You know to be honest, I'd rather eat a mouth full of cotton than this food. Since I've never eaten here, I normally order 2 or 3 entrées to get a feel for the food. Well, here's my take. First, let me state i did order this via Uber Eats and my driver had two other deliveries before my food got to me. So, some of the blame needs to be shared by Uber. Mozzarella sticks- Cold, no cheese pull Catfish/fries- The catfish was ok, nothing special and of course cold. Mushroom Swiss Chicken Fried Steak- A disgusting mess. Whomever came up with this dish should have their apron and chef's hat taken away. The dish just didn't work. The batter was too thick and the steak was rubbery. The cheese and mushrooms didn't work as a topping. Even my dog wouldn't eat it. Three Cheese Bacon Burger- The burger was cold but tasted ok, nothing exceptional. Key Lime Pie- The only edible item. The pie was good. In conclusion, I wouldn't eat here again if the meal was free. Absolutely terrible food and you can tell they simply just don't care. read more

I went to Cotton Patch for the first time in Greenville and enjoyed it so much that I thought to visit the one in Rockwall while I was in town. I was hoping for an equally enjoyable experience but unfortunately wasn't satisfied. Party of 3 were sat without waiting (they were cleaning off a table as we arrived) and our waiter came to get our drink order pretty quickly. He was friendly and cordial and checked on us frequently enough that he never went without drinks. Without a doubt the best part of the dining experience. What was unfortunate was the quality of the food; I ordered the same fried green tomatoes that I had ordered last time I was in Cotton Patch Greenville since they were so delicious last time but this time they weren't good. I cut into them and immediately noticed why-- the tomatoes weren't green. The entire tomato was a yellow/white color inside so it was mushy and didn't really taste like a tomato at all. But the breading was still very yummy. I ordered a steak, rare, with a side of broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. My steak came out medium well to well done and my broccoli was very mushy; I was able to squash it with my fork so it was a bit overdone as well. Mashed potatoes were under-seasoned and a layer of the scoop outside had crusted over a bit as if the whole plate had sat out on the pass for some time. After letting our waiter know about the steak, he had another brought out at the correct temperature and it was a major improvement. When the temperature is correct, steak is great. My family had the chicken fried steak and the club sandwich. They both noted that their dishes were also bland but the size of the chicken fried steak was overly generous; she would've preferred a smaller yet better-tasting chicken fried steak over what she got. We may give this location another shot in the future but for now we'd rather make the drive over to the Greenville location. read more

What is up with Cotton Patch in Rockwall. Waited 45 minutes for table of 2 only to wait 17 minutes before someone took our drink order. Then we didn't get the right drinks. This is the 3rd time it's been like this. I won't bother coming back. Management has issues. The servers that were there were so nice and working so hard but there was only 3 for the whole restaurant. It's been 2 hours since we walked in and I'm still waiting on a sweet tea. Sent in any order for 24 dinner rolls to be placed in an aluminum pan with a lid. Get there 1host very polite and helpful. The 2 just was rude and demanded an order number before releasing the order. Get the order, in a brown box, rolls were mushed on the bottom. Why ask for additional comments when you are not going to follow through. read more

The sides were lukewarm. Macaroni and cheese was just blob, not creamy. When we were finished, waitress just plopped our ticket on the table. She took the money and was forever getting our change. Other than her taking our order and taking our money, we never saw her. She did not check to see if everything was ok. No please or thank you when we were paying. We ordered 3 meals. They messed up every single order. We ordered catfish basket.... we waited a long time because they burned the first order and ended up with cod. So no catfish. The buttermilk chicken strips were actually cornmeal and they messed up both of the sides forgetting one completely after having to make onion rings(5) while we waited again. I ordered Door dash twice in a row because the first time my order was missing toppings for my potato, my chocolate cake, and Mac and cheese. So I got a refund from door dash and tried to order again. The second time, they didn't give me the chocolate cake and it was scratched off on the tag but I paid for it! I just came back from ordering take out from this establishment and it was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. It took almost an hour to get our take out order only for it to be missing items , for our food to be cold, and some food items not even edible. They forgot gravy to go with my turkey and dressing order, the "Streamed" veggies where half cooked and half raw. They forgot the cheese on my husbands two burgers. He also asked if they could add grilled onions when ordering, the lady at the front told him no problem, when he went back inside to get our order fixed, she told him it wasn't an option. Also, we ordered Kids Steak Fingers, and they were so cold and chewy my son wouldn't even eat them. We paid so much money for awful service and terrible food. The broccoli rice casserole, doesn't have any broccoli at all. Maybe they thought that cream of broccoli soup qualified as the broccoli. now, fir the good. The grilled chicken was flavorful. Good baked potato. Good black eyed peas and squash casserole. the dining room was closed due to lack of employee, so they weren't thst busy. We need more good wholesome American food in Rockwall, don't waste your time going to the Patch, I've been a customer on and off for the past two years and have not enjoyed anything from this restaurant, I really enjoy the cedar hill location, but not Rockwall, the food is just not good, the broccoli had so many brown and black spots on it I couldn't eat any of it, and the grilled chicken had grill marks on one side and a bunch of burnt black stuff on the other side, the sizzling mango chicken is a dud because they don't use fresh ingredients, so don't be like me and waste your money here, spend a little more and go somewhere with good food. read more

I can't believe I have to write something bad about this location, but it is so deserved and this was a slow day not like the weekend when they are usually hopping busy! We love this location because generally the service is great (on the weekends anyway), the people are friendly and personable and the food is usually spot on. Trust me, I been thinking on this a week. My wife, a dinner guest (a Professional Chef at a nearby country club) and I were seated a little after 5:15PM Last Tuesday (4/5/22). Our waitperson was well, not too friendly in general demeanor. She, as well as several other wait people on the floor had scowled faces; like someone told them they are not getting paid for the day but still had to work or they weren't getting a check that week. But our server seemed as if she hated being there and hated doing her job and hated seeing people; trust me it showed hard-core in her face, mood and general treatment of my table. We tried to joke a little to get her to smile, but the 'Go to Hell' look on her face was evident. We ordered a couple of starters, which we had to repeat ourselves a few times, one coffee, which seemed to be an issue or special order since there was none made (?), a couple of libations and water. Our dinner guest ordered her 2 Chicken Fried Steak Dinners to go, since she had plans after dinner. The drinks were apparently single serve only drinks, since we were never asked if we would like refills, replacements or something else to drink after this initial point of contact. When our dinner guest wanted more coffee, the waitperson literally walked by us and ignored us (and others); even when I tried to raise my hand like some school kid. I finally took the cup over to the counter and told her my guest needed a refill and she may want to check if anyone else did as well. She brought it then walked off, never asking about other drinks. She wasn't on the floor checking tables like most others I had seen during my previous visits. When she wasn't making a required food or drink drop; she was hiding behind the wait-station where she was gabbing with others. Our food came and it was NOT the usual flavorful and well prepared fair. My wife's grilled pork chops were akin to salt pork (not kidding here, they were more fit for bean flavoring than actual consumption) and my 'Chicken Fried Brisket' (A HUGE MISTAKE ORDERING THIS) was about as dry as dried beef with less flavor and the food just had this off flavor in general. Like someone put hate and lack of care into the meal. Like when you go to a family members house who dislikes you, but your family. When you get your plate, it is like a hate curse on the plate? LOL, yeah like that. But my dogs ate it, of course dogs will eat almost anything meat related. Finally our dinner guest had enough of our waitpersons general abhorrent demeanor and lack of customer service. She beat me to the punch and spoke to the manager, some young 20 something looking guy, who immediately took the waitperson aside and talked to her; when he should have talked to her during the end of shift tabs and close out. Talk about the hate and general feeling of being unwelcomed from the waitperson now. I grew up in the Restaurant industry; so I understand having a bad day, but don't get your tightie-whities in a wad and take it out on your customers! Un-bunch, take a breath, smile and it will get better. Plus, this stuff reflects on your tips! I don't blame my waitstaff for a bad kitchen product separate department. Generally, I leave a good tip (30% to 50% and more for epic service) for someone who is a good server and tends to the table (not just mine, but those around me). But this time, no tip, I only paid her 8% which she has to pay to the government on everything she sells. Just FYI people, Never tip more then the TAX. GIFT your appreciation IN CASH and say Merry BirthMassAversary (covers most holidays anniversaries and birthdays), then look at the RECITE TAX, PUT THAT AMOUNT into the 'TIP' line, add it up and leave. As far as I am concerned, during the week, IS NOT THE TIME TO GO TO THIS LOCATION. We decided to find a different place to meetup during the week, and may go back on the weekend, since it is the only place we know that serves my wife's favorite 'Turkey and Dressing' on the weekend. Usually when I go in somebody helps right away. This time when I went in for dinner. One half of the restaurant had its tables up already like they were about to close. We didn't go in until we saw someone else enter after thinking they closed early. This was 7.30pm. We go in and sit down and wait 15 minutes for someone to serve us. We decided that if no one shows up in the next 2 minutes we're going to order food to go. That's exactly what we did. AFTER something was said to the waiter taking our to go order did someone show up to ask for our order. Whenever I get a craving for meatloaf we usually do carry out from Cotton Patch because my husband hates meatloaf and CP does a pretty good one. Or at least they used to. I don't know what's going on at this location. There still seem to be a lot of positive reviews for dine in customers but our last 3-4 carry out orders have been terrible. My hubs put in our usual order today. Meatloaf with 2X Broccoli Cheese Casserole and Steak cooked medium with baked potato and Caesar salad. The order took 45 min to fill even though he was there around 5:00-not really dinner rush. When he got home we discovered that his Steak was cold, well-done and they forgot his baked potato. They remembered the potato toppings but forgot to stick the potato in the box. My meatloaf had a hard, crusty side to it like someone in the kitchen doesn't know how to wrap leftover meatloaf. It was pretty gross. I don't expect to get leftovers from a restaurant. At least slice off the crusty edge so it's not obvious! Everything on my plate was also cold except the rustic meatloaf sauce which was quite hot. Even the rolls that everyone raves about on dine-in reviews were just stale and old tasting. Do they keep the fresh ones in house and send the day-olds in carry-out orders or something? Unfortunately, this isn't a one-off experience for us. We keep saying we won't go back...until we do hoping for a return to the great tasting home style food we used to get here. Like the floors need to be cleaned, the stall doors need to be wiped down as it looks like someone vomited on both of them, there was trash and toilet paper all over the floor, the toilet paper was sitting on the ledge because the silver roller was on floor, the first (small) stall has a bent spoon as a makeshift latch on the door. I asked the server about it. She said a customer broke the latch a few weeks ago and she thinks eventually it will be fixed. Yikes! Does the manager not walk the whole restaurant daily? If so, there should be a new manager. Home Depot, Walmart and Lowe's are all less than 2 miles away. Surely someone can buy a new door latch. Let me add balance. Colton did a great job serving our group of 18, as we celebrated October birthdays. He was quick at getting our drinks, then took our food order. He was personable and met our needs as soon as possible. The manager came and greeted us as we were finishing up. He brought a free appetizer coupon for the ladies with birthdays in our group. This is a copy and paste from my Google Review. The food and atmosphere were great. Their famous chicken fried chicken and steak lived up to their names. The staff were very friendly. There were two young waiters named Marcelo and Charles who had to deal with some fat neckbeard who was so rude to them. They both kept smiles on their faces and still maintained great customer service with us and their other tables. We arrived for dinner on Sunday around 5:00, no one at the front to greet you for 5 to 10 minutes. Waitress was nice and food was good, place was not very crowded. We ordered cobbler and was told they were out, so we ordered 2 pieces of cake to go. After 49 minutes we got the cake but was told they were out of ice cream we asked for a manager and she came out with an attitude and walked off while my daughter was telling her the issue. Rockwall lost the Black-eyed Pea a few years ago, but this Cotton Patch location took the reigns and offers much-improved southern favorites as well as whatever you might be craving.
