I'm rounding up a bit for the value and the staff. I end up staying here for one or two nights every few months. The rooms are always clean, all the staff is helpful and friendly, the value is great. You can walk to a few fast food/chain restaurants, including a Starbucks and Black Bear Diner. This has to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff here do not care and will do whatever is necessary to make sure you know this. First off the exterior and lobby look clearly remodeled. The rooms are dirty. The gym is absolutely nasty. The walls are super thin. I had issues with my bathroom sink not draining. I called the front desk and the lady would not even listen but went on her speech of "we are unable to change rooms" even though I was only asking for someone to come look at the sink. I again had to call front desk at midnight because the noise coming from unit above and again they "we are unable to change your room" as if they are reading a script. Save your money and go to the Sheraton a block away. read more

The rooms are very nice, the pool is large enough and heated (somewhat). The front desk is friendly and there is a Korean BBQ restaurant right next door, which was quite good but pricey. Carpets were clean and the Hotel was clean and modern. Air Conditioning was very loud in our room so we couldn't use it, pretty warm. WiFi, like almost every Marriott, is just terrible. Not sure how they attract any business people at all. Our room had almost NO WiFi at all, and it was only useable if you went to the lobby - and that was their solution - hardly a solution when most of the business that we conduct is in our room, early in the morning, with a decent WiFi connection. We travel a lot for business, so much that we are Platinum at Marriott, but they clearly need to do something about their business model, get some decent WiFi for their rooms! read more

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot on January 2026. Please beware that there is a $10 parking fee per night that was not disclosed to me. I looked at my bank statement and there it was a $60 charge that I did not utilize. There was a bar which was not open. The heater in the room was very loud. There was no microwave in the room (I don't know if this is a new thing). The staff was nice but, they don't disclose any of the extra charges to your room. You can't see the hotel from the street (no signage). I will not stay there in the future. read more

I stayed here in December 2022. This is a comfortable and average hotel in Pleasanton, California which is about an hour away from San Francisco, CA. If you are looking to stay outside of the city of San Francisco, then this hotel provides one of the best deals. GUEST ROOM -- My Ohio friend and I shared a room with 2 queen size beds at $149/night before taxes. The room was comfortable and clean. Housekeeping did clean and change towels every other day. The bathroom setup was different because the sink and sink counter was outside the toilet/shower area so while showering, you can't put your belongings/toiletries anywhere except on the floor. There is a towel rack in the shower room though. You also can't wash your hands immediately after using the toilet because the sink is not in the same room as the toilet. Thus, you have to touch the door knob and open it before washing your hands. LOBBY - Small. Relaxing chairs. No complimentary tea or coffee. No complimentary breakfast. The section to get drinks or the bar was closed often at night and I couldn't get any tea but I was given hot water in a plastic cup at two different occasions which was helpful. PARKING -- It is $7.50/night per vehicle with in and out privileges. I visited from out of state so I didn't have a car thus I did not use the hotel parking services. I did notice a parking lot at the hotel though. TIP - Courtyard is a Marriott hotel. Immediately I noticed how clean the hotel smelled. The hallways to the rooms had a fresh clean scent to it. Not a cleaning product scent, but a freshly done laundry type smell. Whichever freshener, or mister they use is worth the money. The rooms were spacious, and surprisingly the bed was soft, and comfortable. There is plenty of parking and it is located in a safe location. The 580/680 freeway was a 10 minute drive away. There is several eateries in the area, as well as a comedy club called Tommy T's that was 3 minutes away. read more

Stayed here a handful of times, but try to avoid when I can. Though it's not the worst place I've stayed at. This place isn't the greatest either. I have to admit it's nice the bathroom was upgraded. We asked for extra toothbrush and toothpaste & the person who delivered it didn't seem to have much patience. But that's ok, must of had a bad day. I'll let that slide. Phone in room doesn't work. It's a Courtyard and not the Ritz, and by that standard, it was perfectly adequate. There is plenty of parking around the building, however, the person working the frontdesk that checked us in couldn't be bothered to show us on a map where our room was so we could park near it. The room is fine - a bit drab and tired in some places, but reasonably clean and the bed was comfy enough. The wifi worked great throughout the stay and the heating/AC also worked fine. No complaints about the inside of the room whatsoever. That being said, the worse thing about this hotel is that the floors and walls are incredibly thin. A neighbor has their TV on - hope you like listening to whatever they're watching. Upstairs neighbor doing ballroom dance - you can hear if it's 3/4 or 4/4 time. People opening and shutting doors, walking through the hallways talking - yup, you'll hear it. If you are a light sleeper, be prepared and bring earplugs. read more

Worst Marriott property I have ever visited. The door lock in my room was broken so I could not lock myself in for the night. When I went back to the front desk and asked for a new room, I was told they were sold out and there was nothing she could do. I told her she needed to refund any money that was on my credit card and help me find another room in a Marriott property. She was not helpful at all. I was left sitting in the car in the parking lot looking at my Bonvoy app trying to find the next closest Marriott property, this property obviously needs a leader and someone who knows how to train their staff on how to treat a guest when you turn them out on the street in the middle of the night because they fail to properly maintain the property. Marriott should be embarrassed that this property is part of their portfolio. read more

Worst customer service. Couldn't believe this location hires employees like this at the front desk definitely doesn't represent the brand of Marriott. Booked on business a week prior to arrival. When arrived she told me Rooms were all sold out and wanted to give a room on 1st floor that was accessible. When I told her that was I unacceptable and would like to talk to manager she expressed that she was the one in charge. I asked for her managers name and then her 1st name and last name and with attitude said she didn't have to give me that. I then expressed I've been working all day and tired and she stated back that's she's working too! WTH! So unprofessional. She had a temper and as I was leaning over to grab a pen she snatched and yelled at me not to put my hand over the counter. . I was so frustrated I stopped talking to her because she a fighter and told her to cancel my room. I decided to book at another near by Marriott. . When I called them they were so pleasant and offered me a fabulous room and a glass of wine when I arrived. This location needs to learn to respect guests and understand they are coming to the hotel to rest ! Worst experience I have ever had at a Marriott and will never come back to this location and will ensure my colleagues never book here. Nicely upgraded hotel with quiet rooms and long hallways. Gym was lacking in mats, cycle and the only bench was rickety and needed to be screwed together. When we arrived in our room there were drying fans and the ac unit's cover was off. I guessed there was a leak but the carpet was dry so although were offered a new room, we decided to stay and not pack up again When we woke up the carpet was all wet, as well as our shopping bags full of new clothes from shopping the night prior. My wife called and to our surprise they Comped the room for our troubles. Five stars for making it right, but tighten up that bench (all you'll need is an Allen wrench) read more

Booked here for a business trip back to pleasanton by accident, as I normally would book something far closer to my office. When I arrived to check in the front desk let me know the only room they had left had been smoked in (the whole hotel has a strict no smoking policy) and they tried to cover it with some sort of air freshener. Unfortunately air freshener + cigar smoke just makes everything smell that much worse! The front desk and the guy that showed me the room to make sure I would be ok with it were both super nice and helpful tho, sounds like they got stuck with a weird situation of a prior guest being a jerk and breaking the rules. To their credit, they put me up at the Four Points down the street and comped my first night! What's ironic is the Sheraton has a free shuttle that took me to and from the office but I only got to enjoy it for one day, since the Courtyard has no shuttle. The rooms leave a lot to be desired, and man did I wish they had a jacuzzi on a misty cool night. All in all I'll go with somewhere else going forward that has a shuttle like Four Points and either breakfast or a late afternoon happy hour for guests like the Residence Inn. read more

Usually a three star place but an extra star for friendly staff on the Caffé. Loved the blueberry pancake breakfast and found it better than what usually CY serves. Another plus was a good gym which was kept clean and well functional. Be prepared to walk hallways because I think it's a sprawling property with only one elevator. read more

This is a fantastic, warm, welcoming property in Pleasanton. My son and I went to the Good Guys car show at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton and needed a hotel for one night. This Courtyard by Marriott is convenient to Highways 580 and 680, downtown Pleasanton, and to the fairgrounds. Additionally, there is a great, family-style restaurant just feet away. In addition to the clean, large, well-appointed rooms, each room has either a patio or a balcony, which was so nice on a beautiful summer evening. From a welcoming front desk staff to a cocktail on the balcony, we had a wonderful stay and highly, highly recommend this hotel! read more

In the time of Covid many things have changed. And that includes a few things at the Courtyard by Marriott. In a nutshell this is a decent place to stay in Pleasanton. I had some work being done on my home so I chose to stay here for three days. When I arrived I noted that the hotel bistro was mostly closed save Thursday-Sunday (My stay did not include those days so I missed it entirely!). However, there are plenty of eating establishments nearby. Rooms are spacious (at least mine was) and the place is generally quiet. Let the buyer beware (Ergo, my reason for three stars): You must request room cleaning in order for it to happen! I was not told by the front desk nor did I turn on the television ensuring that I would see that note. It was incredibly frustrating and I feel it was a low mark for Marriott in general (I've ranted about Marriot stays across the country where cleaning was at an all time low! Fortunately, this establishment does not fall into that category. Ask for your room to be cleaned daily!). Beyond the room cleaning snafu, I think this is a worthwhile place. Third, the towels were very old, rough and DINGY. Looks like they were used to wash cars! Fourth, the furniture in the room RATTLES when anyone walks around on the floor above... Auto lights in the rooms... if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, all the lights will come on and wake everyone up!!! June 18th, 2022, some time between 2:00 pm and 11:00 pm, our room was broken into. The entry was made through the poolside sliding door. We had checked the sliding door prior to leaving and left a room light on. Cash and an HSA card was stolen from my purse which I placed inside our suitcase under clothing. Although the decision and responsibility to leave my purse inside our suitcase is mine. The security of the room is understood to be safe for the customers stay. The sliding door locking system was easily compromised allowing for entry. This is not only an issue of lost property but could have been an issue of personal harm. I can not dismiss the anxiety of this truth. Our lives could have been in harm's way if we were in the room when this breach occurred. When customers make reservations in a reputable hotel like The Marriott Bonvoy enterprise, it is assumed that the room locks provide an adequate level of security for both the guests and their property. There is no doubt in my mind this has happened before. It is paramount the hotel takes this issue seriously and installs higher quality locks and perhaps metal bars to lay in the slider track. It is more than unfortunate that we have had this experience as it has triggered my concern for your future guests well-being. read more

I'm giving the hotel a review of three because I was over charged. I prepaid for my room days prior to arriving online through the Marriott website. At the time of booking, the total stay was charged to my card, which was fine. The day before I was set to arrive, I received an email asking if I would like to check in via email and I had an option to receive a key via phone scan or actual key at time of arrival. I did the online check in and opted to receive an actual room key upon arrival. Before getting to the hotel, I was alerted by banking notifications of a charge. The hotel had charged an additional $128 and change to my reservation! I asked the check-in representative when I got to the hotel. She stated she didn't see the charge on her end and I should contact my bank. I asked was it a deposit? She said no and then said she'd need my card to charge a $40 deposit that would be returned upon check out. Meanwhile I called the bank while at the check in desk and the bank verified it was the same hotel who did the second charge and it was charged after midnight on the day I was to arrive. So the bank representative said I could file a claim, which I did. The hotel representative waived the $7.50 a day parking fee which was nice, but I want my $128 back that was charged to my card for no apparent reason. And, it has been deducted from my account and is no longer a pending hold. So my original question remains ....why was I charged another fee in the first place? Do to this, I will not stay at this hotel again. I don't like the fact that a mysterious charge from their hotel can come up on my bank account and no one at the hotel knows why and claims they can't see it, although my bank told me it was charged from the same location. Update: I spoke to the manager Kurt and he was able to issue me a refund. Apparently some type of way the system showed a different reservation for me which had been cancelled for the day before I arrived at the hotel. I'm not sure how that happened because I didn't make any other reservations. Nonetheless, the manager Kurt was understanding of my situation and agreed to refund the additional charge with no issues. I appreciate him doing that and handling the matter so professionally and quickly. Due to that reason, I am changing my review from a three stars to five star. Other than that initial issue, the hotel was clean. The room was clean and the eatery inside the hotel had fresh and hot food. read more

Stayed here for an overnight stay with girlfriends for a comedy night out at Tommy T's. Staff was absolutely friendly and inviting. Props to the girls who work coffee/food/bar area at night before we left for the show. They were so helpful and wonderful. My room with a single bed (Room 117) was clean and roomy with provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash pumps in the shower. My only complaint was that they shut down the coffee/food/bar area at 10:00AM on a Sunday morning and then supposed to open back up at 5:00PM? WHO DOES THAT?! Ugh, I checked out before the Noon hour and walked over to be told they were closed. No coffee for this gal made me irritable before I left. No bueno Courtyard, no bueno. read more

Not what I would expect from a Marriott hotel. There was such a strong "moldy" smell in the room. The bathroom was dingy and the tub did not appear clean. Hate seeing hair in the tub. The sliding door to the patio on the first floor did not latch and lock. Thank God for the bar that prevented the door from opening. Really could use some sweeping on the outside patio / balcony area. Adding this location to my travel folder to prevent from staying here in the future. read more

The hotel is "okay". There isn't anything special, and but the service is bad. I stayed here on a business trip, and they charged me for a $2.50 water bottle that I didn't even touch (I bring my own refillable water bottle everywhere I travel). I attempted to call them 3 times to fix this charge, but they put me on hold all three times and then hung up. Maybe they thought they could get away with charging such a small amount for business travel, but that is not a respectable practice. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. My coworkers told me that the surrounding hotels are better options. If you do stay here, watch out for any unexpected charges. read more

AVOID if possible! Old house smell. Water smells like mildew, probably from the pipe. Walls are paper thin. I can hear TV from next door. Room is kind of old and not that clean. Feels more like a motel with that musty dusty moldy smell. Cobwebs wrapped around the fire sprinkler that is right above the headboard. See photos. Don't be surprised if pieces of that cobwebs or a spider falls on your face when you're sleeping. Saw several pillows on the hallway floor, too. Makes me wonder where they have been putting pillows that I rest my face on at night. Gross. I woke up at midnight because the smell of the room was so strong. I snowboard fed around and realized that the pillows were the source (or one of the sources of the smell. SHAME ON YOU MARRIOTT for offering customers this quality of hotel service. read more

Not what I'm used to in a Marriott brand. Disappointed in the condition of the balcony - spider web/nest everywhere. Sweeping the balcony once a month would have gotten rid of 80% of what I saw. We stayed here on a Thursday. We were able to check in early which was nice. Went to the restaurant next door since the little Bistro has extremely limited hours and, as other yelpers noted, and had no staff monitoring or signs the counter was closed! I went down before 10 am to get breakfast, had to rouse a front desk employee to find out what's up and they informed me they stop serving at 9:30 am. WHAT?! Ended up with some coffee and just gave up. The room seemed clean. Warning = the walls are THIN! I could hear the next door HVAC unit all night long - ALL. NIGHT. I slept in a state of anxiety that was in no way comfortable. The room was also set up in an odd configuration - the door of the room was 'above' the head of the bed - again, anxiety-inducing. I read some of the other reviews stating in-room water was $2.50 - we called the front desk first to make sure the little bottles were complementary - I better not see a charge on my hotel bill as we were told our bill was fine and we could just leave the keys and leave. Good location, free parking, the lobby is nice - but everything else looks casino carpet / older guest rooms. I'll try The Four Points next time I'm in the area - or I'll just avoid the area. My employer only has a select group of hotels they will book so that is the only reason I've been a frequent guest the last few months. Pros- good location with plenty of parking - nice looking lobby - staff is nice Cons - one elevator for entire hotel - room are older but usually clean (always find a few hairs in tub or on side of bed ) - no complimentary breakfast - limited food selection and can be very slow For business travel it's fine. You guys really need to get the food selection better (how about fruit option instead of fries) and faster. read more

I came here on a work trip- arrived at 9pm tired and ready to rest. My reservation was made by the doctor I work for and they are a platinum membership mind you. Well they would not let me check into my room because I didn't have the card on file with me... and they needed a hand written signature of the card holder. ***This Courtyard has all the great pluses of a Courtyard by Marriott like comfortable and clean rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary parking, a 24-hour fitness center, and a reasonable room rate (one of the least expensive options in and around the Bay Area); unfortunately, it is a long drive to get to San Francisco from this Courtyard*** Courtyard by Marriott properties feel so similar. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Most Courtyards feature complimentary parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, a 24-hour fitness center, a bright and modern lobby with a variety of seating and lots of power outlets, and rooms that are functional but also very comfortable. Courtyards are often located in rural and suburban areas and usually feature more reasonably priced room rates than Marriotts. This Courtyard has all of those pluses. It is also one of the least expensive properties in or around the Bay Area. The inexpensive room rate might have a lot to do with this Courtyard's location. This Courtyard seems to be in a very nice and safe neighborhood, but there does not appear to be that much to do in the immediate vicinity and it is a very long drive to get to San Francisco. There were a few other areas where this Courtyard fell short compared to other Bay Area Courtyards though they were only minor flaws. The room was warm when entering (the A/C was off). The door was left ajar too. The rest of the hotel was very pleasant though. Service at the front desk was friendly and polite. The room was comfortable and very clean. Marriott Rewards Platinum members receive 400 bonus points and an arrival food or beverage gift--a choice from the market including options like bags of chips, bottled drinks and even a pint of Haagen-Dazs ice cream. While this Courtyard by Marriott is not really a great option for a long stay because of the limited dining and entertainment options in the area, it is good for a business stay or a short stay because of the comfortable rooms and the great room rates. As already mentioned, this Courtyard offers complimentary self parking. It is easy finding an open space. read more

I stayed here to be closer to work for a week. While my room was a lot nicer than I had anticipated, it was on the third floor and the elevator was on the OTHER side of the building. Don't get me wrong... the stairs were perfectly fine.... except for when I was 'moving in' and 'moving out'.... if you know what I mean. I never had to bother the desk for anything other than my checking in. It was nice and quiet and conveniently located to pretty much anything I needed. But I do have to mention the furnishings again. The linens were wonderful and the choices of colors were very pleasing to the eyes. It had a nice sized desk for your laptop and such. The vanity area was seperate from the shower and toilet and had the perfect amount of room. My balcony had a view of the parking lot and buildings behind. Horrible... this place exists to rip off corporate travelers. Where to begin... the room they gave me REEKED of smoke. When I went to work the next morning, I left the window open to let the stink out. Well the maid closed it, to preserve that foul odor for me. I will have to wash everything I brought with me, because it now stinks. Even my brand new suitcase stinks. I was promised a breakfast... so I was counting on getting a bagel and maybe a piece of fruit. I didn't expect much... well I got NOTHING so I was hungry all morning. Thanks a lot ! They have a crappy coffee shop in place of a breakfast buffet, and want $10 for a breakfast sandwich you would have to wait in line to get. I got in late, after midninght. The door was locked, with instructions only for how to use your key. No instructions for calling a night clerk for registartion... nothing. I was exhausted.... I realized you could easily slide the door open. This got the night clerk's attention... and she yelled at me for not knowing that you're supposed to push the unlabeled intercom button. I literally could not believe what was happening. This building is huge, for the rooms in the back, you have to walk almost a block. I never found the elevator.. so you get to drag your luggage up three flights of stairs to get lost in the maze. They are charging my employer $150 a night. I see other people on this site writing about paying $40 for rooms, which is about what it is worth. I plan on calling my company's travel agency and telling them what an awful place this is. The good: Good, clean rooms. Nice property. Marriott never disappoints there. No jacuzzi in pool area. $7 for a 20 oz. dr. Pepper and small 16 oz. Gatorade? Ummm, okay. Have to wait around at bistro for workers who are in the back room doing God knows what to come out 3 minutes later and notice you're there. This seems to be a recurring problem at several courtyard bistros I have been too. The snarky front desk girl who seems to thinks she's the smartest girl in any room she's in and constantly on stage doing a stand up routine cracking dry, sardonic one-liners doesn't make matters better by explaining (with a little attitude) that it's no big deal, and that she simply calls over when she's sees people waiting and a bell rings on the back and the bistro person comes out. This ignores the obvious: 1. Guests shouldn't be waiting in the FIRST place. If this is happening often then the system is broken and needs to be fixed. 2. A guest shouldn't have to walk clear across the lobby back to the check in desk to have her call over to the bistro. 3. What if the desk clerk is just helping other guests and doesn't notice the folks waiting across the big room at the bistro? It's just a silly, backwards system that could be corrected if Courtyard trained their bistro staff to check the front counter more often, or installed a camera, or installed a bell for the customer to ring. I'm a hugely loyal marriott guy. 42 nights this year already. I think I'm done with courtyard. Residence Inn offers far more as a brand and has better customer service. read more

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times with no issues. On January 7, 2022, my boyfriend and I came to this hotel around midnight and was told by the front desk that there were no more rooms. She said her name was Laleen (lay-lean). The front door was locked and we were told through the intercom that they were booked. We ended up going inside when a couple left. She kept telling us they were booked. I knew she was lying and just didn't want to do her job. Turns out, I was right! They were NOT booked and we managed to book a room for the night! I should have known when I tried calling the morning of check-in date that this place was going to be bad news bears. Check-in is at 2pm, I think but I was going to be able to check-in until 8pm so I wanted to let them know. I tried calling x4 around 4pm and no answer. Oh boy. When I did check-in at 8pm, things went smoothly. The room was fine - some weird set-up but it was fine. I was there for a wedding so the Bride has reserved an additional suite for us to get ready in. The night before (around 8:30pm to 9pm), we received a noise complaint - no loud music was playing. Then at 9pm, we received a knock on the door that we were walking too loudly...excuse me. We asked what she recommended we do? Crawl? Tip-toe? She said the noise complaint came from below - we told her we were not being any louder than family of 4 staying in a suite would be. We suggested that if the people below had an issue to move them, unless they wanted us to move the bride's wedding dress... An hour later, we received a note apologizing.
