I wasn't planning on buying any clothing when I arrived to Bondi Beach ready to do the Coastal Walk, but I came woefully unprepared weather-wise. Blame it on my being in Hawaii for too long and thinking I wouldn't need to be wrapped up to spend a day at the beach. It was incredibly windy that day; great weather to go for a coastal walk, but I knew I'd freeze my arse off in my short-sleeved tee. I had to buy a sweater. I looked around at the numerous clothing stores lining Campbell Parade, and decided that Between the Flags offered the best quality shirts and sweatshirts. If I had to buy a sweatshirt, I wanted to buy one that was stylish and durable enough that I could wear it again on my next trip to a cooler weather destination. I found Between the Flag clothing to be soft and comfortable, something that you would love to wear on a cold day and feel warm and snuggly. The sales associate was helpful and friendly. She told me a bit about the clothing available and gave me time to browse the store. I chose a few items to try on in the dressing rooms. I decided on a grey sweatshirt that had Bondi Beach written in gold on the front. My sweatshirt kept me appropriately warm during my walk along the coast which was particularly cold and windy for a Spring day in Sydney. It also rained later that day so I had no regrets buying that sweatshirt. Some drawbacks are that Between the Flags apparel is pricey and that it has limited sizes. There are other stores that sell cheaper sweatshirts, but I did not think they looked or felt as good as Between the Flags. I am petite and curvy and managed to find some things that fit me. The largest sized piece of clothing goes up to around a US size 12. I recommend Between the Flags if you happen to find yourself in my predicament and need additional clothing before spending the day at the beach or going on the Coastal Walk. It is also a nice place to shop if you are looking for a Bondi Beach shirt as a souvenir that is of high quality and will last a long time. I still have my sweatshirt and hope to get good use out of it for years to come.

They aren't offering homewares like the Melbourne store does. They have some good options for men and the quality is better then what you are going to get for a similar price in the likes of Cotton On. I stocked up on some much needed items to get me through the winter months. Overall the store is a miniature version of what H&M offers and they are due to have a CBD store at the end of 2015 which will be a similar size to the Melbourne GPO store.

Sure, I could have packed my Yelpers poncho, and I would have, if I'd been able to find it in the early hours before I dashed off for the train. Wet & bedraggled I dripped my way into the store, lured by jackets that were now half price, now around $130. I was like a man in the desert looking for water! Well, no, just the opposite of everything I just said, but you know what I mean. Flicked through the rack, & noticed another stand of jackets that were about $80. Yes, I've got several jackets at home but I'm in the city for many hours to come, so I've tried on a few. The sales person was helpful in helping with sizes, and searching for colours for me. Just as I was about to it a buy one in a basic, boring black he offered to search in the Clearance area for me. Very pleased, he returned with a candy pink & a sky blue in my size. Sold! The blue rain jacket was mine! And I think about $50!!! I kind of think that if I'd gone in & bought either of the other 2 options that I probably wouldn't have bothered to review the place. But getting friendly service by somebody who listened to what I needed, helped me look on the racks, & then offered to something extra, I'm here sharing the love. FSW ticks all three boxes and are predictably cheaper than department stores. Admittedly the styles aren't all in season, but to be honest, the range of shoes is so large that is doesn't matter which season it is, they will have something that suits. There are both mens' and womens' and kids' shoes, not alienating any particular group, but focus is no on sports shoes, in case you are after a sneaker. So if you need shoes for work, casual shoes or something for a special occasion, try here. FSW has brands like Hush Puppy, Sandler, Birkenstock, Windsor Smith, Florsheim, Merrell, Diana Ferrari and many, many more. My favourite part of the shop check out what bargains can be found at the back of the warehouse, where the clearance shelves are. It is still fairly well organised and not a messy mountain of shoes like in other places. I love how they are grouped by sizes, so I can go and browse everything on sale in a size 10-11 and maybe find something I wouldn't ordinarily look twice at. Now the store sells shoes that are all made in Australia, most of which are sneakers in both hi and low cut options. Prices are generally between $140 - $250 for them too, which is pretty damn good considering they're made in Australia. Gideon shoes also have a small clothing section, that includes ethical knit wear from label 'first born' and a small but intersting musical collection. Go on and check 'em out.
