There a bigger fields here as well as smaller pathways along the many streams and waterways that run through the area. If you really fancy a longer walk the Dingles leads into Sarehole Mill and Moseley Bog, both are really beautiful and make you feel like you have left the city all together! The only thing I will say is if you have two mental dogs like I do .....have a lot of towels ready. They both came back muddy and soaking. All of the fields around here are regularly pretty turned over and water logged.

Around 2 miles long, you stop hearing the traffic and could kid yourself you're in the 'proper' countryside. Tree lined paths follow a stream, with the occasional clearing making perfect picnic spots. This is maintained but not planted up, just as a proper country park should be. I see plenty of runners, dog walkers, families and horse riders on my wanderings, although the latter do mean that some of the paths can get very muddy. Still, if you want a bit of country-in-the-suburbs, this is it!

They have also been designed by a poet from the 18th century called William Shenstone (if your interested in history). The area consist of wooded hillsides, scenic grasslands and small lakes and streams. Free parking is available at the Leasowes Lane entrance. It's natural and in areas very wild, isolated and utterly without basic facilities. But having said that its great for getting back to basics for a proper old school adventure! Spend the day hiking, have a mini beast finding safari, or have the hide and seek tournament of your lives... there is lots of fun to be had here! This public space is a great bit of wilderness in a heavily industrialised area. A great place to come to escape from it all. A much used and loved place for family recreation, couples, friends alike. There are a few must see features to find like the bridge over the water feature, this place is great as you'll find nothing but green here. it truly is Lovely!

There is a fishing pond with a well-trodden path that takes about 20 minutes to walk around. It is a pleasant stroll through the woodland up to the golf course. The main problem is accessing the park by car as it can only be reached from the downhill carriageway of Mucklow's Hill.

So, you'll find yourself chatting small talk with other dog owners as your canines get to meet each other. As the park doesn't have any facilities, it's a quiet park with enough space for everyone to play ball, picnic, or read. It's the main meeting place in the Winter for school kids and their families when schools are cancelled due to the white stuff, and you can get a good run down the hill near the High Street entrance with your sledge/skateboard with the wheels taken off/plastic bag, though my most extreme jaunt down the hill was at dusk at break-neck speed in a bath! Truly, a park for all seasons.

Plenty of tarmac paths for bikes and scooters, plus loads of wide open spaces for football etc. The play area is lovely and very similar to the style of the new one in Canon Hill Park, but much smaller. It's inventive and interactive which is brilliant for imaginative games. My daughter especially loves the sculpted ridge at the back as it's great fun to tear round and have adventures on. One of my favourite things is to take along some bread, feed the ducks and walk round to the bit up by Moor Green Lane and Yew Tree Road. It's a little adventure haven and even better now the rangers have created new pathways to explore. There are also bee hives not far from the duck pond, which is really cool. Some of my favourite trees are in this park. Really lovely. If you're in need of refreshments, then there's a Costcutter not far from the main entrance on the High Street or Co-Op on Dad's Lane. Both of which are a little walk out of the park. There aren't any toilets, so it's as nature intended or crossed legs.

It also has a lovely lake to take a short walk round. It's a brilliant place for bikes and scooters too. The paths are all suitable for pushchairs. The cafe is situated at the entrance to the park and has clean toilet facilities as well as stocking a wide range of the usual cafe snacks and ice creams. The food is pretty good if you forget to take a picnic. There's a lovely play and exploring area right outside the cafe near the picnic tables so you can sit and have a drink while keeping an eye on the children. There's also a spot from which you can feed the ducks on the lake nearby. If your children need even more to explore, there is a small area of woodland to run round on one side of the lake as well. It's a great way to spend a day. Plus, you can venture further afield if you really want to on sign posted walks.

The mocha I had was nice and hot - served by friendly staff. Me and a friend sat out on the balcony over looking the lake which was nice. However, because it is right next to the Lickey Hills, it gets overshadowed by the grandness and vibrancy of the forests, lakes and fruit bushes of the Hills. Unfortunately, Cofton Park seems very bare when compared to the Lickeys, even though the openness, hills and views from the park are beautiful. Many people use this park to exercise, walk the dog or go for a casually stroll, and the freshness of the air is great to inhale in after a hard, long day in the Birmingham city centre smog. And what's great is that Cofton is only a 40 minute bus ride on the X62 from Birmingham's Town Hall. It doesn't take that long to get to at all; so if you want to have a relaxing day to experience some countryside, Cofton is definitely the place to go to. There's also a playground area for children, so you don't have to worry about them getting bored. Although I have to say, Lickeys is by far better to experience, and it's only over the road from Cofton.

Only a short drive from where I live lies this park and it is a vast and dramatic space, perfect for walking the dog. 135 acres of fields and trees to be exact. I've heard that Sutton Park is quite big, but that is the other side of the city to where I live. That is why I like to bring the car down here for the day. Just to remember what it was like to live in the countryside in Devon. There are no problems with the park, it is just a vast open space to wonder. I like to come here to forget about all the noise and confusion that goes on daily in the big city.
