I grew up eating here but haven't been back in easily 15 years or more. They came through for us in a pinch as we had a large group after a difficult day/week. We reserved the back room, which only "cost" gratuity included on the check. We had great service and the buffet was even better than I remembered-- the chicken, ribs, bbq, greens, and fudge pie + chocolate eclair were my highlights. I remembered really liking the eclair, and it held up to my memory. The only thing on the entire buffet that tasted in any way "basic" were the mashed potatoes, which may have been instant (or maybe just under-seasoned). Hard to complain given so many other choices that were each far above average. The price was incredibly low as well given how much quality food was on the buffet. read more

I was not happy with anything. I ate off the buffet. I grew up in Owensboro with family all over Western Kentucky and I was taught to cook country food. From the first phone call to reserve, to the very last guest leaving, the staff was friendly and super helpful. This is like eating in your Southern grandma's kitchen with passed down recipes of yesteryear. We drove a little ways to eat their lunch buffet, but when I saw the Yelp photos, I had to have me some. Coworker G and I are very glad it's not closer to work, we'd have to start our own scheduled nap time and auto email response per visit. The buffet was aplenty. It started with a salad bar, which I skipped over. It jumped right into fried chicken, juicy meatloaf, sausages, and chicken. Then sides of green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, pickled beets, corn bread, rolls, and I'm sure I'm missing a bunch more. The dessert selection is incredible! There was banana pudding, peanut butter cup pie, meringues, graham cracker eclairs in the mini fridge, & again I'm probably missing a bunch more. Good place for families. The buffet is good, honest, country cooking. I don't usually eat large helpings, so ordering a "meat and 2" is much more economical for me. They allow you to make one trip to the buffet to get your meat, bread, and 2or 3 veggies. I really love the chicken-fried pork chops. read more

We had dinner here while visiting family last week. The place was very clean and neat which made me a happy diner! Someone's granny is in the back...I swear! Fried chicken and pork chops...yes. I know I'm sounding pretty bad here with this review but I wish I could make you see that this place has some amazing meat. I love meat...sigh. Anyway,the mashed potatoes, baked spaghetti, cheesy potatoes and veggies were good too. The salad bar consisted of the regular selection of items and included pasta salads which were pretty tasty. My only con was the lack of seasoning on the greens and the savory cornbread but that's me...the sweet cornbread lover. Unlike most veggies, just adding salt after cooking doesn't do much for greens. They need to be seasoned early on so they absorb it. Other than that, the homemade mile long table of desserts were amazing and the sweet tea...good lawwd! The meal was also very CHEAP! I must mention the service...which was on point during our entire visit. The server was so observant, she noticed my daughter didn't eat much so she only charged half for her. That really blew me away. Who pays attention like that in any other restaurant let alone offer to do something about it. I was soooo impressed. Lastly, I love how the owner is not ashamed of her faith and its obvious throughout the restaurant. In a world where many want to hide their belief, I love when a business owner just doesn't care...and that's exactly how it should be. Out of all the places I ate in Kentucky, this has to be my favorite and most memorable place! I came as part of a large group on a Sunday after church. It was packed! They had a great selection and for someone like me who hasn't really been able to experience "real" southern cooking I feel like this was the best representation of it during my trip. I could not get enough of their fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, mmm!!!! I swear I was the only one who got seconds! My parents trained me well ;) Another highlight was their large wall of just pies wrapped in cellophane. Today me and my wife decided on something a little different from our normal food choices. Today we went to country cupboard. This restaurant has been in my community ever since I can remember and before then, and For good reason too. This place is awesome. Full country cooking buffet. This is soul food for the American! Everything from fried chicken to banana pudding, you can find it here. I ended up eating two plates of food consisting of pork chop, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, greens, cabbage, beets, cornbread, fried chicken, peaches and cottage cheese... wow! The servers were very pleasant and checked on the customers regularly. I didn't take any pictures because it was very busy in there today and I didn't want to wig out any of the customers. The rotary club was even having a meeting there. I even saw one of my high school teachers. Pretty cool place. Looked like a lot of people were even conducting individual meetings. Definitely should be a place to consider visiting should you be hungry for some buffet style down home country cooking! read more

This is what southern cookin' is all about. It's a little pricey (9.58 including tax for lunch without a drink), but damn is it good. I ate wayyy too much, but it was just so good! Real mashed taters, unlike KFC. And the deserts are all freshly made, and there's lots to choose from. I'd come back next time I'm in town. The food that was on the buffet was always hot, and always being restocked. I went around 1, and the parking lot was full, which in my book, is a good sign. I think they do a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. Although, from what I hear, the church crowd fills up the place pretty quick on Sundays. read more

I went in with the lowest expectations but I was blown away by their hospitality and wowed by their delicious food. Their dessert are simply lip smackingly good! If you leave here unsatisfied then you must not be from planet earth. But even Martians know better! I rarely give 4 stars and yet this place sincerely earns 5 stars. Don't know what all the hype is about. This buffet is just OK at best. The food has no seasoning which means no taste. The selection is limited and the salad was full of brown, wilted lettuce.
