We were there on a Saturday night and people were everywhere. But once we stepped into the lobby there was a lovely piano bar . This hotel has a calm, refined feel to it. The bellman met us at the door, took our bags upstairs and even walked around to show us where to park. The only downside for me was that our room was just a little bit elevated from the street so we could hear a lot of the Saturday night fun that was going on. If you would prefer not to hear the street sounds you may want to request a room on a higher floor.

Here's a tip: the a/c in the Lobby is on high (my weekend it was particularly hot so it was welcome) and the breakfast area can get crowded if the property is full. Find your way to the back of the lobby past the elevators and you can take your breakfast to a small outside patio with umbrella shaded tables. When we contacted the front desk, we learned that the room's air-conditioning system was not working. The woman at the front desk was very kind and understanding, and our frustration is not directed toward her. Rather, we are extremely disappointed that the hotel assigned us a room without functioning air conditioning and did not disclose this before we checked in. Had we been informed, we would not have accepted the room--particularly on a hot summer day in the South. We understand that mechanical problems occur, and we have no objection to paying a fair price for a quality hotel room. What is unacceptable is placing guests in a room with a known problem without notifying them beforehand. Providing a portable unit without explanation made the situation feel concealed rather than honestly addressed. As a Bonvoy member, I expected greater transparency and better treatment. If you are planning to stay at the Greenville property, make sure everything in your room--especially the air conditioning--is working properly before you settle in.
