Stayed here for the night as my daughter had a competition in town. Upon driving up I realized Thai was going to be a different Marriott experience. This courtyard is in an area that most would not think to find a hotel. Behind a gas station and next to a storage facility. Upon entry ( late around 9 pm after driving) , the representative informed us that the internet was down and it took 20 Minutes before we were checked in manually as the internet still was not up . The representative was very hospitable and kind however. She did her job . Upon going to the floor it was apparent that this was a repurposed building . The carpet had a smell and stains . The plumbing in the ceiling was exposed and it was like no other courtyard I have experienced. We got to our room , which was much smaller than expected and a smaller restroom. The hotel Is next to the expressway so you can hear cars zoom by at night. The shower was good as the water was strong and hot. We received a voucher for free breakfast and enjoyed the service that morning very much . The staff are great and very pleasant ; Marriott needs to either invest in upgrades or withdraw from this location . read more

We'll start with positives- ALL the staff members we encountered were really helpful, nice & friendly. Giving the staff 5 stars hands down. The lobby area smelled really good and provided cold water- which I know is standard, but it's the little things! The hotel was clean, again standard, but still worth a mention. Now the not so positive things. The building itself is just old. It's time to renovate, upgrade, or what have you. We were in Room 624 which had a king bed. Pretty spacious, not enough lighting though. The room came with a fridge, no microwave, small TV that had a broken screen, and a small chair/table combo to the side. There was also a desk chair that seemed broken as the backing was toooo leaned back. The bathroom was not the best. Definitely dated & the toilet struggled to flush, but happy to say nothing came back up LOL again, I know standard! The black out curtain was kind of old and raggedy. Had a lot of whatever it as on it. Time to change those! The pillow case had a small residue of something and the towels were thin and scratchy. It reeked of that detergent ALL hotels use, but since it was old, the smell stuck to it even more. The location is awkward. Not really close to anything except a Seafood restaurant that looked a little sketch. Parking is free though, so there's another positive! We had a very pleasant stay while visiting Austin Texas. The lobby and front desk area is a very small area, and the main entrance and exit is off the 35 service road, which is a street that most drive kinda fast, so it's a bit tricky driving in and out, but once we got the hang of it, we were able to get in and out like pros. No room service, but you do get a mini fridge and coffee maker in your room, along with two water bottles, but that's about it. Luckily there is one microwave down near the bar down at the lobby with some meals, snacks, and drinks. They also provide games and TV's around the bar. There's also a pool, and small gym. We experienced an interesting event on our stay that had us in a kind of a black out for a few hours in the middle of the night, but they did alert us ahead of time, and it was no real problem. Had a one night stay in Austin at the Courtyard by Marriott Austin-University Area in a standard room with two beds. Front desk staff were welcoming and professional. Common areas seemed clean. The hotel also had a place for guests to order coffee and pastries in the morning, which I don't commonly see at other Courtyard properties. I really liked the design of the inside of the hotel with the short walkways overlooking the lobby of the hotel as you walk from the elevators to your room. There is plenty of parking in front of the hotel for guests. The hotel itself also seemed to be in a quiet area. Our stay was peaceful and safe. Other than the items noted above, I would say the hotel suited our needs for the one night we needed a room. We were a party of two adults and the size of the room was a little cramped as a standard room with two beds. There weren't many places to put our luggage and the space between the desk/table area and the beds seemed very narrow. The bathroom was a nice size, however, the upkeep seemed horrible. As others have mentioned, there were stains all over several sections of the walls and mold in several places of the bathroom. The upkeep of the room left a lot to be desired and could definitely benefit from a deep cleaning. However, for the one night we needed a room at a reasonable price, the Courtyard by Marriott Austin-University Area justified the price for us as a safe place to sleep for the night. The room itself had several outlets to charge devices and had a mini fridge to preserve some of the awesome leftovers we had as we ate our way through Austin. Our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Austin-University Area was average. Perhaps we might stay again if the price was right, but this definitely would not be our first choice to return to when visiting Austin again. read more

I am a Marriott Bonvoy member so I book almost exclusively Marriott properties, and I was surprised by this one. The staff is very nice and capable. Very helpful, friendly, and hard-working. But the property is pretty old, dated, not the quality of Marriott that I've experienced in other locales. Old bathroom with tub that had a confusing operating system. Toiletries are not replaced, so I had to go out and but shampoo on day 3. Room was cleaned twice in the 4 days. Bed was adequate, but duvet was thin and I had to double it up to make a proper blanket. Carpet was a bit old. No air conditioning in the halls. Only one washer/dryer for a huge property, so there was a line to use it. The bar food was good the first night, but on night two I was told there was no food as "the chef called in sick", and I guess no contingency plan for when that happens. My 4 nights went by smoothly otherwise. I had to ask to be moved to a new room initially, as there were gross splatter marks over the curtains of my first room- like someone threw a plate of meatloaf on the floor and it splooshed up onto the wall. Gross. I was given a new room, and "Oooh, sorry about that." But the new room was fine. I won't book this location again. It's in an odd part of town right along the expressway, near gas stations and storage facilities. But it was fine for four nights. Free parking was helpful. Staff made it better. read more

This hotel was clean for our Austin trip. The interior was modern. The front desk was friendly. They always tried their best to accommodate any request you have quickly and efficiently. However, the bathroom wasn't great. The toilet barely flushed (seemed like a water pressure issue), and the shower was slippery. This place is conducting fraud. I made a reservation through the app. Nowhere in the app was there the ability to cancel. I made it for the night at around 4 pm. I meant to make it for the 14th and instead somehow made it for the 13th. Then they said sorry you can't cancel the reservation before 24 hours. Then upon talking to customer service. I was told "sorry we only do cancelations 24 hours out" you are charged the no show fee. Customer service at this specific hotel are pocketing money under the guise of policy but no real business would operate with such unique circumstances unrealistically. It would only make sense if I made it last week and then didn't cancel within 24 hours. It was a mis click and they want to charge 158 dollars for a misclick and hide the ability to cancel in app. Also this was suppose to be reimbursed through work, now I have to get a different hotel and fight this fraud. Will be reversing the transaction on the credit card to win this fight. I have to say this is in line with some scummy behavior in Austin. My wife tried to by a pipe on 6th street in 2021 it was priced at 20 dollars and she swiped her card was charged 150 no refunds. I think the same shade of people are working here. I say that to say that there is a lot of things that happen here in Austin of this nature that don't really happen anywhere else. I would hope someone does an investigation of similar allegations against this specific hotel and you might find upon a closer look some unethical behavior. read more

We stayed here for one night and for a one night stay it was good. Checking in was quick and the front desk clerk was friendly. Our room was a double queen bed on the third floor. The beds were comfortable, and the duvets were pretty thin. The spare blanket to use was nowhere to be found in the closet. The room was clean, but some of the furnishings had some wear and tear. The towel rack in the bathroom had a big dent in the middle of it, the sink counter could have used an update, and the heater/ac unit was scratched up. You get what you pay for. Most Marriot locations are very nice but this place definitely needs to be updated. First the hotel is down an alley way with a small sign on the street so you can easily pass it without seeing the entrance. Plenty of parking right in front and lobby and downstairs is nice. Everything above that could be updated. Elevators were very fast which is unusual for a Marriot hotel. Most are slow but these 2 didn't make you wait long and were fast. Stayed on the 8th floor and the hallways are not air conditioned on the room floors. Once we got in the room it is very dark because there isn't much lighting and there are popcorn ceilings. Our dead bolt on the door was broken and I called it to the front desks attention the first day but no one ever came to fix it. Not a big deal because the door still locks. Bathroom is also dated but clean. The worst part were the beds. They are old and sag in the middle. We got a room with 2 double beds and the beds are old and need to be replaced. I have a bad back and when I asked the front desk about a room change they told me all the rooms with two beds are all the same. Ended up having a sore back the last couple of days. Overall not to bad because of the price but could have been better. read more

Overall the customer service staff here is lovely but there were just so many odd things to our weekend here it's hard to recommend them to anyone. We booked a two nights stay and at first were placed in a room that reeked of mildew. We asked to be moved and ended up in a smaller room right next to the elevator that had such a bizarre layout. The table under the TV made the path from the left side of the bed to the bathroom so narrow and hazardous so we moved it. First night we ate dinner in the bistro and it was alright. Buffalo chicken sandwich is pretty good. The oddest part of the stay was having housekeeping stop by at 930am to knock on our door but checkout isn't until noon. I opened the door and she just said "hi" and then that was it. Around 1030am we took our suitcases down to the car but I told housekeeping we will be back we are not done and she said "ok thanks". Grabbed a coffee in the bistro and went back to our room, and the door was open and all my belongings were put into a trash bag including my purse. I'm blown away by how the purse sitting on the bed didn't clue her in to the fact that we were returning . We still hadn't checked out yet by this point. I understand wanting to clean the space as quickly as possible but c'mon. Also trying to exit the parking lot directly onto I-35 I'd just terrifying. I recommend going around the parking lot around the left behind the dumpsters which will drop you off on a side street and much easier to get out. read more

My only sibling is at Seton on life support not expected to make it. My mom and dad and I are just heartbroken. We spent 14 hours at the hospital and at 7 am we were so extremely exhausted and desperately needed rest. Especially my dad. I called all over the nearby area asking every hotel I could find if we could please check in early. As in 7am early. They all said a resounding NO. Then I happened to call this Courtyard. The young man on the phone was so sweet and so understanding and he didn't hesitate and said absolutely, come on over. We will be waiting for you! Just the stress of that lifted off my shoulders was just one less worry. We got here. Checked into 2 rooms and my dad and my husband got the rest they needed (of course my mother and I couldn't sleep but we were able to not sleep in the privacy of a comfy room)... So, with that being said, this hotel, to us, is like the Four Seasons. It's not the most elaborate, fancy, or have the most amenities, but you cannot place the value of that sort of kindness beneath any sort of materialistic or cosmetic wants. NOTHING COMPARES TO THE KINDNESS WE RECEIVED FROM THIS HOTEL AND THE STAFF. THAT IS WORTH MORE THAN ANYTHING! Thank you so very much for what you did for us. **** And PS. This place provides such in accurate information and lacks completely empathy. Mold was discovered on my home, so me and my 2 cats had to evacuate. I called the Marriott Bonvoy line to inquire if there are any Marriott hotels that accept cats. The man who took my reservation said the University location does and booked me for a week. I arrive for check in, and the check in person was great. She gave me sympathy for my situation and even offered to waive the pet fee. Well halfway into the reservation all of that changed. I started receiving chats through the app that cats aren't accepted, but they will let me finish out the remainder of my stay. I informed them this isn't my problem, as it was their agents who booked me and checked me in with 2 cats. They treated me like I was a nuisance and a rebel, when I openly checked in with the 2 cats. They were not snuck in whatsoever. When check out day comes, low and behold the pet fee is on there. I messaged the front desk about it, and they said I was provided misinformation and they could not waive the fee. So I was misled when checking in and unfortunately lost an extra $80. It was such a poor experience, especially with the added stress of no longer having a permanent home any longer. read more

When my friends and I arrived at the front desk, there was no one working. There was a couple in front of our group who were also waiting. There was no staff in sight. I even called their number listed on the website and no answer. When a staff member finally came down to check us in, we were informed that our room wasn't ready. When we asked if there was any other room open, we were told that the hotel was fully booked through the weekend. We came back to the hotel a couple hours later and went up to our room. We unfortunately discovered that there was an issue with the water and it was only running extremely hot. We had to call the front desk to let them know and they were able to give us another room... despite the hotel being "fully booked". I would not come back to this hotel again. read more

Checking in for my friends birthday weekend, this seemed to be one of the nicer hotels in the area from the photos online + the pricing was a bit more than surrounding hotels so I assumed this was due to the niceness. I understand weekend staff being a little less professional, but that isn't my issue. The room itself seemed unclean when we got up there, used, dirty and just uninviting. The mattress had stains on it and the sheets were stripped?? The bathroom had active MOLD growing on the ceiling and there was an entire chunk of wood missing from the bannister above the curtains. the lobby is cute, but still dated & one of the walls of glass was shattered and boarded up. staff extremely unfriendly, didn't even ask us how are stay was upon check out??? 10/10 do not recommend. read more

New look! Loved this hotel. Loved it! Was it luxury? No. Did I love it so much I wanted to marry it then? Hellyaah! The bed was so comfortable. I reminisced my toddler years and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the fluffy pillows. Okay, I refrained from jumping on the bed. The sofa in our room was so cute and now I want one in my house. And the color palette is gorgeous. Chic. And really upbeat. I loved our room so much I wanted to spend more time just relaxing inside. The building is older and you can tell by its no frills handrails and elevators and exterior. But the wall art gives it an uplifting urban vibe. And it has a a nice bar area and pool. This hotel was booked for us by a friend by mistake, but last minute we had to stay here. The room was descent, but the a/c dripped water on floor. The bathroom had dirt and dead bugs around fan, chipped and dirty sink and tub. Holes in wall from previous fixtures. Furniture scuffed from water stains and scratches. Lamp shade dirty. The hotel was noise outside with racing engines and tires. The hallway by room people talking along with housekeeping in the early am. Food choices in hotel store are terrible. To far to walk and dark at night. Uber takes too long as well as Uber eats fees extremely expensive to deliver to this area. Will never stay here again. The looks are very deceiving. At check-in front desk clerk overwhelmed by large in flux of guest. Rear parking lot dark. I could go on and on, JUST DON'T STAY HERE!!! Terrible representation of the Marriott brand. read more

I was worried when I checked the yelp reviews of this hotel but surprisingly, I had a rather decent experience! Staff members were sweet and always got the job done. Room was spacious. I had a king size bed and a sofa that could easily sleep another person. They don't have vending machines (?) but the lobby is stocked with sodas & snack for purchase. They also have a bar and nice seating areas. Pool is decent as well. Also free HIGH SPEED WiFi! Best hotel WiFi I've ever had. My main cons for this place would be: - Dimly lit rooms. Even with all the lights turned on, it's still relatively dark. - Shower handle was broken (see pic) but not to the point where I have to ask for maintenance. It was still usable. - No shower gel. I hate using bar soaps so that was kind of annoying. - Don't know if this place is haunted but I saw "shadows" in the hallway and my room 3 times. Other than that, it's a great location. Free self parking. No need card key for elevator access, which is a plus for having anonymous hook ups. Overall, my stay was great. Didn't see any ants or whatsoever. read more

The first time I stayed in was ok, but the second time was a lot better. Sabrina (the front desk agent) was very helpful, she offered me 2 complimentary bottled waters upon arrival and even though I had a few questions/requests, she was still there to assist my wants/needs. We stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The outside could use some power washing but the inside is updated and modern. The room was a great size for the price. Laid out perfectly. The mattress had covers but not a mattress encasement (which are the covers that go all around the mattress and has a zipper closure and velcro closures. They protect the mattress from bed bugs and dust mites). Nice window in the room and bathroom. There was hair in the shower but the staff was very nice and quick to re-clean when i mentioned it. Stayed here on a trip for work and they were in the middle of renovations. While my stay wasn't bad, I was a little confused by a few things. When I checked in with my colleagues, I was happy to be recognized as a Titanium member but my colleague who checked in with someone else received two bottles of water. It was just a point of inconsistency. Also, I was a little surprised that when my colleague checked in the lady mentioned to him that they would keep us on a floor that didn't have renovations going on but three of the four of us ended up on the floor just down the hall from the renovation work. I actually didn't mind it except for the first day but I was very happy that by the time we returned to the hotel each evening the work had stopped. Lastly, I was a little surprised to see (and might be a nice touch to consider) is that other properties offer the top tier guests a free drink at the bar or free breakfast. I know it isn't required for Courtyards but still a nice touch. Would I stay here again? Nah, I'll definitely go to a real Marriott or Renaissance property with upgrades, lounges, and just all around better experience. read more

After a long day at the UT campus, the warm shower, soft bed and cold air conditioning was just what the doctor ordered. Love their Paul Mitchell products too. The young black lady at check-in would not help us with our discount, which was a disappointment. Not sure if she didn't know how or didn't want to help, but whatever. The bar area looks great in the pictures of this hotel but it doesn't look as good in person. The hotel seems heavily used and is kind-of tired. And, know that it's not just next to the campus - but no big deal, it was an easy drive. read more

I stayed at this hotel for almost week & received amazing service. Gabriel was at the front desk for a majority of the time I stayed at the hotel. His personality was great, he greeted with a smile, & was genuine. He was also super helpful with any questions or concerns we had. On top of Gabriel's excellent service. Erin was sweet as well. Very helpful & made sure we were taken care of. The little details & effort made by Erin & Gabriel made my stay. The staff overall was great. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Austin. I'm a Marriott Platinum member and have never had cause to post a negative review, but beware of this place. My room was burglarized while I was out at dinner on August 23. Hotel staff appeared genuinely concerned initially, but later I was told that based on a review of security camera's, that there was no record of anyone entering that room except for me, which is impossible. Gut feeling is that the burglar had some help there internally at that Courtyard, maybe even employed there. Regardless, I'm out a few thousand dollars worth of belongings. read more

This is about what you'd expect from a Courtyard. It's a suit hotel with a free breakfast. The lobby actually looks relatively new - so new that when wiggly kids were looking around the front desk person curtly asked them to stop. I get it, but it was hardly worth that. The room itself was nice. We had a one bedroom suite. I don't understand this bedroom suites that don't have two beds for the kids. I mean, it's a suite hotel. Who do they think is staying there? Families of one? It turns out my husband couldn't come so my daughter slept with me and didn't have to share the pull out with her brother. The room itself was fine except the lights were odd - you could turn them off in the front for the whole place which surprised my kids. Also I didn't like that the shower shared the toilet. For a suite, it would have made more sense to have the toilet in its own room and the shower outside with a door. It does have a small pool. Only bummer there is there is absolutely no shade. We had to sit behind a building to stay out of the sun. They would do well to put up a sunshade or something - otherwise it's just a rectangle in cement. read more

My car was broken into in the parking lot, windows smashed and interior ransacked. Hotel staff was friendly, but ultimately not very helpful - it's been 3 days and I still haven't heard back from their insurance company. Meanwhile I was told to "take it to that shop over there"...like I knew what that meant. I also reported on the first night that the phone in my room did not work, and the second night, and the third. The phone was never fixed. Lastly, they advertise having bistro food available in the morning and evening, but it is closed in the evening. All in all, staff was friendly but my stay was pretty frustrating.
