We started out with zero storage for our family of five, they suggested every new piece have storage, even hidden under the new upholstered beds. What a difference it made! Courtney helped me make my place a home. I live in a modern building downtown and the layout of my space was really tricky and unconventional. For the first few years living there I hated that my furniture felt cramped. Something wasn't working and I couldn't figure it out. Within minutes of walking into my place Courtney was able to offer me a ton of solutions. And she worked within my budget. I sent her photos of what look and feel I was going for and she hit the mark. I was really pleased. My place feels cozy, personal and I'm so happy I didn't go broke getting there. I don't typically write reviews, however, I had such a constructive experience with Courtney that I had to share it. She has such an amazing sense of style and an understanding of how all the elements in a project "fit." I decided that I would challenge myself & rehab. a rental house that needed a lot of work...Walls removed, kitchen & bath torn out & replaced, windows relocated, new cabinets & appliances, flooring, tile, stone counter tops, lighting fixtures, paint colors, etc. etc. My friend who worked with CB on several projects suggested that I call her...Courtney was booked, but would have sometime in a week. She came, and sized everything up, took measurements & set up a schedule... The following week she took me shopping for flooring, bathroom tile, cabinets & stone counter tops, appliances & electrical fixtures, and paint chips of the colors she recommended... Courtney solved all my problems by helping me make all the many decisions, that were overwhelming me...Also, she made a suggestion for an area surrounding a tree in the back yard that turned out "fantastic." She suggested using the pieces of concrete (removed from driveway) that were in a pile in the front yard....waiting to be trashed...as PAVERS ! My talented workers placed them together like a puzzle....Beautiful !! The finished product was gorgeous, I took all of Courtney's advise, and now I am a proud "rehabber" and plan on doing more in the future... Something Courtney doesn't know,... but will read here...Two of my friends that are also involved in rehabbing their properties, came over to see how my "project" turned out and loved everything we did...and...COPIED IT...in their homes !!! read more

My wife found Courtney on Pinterest and was adamant about hiring her for our new home remodel. We met with Courtney where we discussed a full interior remodel and an outdoor living dining area layout. The interior design was to include a kitchen, 2 baths along with 3 bedrooms, a living and a dining area. Upon our first meeting we discussed the desire to gut out the kitchen and completely open up its walls and have a totally open floor plan. The bathrooms were to be completely gutted as well. She seemed up to the task of taking our $12000 designing these areas. Her initial proposal dated 1/23/18 included all of this scope and shows renderings of the open floor plan. I point all of this out as she later claims that these were changes that were made by us after taking on the job which caused her complications. Seeing the scope of work she recommended a contractor that she does a lot of work with. I met with this fantastic contractor however I could not justify his costs and he claimed to be too busy at the moment to handle our project so he agreed to help on as a paid consultant and assist me in the role of me being the general contractor. All good so far. I consulted with an engineer and hired a contractor to remove a load bearing wall and put up a spanning beam to support the load. All was moving along just fine until every single aspect that Courtney designed had serious dimensional flaws. She showed a 36" range in her drawings of the kitchen but only allowed for a 30" range in real space. This caused us to have to completely change our design after the fact as it just didn't fit and looked dramatically different from her renderings. I was studying her bathroom drawings while trying to finalize my floor plans for my builder and something just didn't jive, again, so I went back to the job with tape measure in hand and found several more significant deviations in her measurements that completely required a re-design of the bathroom. As I was under the gun to have finished floor plans that night I was starting to get frustrated with Courtney as I'm sitting there in the dark, getting bit by mosquitoes and I'm having to calculate inches to feet for her because somehow she can't while she's sitting behind a desktop. I very clearly explained my deadline with her days prior and as I'm providing her with actual measurements in feet for the third time she replies with "I have to sign off for the night, have dinner guests". I about lost it. I told my wife that this was the last straw. Courtney's fallback was that she's not an engineer, not an architect, not a contractor which is all completely fine as we hired her to be our designer. She actually took perfect measurements on her first visit as I checked those all later on her original drawings. Her issue was she didn't double check her work. When you design a kitchen I suggest you double check your math and measurements. It's quite simple. Having blueprints or plans would have made no difference as they would have simply provided the same proper measurements that she took on day one. Not to mention that I continuously supplied her with proper measurements only to discover them changed. Everything's an excuse and someone else's problem with Courtney. I think perhaps the contractor that she referred us to must know how to fill in her gaps and correct her work so maybe yes only hire her if you have a great contractor, but then you won't need to hire her so.....? I expect more for that kind of money. For the record she was never asked to do Architectual drawings that's one of many lies to sensationalize her response and I never called the contractor to bad mouth her, I called the contractor to discuss his cabinet guy and it couldn't have been a worse time for him to ask how it's going with her, I'm sorry that I could not hide my frustration. I would suggest back to basics for her and perhaps a slice of humble pie. Another frustrating aspect with working with her was that she had a ton of black out dates which makes it very difficult to stick to a timeline and deadline. read more
