We were excited to support Country Cafe after its reopening and chose it for lunch specifically because we value local businesses. I ordered the crispy chicken salad, which looked great and had fresh ingredients and excellent dressing. Unfortunately, the chicken was undercooked.I discreetly informed our waitress, who took a piece to the kitchen. I expected an apology, a replacement, or some acknowledgment of the issue. Instead, after waiting several minutes, no one returned to address the situation or offer a remedy.Food safety should always be taken seriously, and what disappointed me most was not the mistake itself, but the lack of response afterward. Undercooked chicken is a serious concern, and the failure to address it professionally leaves me unable to recommend Country Cafe at this time. I hope management takes food safety and customer service more seriously moving forward. read more

City girl stopping by for food on the road here - I absolutely love this place. I got the pecan crusted chicken and it was so delicious. The chicken was just the right portion and was crisped just right. I also love that they put the gravy on the side as someone who doesn't always want a ton of it on my chicken initially. The addition of the pecans also really gives the dish a unique flavor outside your typical chicken fried chicken. In addition to the food, the ambience is so cute and cozy. Lots of cool signage around the space. The staff also seem to be really sweet as well. Highly rec this place to fellow travelers looking beyond chain restaurants and for locals. read more

Oh my gosh. We finally tried this place and so glad we did. It is a tiny cafe but great food and service. Very small town feel. Seemed to have plenty of parking right off the road. Small outside porch area to wait for a table on. The breakfast menu is extensive. It took me a while to figure out what i wanted but i decided on the chorizo and eggs with 2 tortillas and hashbrown. Took 30 min to get my food. Fried pork chops were tough, thin and chewy -- more like jerky. Sides (sweet corn, green beans and tomato slices) were okay. Texas toast and iced tea were above-average. Some pointers for first comers, the seating is very limited and room between tables is scarce I think this idea what is meant by charming. The decor is witty and fun, but I would stop short of charming. This is a seat yourself establishment, if you can squeeze in. This is important because there is no signage to indicate what you should do when you enter. We did get long stares when we came in but we ate city folk and often stand out in the more rural areas. Once you make it to a table, you eventually get a menu and drink order. There is also a very strict 10:45 am cutoff on breakfast, even if you were there at 10:30 and they didn't get to you until 10:48. So we had lunch. Chicken fried steak, house salad, and mashed potatoes. The steak was ok, but had no noticeable seasoning. The gravy tasted lile milk and flour, adding salt and pepper helped it, but still.... Potatoes were mid and salad was fine. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. The confusing seating and stuff made it less for us. Seems like a great spot for locals, but maybe not for out of towners. read more

Tried someplace different since we are moving to the area soon. This is a very, very small and very, very country place that serves pretty good food. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. The place was packed, so we had a seat at the bar. We had Chloe who was super nice. We sat and received our menus and there was soooooo much breakfast items to choose from. Many of them named after a country witasism (I.e. - amount The Wayne, the Hillbilly, etc.). I had the special on the board if eggs, bacon, ad a sausage and a blueberry pancake with whipped cream. It tastes very much like you cook it at home. This is the ultimate stop for a good country breakfast if you're on a road trip, or if you're just looking for a quick stop on your way to or from Dallas. There are many locals and regulars who are in here on a daily basis for their breakfast, coffee, or coworkers. They open at 6:30, and usually the parking lot is already full by 7! I had a meal called the "Dolly Parton." It included a ham, hash browns, eggs, a sausage patty, and toast. I think this is a great way to get a day going, and it's only about $8. There are also other dishes on the menu named after country singers like Merle Haggard, Elvis, Hank Williams, and Toby Keith! The menu is also spacious in that it has many other things like combos if you really want a big breakfast. The lunch starts at 10:30 sharp until closing time around 2. If I ever make it back up here, lunch is a must here. The service is also great. The young lady at the counter was so friendly, and said what her favorite things on the menu were. They normally have your breakfast or lunch out in about 10-15 minutes or less. When it's a little busy, it might be a wait, but it is definitely worth it. So come on and enjoy some good country breakfast or lunch at this place right outside Dallas! read more

This place lives up to its Yelp ratings! I have lived in Waxahachie for over 15 years and feel so cheated that we have not tried this place before now. Yes, the place is super small, I understood that going in from the reviews, however we got lucky and went in on a Tuesday morning and was lucky enough to get a table right away. I doubt we would be as lucky in the future. This establishment is very quaint with the most friendly server. Service was quick and attentive. The food was so good. Eggs are eggs, hey taste the same everywhere, but they were cooked perfectly (over medium). The bacon was crispy and delicious! The star of the show for my meal was the home fries, cooked with onions and tomatoes, just wonderful and the biscuits... the biscuits were so light and fluffy... one should never order breakfast here and not get the biscuits. They were unbelievable! (The coffee was great too!) The server mentioned that the owners are considering opening another location in town... I sure hope they do, and are open for dinner!
