warm and the "kid" grabbed it off the table totally put out. I would never go back but my husband likes their pot roast. I realize it isn't fine dining, but management needs to train their staff better. read more

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.... this food is down home good. Get ready for some home style cook'n! They are going to start you off with the big, light, fluffy dinner rolls good enough to make the meal on. Service is ALWAYS good here and this place is immaculately clean all the time. I am a HUGE FAN of the pork chops with these cinnamon apples perfect for dipping those chops into DE-LISH! They do mashed potatoes with skins all mixed in there and they are quite good as well, and did I mention the okra??? I have never been disappointed with this fare. VERY GOOD! read more

well, we order fish and rice Cajun plate,,,,,,,when our meal arrived it was put on the table without comment and Germani was gone, however there was no rice. my wife being an Asian must have rice!!!!!!so we called our server, Germani ,back over to our table and ask where the rice,,,,,she said they were out of rice, but no mention of this when we order!!!!!! so we said ok we will get a take home box,,, we have rice at home,,,,,,she said they would take off $1.99 for the rice that's fair things happen we understand that....well, when she brought the bill[ after what seem like a long time ],she also brought the rice and charge us for it......my contention is they ruin our meal. I had the Cajun blackened tilapia and shrimp plate. It was decidedly average. I tried the chicken and dumplings and it was decent. The bar looked to be very limited. My dad had the mango tilapia and he was disappointed with it. This place is fine but nothing special. read more

I had a great dinner recently at the Fort Worth location but this location was terrible for lunch. The service was slow and the appetizer came out with our meal. Both of our orders were wrong and the food was not hot. The bacon was mostly uncooked fat and the fries were soggy. McDonalds would have been better than this place. read more

The food here is good but I love the people. The staff is always so welcoming and nice. Jennifer is the cutest little thing and so sweet. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with no bacon. When the server brought it out it had bacon. They took it back and when they brought it back I could tell that they literally just plucked the bacon out. I have a pork allergy so Jennifer was kind enough to take it back, saying as a vegetarian herself she totally understood. My sandwich was brought back freshly made. I came in here exhausted from a day out... our waitress, Kylea, was so warm and welcoming. She was a warm ray of sunshine. She was so attentive and relatable! We sat talking for forever! Wow, can you give a negative? If so, they would or should I say they earned it. We made large takeout order - DO NOT ORDER take out, maybe their inside visits are better. They forgot an entree in the takeout order, when brought to their attention it was a careless attitude. Then Lisa, the night manager (so she says) got on the phone and was quite rude. She told me to have a nice evening and Merry Christmas in a very sarcastic way. She did mention that Nate Garrett the General Manager is a great guy? I have no clue why she would say that as he was not in. Nevertheless, the food was cold, by the time we returned back to pick up the missing order all food was cold. Their attitude was oh well, things happen. By the way, they told me 20 minutes and it took over an hour.... when I asked why did they not tell me the real time, she told me they could not tell how busy they got - must have got slammed in the 20 minutes. Less is more should be the moto of cotton patch cafe. For less money you get ridiculous diet busting portions to satisfy even the most discerning palates. I can honestly say i have tried so many things on the menu. Their burgers are delicious , chicken fried chicken specials on mondays are awesome.They now sell fruit as a side for those looking for a healthier option.I love my coffee with my meal and they always brew me a fresh pot as I am sure that they don't get too many requests for cofee.I really used to be a chilis fan but lately everything is so deep fried or microwaved. The store is truly clean and the staff is amazing, well trained and always there to help when you need something. I was very happy with everything. It did take a minute to get seated but then again I can't stand very long. The food was fresh and delicious. Our waitress was amazing.
