All owners…read more- beware : getting rid of this cleaning service is even worse than the cleaning service itself. It's like getting tar off your boots. The owner is a master in extortion - as a matter of opinion. We hired them for a ridiculous amount of money - about $350 for a four bedroom and we provided the linens. We are well aware of the going market rates which is about 250 to 260 for cabin our size . Nonetheless we decided to be generous. They didn't dust the cabins , dust everywhere , food debris under coffee table and list goes on and on. I made a surprise check in April this year and stayed in one of our own cabins . I go into the bathroom of the master suite of MY OWN CABIN THAT IS SUPPOSED CLEAN AND READY. half roll of toilet paper , no bath mat and no hand soap. I very diplomatically sent a list of improvement that they needed to make in their cleaning services . A month later - two guests complained about cleanliness. So we sent a surprise inspector who confirmed the findings. Further more , the cleaner would double dip. She would charge for example $350 for the clean and then show up two days later to refresh the cabin for another $50-100. This adds up to $450 plus the Airbnb surcharge would make this almost $500 for a 4 bedroom . We gave the benefit of doubt. A month ago - another complaint : unclean cabin , no soaps or dish rugs or anything . When I called her - she pulled a fast one on me saying that she didn't provide any of these supplies . Luckily I had all the conversations trascripted on my end. Four days ago - same nonsense . 8 guests checked in the cabin and the guest used the bathroom after a long travel and there was no hand soap or any soap anywhere in any of the five bathroom. The guest could not wash her hand after urging the bathroom as there was no soap . When I questioned the owner about this : and asked her to immediately rectify the issue as the guests were majorly inconvenienced - we received a barrage of threatening and harassing messages from the owner of the cleaning crew . In my opinion, she is trashy in her behavior as attributed by the text messages which are attached here for others to review . Passive aggressive is just an understatement. To make things even more interesting - she demanded severance pay. She was paid on a per clean basis . She is passive aggressive and if you are owner - you have to deal with retaliatory behavior that will hurt your business . Luckily , the vacation rentals is a very small portion of our portfolio and these things do not hurt us overall . But if the vacation rental is your only portfolio , be prepared to face the consequences of reputational damage and retaliation. She has now threatened not to return the linens unless she is given severance pay . If this cleaner is thinking that this is somehow not extortion or theft - a rude awakening is one its merry way. There is an old principle that I follow " Don't mistake my kindness for weakness." All pictures attached for any owner to be aware of what kind of person you will deal with.
