It's a shame. I used to enjoy this hotel but my recent visit was terrible due to the hotel fraudulently charging my credit card extra fees. Unfortunately, this will be the last time I ever stay at this Courtyard Marriott. Paid for my room in full for two nights that included all taxes and fees for $351. When I arrive to the hotel the clerk behind the counter asked for the billing card used to purchase the Room for the weekend. The card on file was used for incidentals. That never a problem with me as long as the charge is pending and then never hits my account. A few days later I checked my bank and courtyard billed me for an $47 incidental for no reason at all. When I attempted to call multiple times to get it resolved, not one person could tell me why I was billed and kept sending me on a wild goose chase by transferring me to different numbers. Since all this is occurring, I'll never stay in another courtyard Marriott again. The customer service is absolutely horrendous and if you don't want your card fraudulently charged fees, stay clear of this business. There are so many better hotels in the area. This certainly isn't one of them. read more

We've stayed at this hotel several times, because we have an niece in college that we kind of visit. The hotel feels modern and fresh, the staff are always friendly, the lobby is always clean. They never run out of parking spaces, even though Hotel is isolated from the surrounding area, because they have the very large back lot. So why only only 2 stars? First off, there are no electric vehicle chargers. Secondly, the hotel feels new and clean and nice, yet things are falling apart very rapidly. I will enclose pictures of drawers that don't open, trim on the nice colored wood cabinets surrounding the television and wardrobe that's completely missing, a spider in the bathroom, and cleaned area behind the bathroom door that you only see if you close the door and look for it, a lot of grime between the sink bowl and the stone countertop, Formica on the door that is cracked, and a towel rack that is not just starting to rust, but it is well along its journey. But the straw that broke the camels back saying for us was lifting up the toilet seat and finding a lot of uncleaned stains on the bottom of the toilet seat. That's just unsatisfactory because that's one of the things that people look for a hotel is a clean toilet. read more

Every time I assume a hotel will be a great selection based on its name and reputation I'm sorely disappointed. This time is no different but I'm highly disappointed. My complaints: 1. This is a Marriott property. From my research this property was built in 2011. Ok, and I can tell that nothing has been updated. Bathtubs have been recaulked sloppily. Chairs are stuck in a recline fashion. Beds are impossible to sleep on because they are highly uncomfortable. Walls in the rooms are grimy. And the list goes on. 2. This property does not disclose all fees upon check-in. After a late check-in and being tired from driving 10+ hours, my credit card notified me the total amount deducted, $65 more than the amount of the reservation. I asked about it the next morning and they explained that these were incidental fees, in case of damage in the room. No disclosure of this prior to check-in, nor at check-in. 3. While I was aware that this property did not provide breakfast, I did not expect that their "bistro" would be a one-man show. We attempted to get some water near closing time but the person stayed in the back. After that experience I chose not to request anything else. I'm familiar with the Washington area and knew there are multiple restaurants in the area so the bistro was never on our list to eat. 4. This property is dog friendly. While I have no issues with that, people are not responsible with their dogs. Upon getting to my room a dog comes flying towards my family, unleashed. We have pups ourselves - it's unnerving for a dog to run full speed towards someone. Luckily the pup was cute, the owner was super apologetic, but...a leash would have solved this interaction. The hotel has notices in the elevator that specifically states all dogs need to be leashed. 5. Parking fees of $4/day. I laugh at this because what??? We're in Washington, PA. The property is tucked away, and no other businesses are located nearby. Upon check-in they do not ask about any information on your vehicle. So...is everyone being charged for parking? Say I used Uber - how would they know? Or if I had multiple vehicles, is it still $4/day or per reservation? And why is there a fee? I just don't understand. 6. Last (not really but this review is long enough)...the toilets. Have you seen the episode of Married with Children when AL Bundy wanted a toilet that goes "varoosh"? He wanted a powerful toilet with a powerful flush. Well, the flush on these things shakes the whole toilet. Al Bundy would be proud. I'm a chicken, after the first flush and my soul left my body, every time afterwards I would flush preparing myself for a quick exit. No kidding I asked my kid if he was scared (of course he wasn't) but hell...it was unnerving for me. So overall...nope, I don't see myself staying at this property again. Not worth my time or money. We thought we had, we were rudely informed we were mistaken while we tried to clarify. The smell of chloramine welcomed us on entry, chloramine is used up chlorine ie, no longer sanitizing water. Pool was yuck, cracked sink. Just not as advertised. Stay away! read more

Awful experience, I checked out early. First, I checked in late at night and I noticed the TV had a dark blue tint. I told the front desk in the morning, and they said they'd look into it. When I got back, I could tell by the position of the remote that someone had been to the room, but the dark blue tint remained. Second, there was in-room coffee provided, but no cups. Third, I chose the $10 food and beverage credit vs points when I checked in, but the lobby Starbucks only let me choose a coffee, bagel, or a muffin with it. So a 10 dollar credit essentially became worth $3. It's a shame because the hotel has high end finishes, but the service was awful. Never again. read more

I will attempt to describe Marbin's stay at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Washington PA, by starting the review at the present moment and working my way back through time to the beginning, scene by scene (like in the film Memento). 11:46 pm - I am stoned out of my mind laying in bed with a laptop, yelping about the fancy hotel in which Marbin is spending the night. The space is decorated with hideous modern art. I see abstract statues, cubist paintings, and reading lamps shaped like telescopes. The pieces are all profoundly ugly, tasteless, and trivial, and their only purpose is to distinguish a Marriott hotel room from a lesser hotel room in the mind of a person who knows absolutely nothing whatsoever about art. Luckily, that person is me and it's totally working!!! Looks fancy! Somehow the abstract art in this room is much more pleasing than the classical art that is typically hung at the choice hotel rooms that we usually stay in. I am unsure of what all these random shapes are supposed to represent and as I look at these terrible art pieces, I find that my judgment is somewhat suspended, and that my mind is less scrutinizing than it would be If I were looking at a child level illustration of a tree at a Quality Inn. Good Job Marriott, very clever!!! Also currently happening, one bandmate is fucking around on his phone by me and the other two are eating Doritos and watching Joel Osteen on TV (Weird choice). 11:00 pm - I am standing in the parking lot of a Marriott Hotel. A bandmate is explaining to me exactly how he got into smoking blunts instead of bowls, as he passes me a blunt. Apparently a friend of his presented him with a hypothetical situation as a sort of mental exercise (the purpose of this hypothetical was to advocate for blunt smoking). The question posed by the bandmate's friend was: "What would Future do?" (Future, apparently, is a contemporary hiphop artist that many of the kids are listening to these days). The answer, as far as I could tell, was that Future would smoke the blunt rather than the bowl for some reason. I try not to cough (I cannot). 10:44 pm - We pull up to a Marriott hotel, consumed with anticipation for our stay at the lavish and iconic hotel. A bandmate is singing "well we're movin' on up to the east side",The classic theme song from the quintessential television show The Jeffersons (This song is meant to symbolize the triumphant feeling that a family collectively feels as they jointly experience upward socio-economic mobility as a unit. This important and beautiful sentiment is sadly no longer promoted to the masses by the powers that be these days. However, I believe that it is important to pause and recognize that the principle encapsulated within this sentiment is the pursuit of happiness, which of course is one of the pillar stones on which the American dream itself delicately rests upon. The poetic symbolism and relevance of this song to our upcoming stay at the Marriott Hotel is felt by all. 10:25 pm - We finish loading our van with gear after a very successful and energetic show while one bandmate books a room at a nearby Comfort Inn. Suddenly, a fan named Ben (looking glamorous wearing a gold Marbin t-shirt with all of our faces on it), tells us that his brother works at a casino that is connected to a Marriott hotel in town. He then tells us that he could get us a great price on a room. The band is overjoyed!! We quickly cancel our reservation and begin our drive to the Marriott Hotel! Our hearts are full of excitement. 8:00-9:35pm - Marbin shreds super hard and set in motion a series of events that will end up inspiring a fan named Ben to pull some strings and get them a hotel room that they could not afford without a great discount. (1:01 am) - In conclusion, The Courtyard Marriott is absolutely BITCHIN'!!! Also, I am very hungry (suffering greatly from a dire case of the munchies) but there is no way I am getting out of bed. Passing thru and my in-laws has extra rewards for free night so I can't complain about price. Beds are okay but firmer than I'm used to. Coffee table was so wobbly it's pointless to even have it in the room. There are toenail clipping near the couch that are stuck in carpet that was not vacuumed. Cable was useless. Kept going in and out. The good news is the bathrooms were HUGE and shower was amazing! (Walk-in) no tub. It was hot but I was up early. They have great spaces to do business on the go and even have a bistro within the hotel to get hot breakfast and coffee since it's not provided. They even have a market too for food on the go and newspapers! If you ask them at the front, they will give you coupons to Tanger Outlets near by which is worth a stop. Plenty of parking. read more

The Bistro/Bar set up is a real joke. Morning breakfast and evening drinks/food. You have only one lady who takes orders. The same lady cooks food and serves. The same lady takes money. There were plenty of people who stayed and one person and one meal at a time we got served. Absolutely terrible service set up. Worse? Breakfast at 9 am and she said she only has raw bacon and no time to cook it; no toppings for French Toast; no time for more coffee right now but will get to it in 40 minutes. How can you run a hotel with patrons and offer food and beverages but incapable of meeting the appropriate service level for 10 guests and at the price you charge ?! A joke! This is a nice courtyard not new but has been updated and is clean and well maintained. Nice walk in showers. The front desk staff is always polite and friendly as are the ladies in the breakfast/bistro area. The breakfast options are standard courtyard. keep in mind breakfasts at courtyards are not included thus most are made to order which I prefer, with a few grab and go selections. I love the lemon/ricotta pancakes but outside of the CA courtyards the avocado toast just doesn't cut it. The location is great near the Tanger outlets, although based on the hills and traffic not sure I'd walk it. Close to the highway for ease of on off and near many restaurants and shops and a nearby casino. read more

OMG! This is a dream! I think this is the most number of free outlets I've seen in any hotel room! Not including the bathroom, there are 13 open, unused outlets in the room...all available without moving a single piece of furniture! The desk alone (where you're likely to have most of your electrical equipment) has 6! **A/C Location Makes Sense...Kinda I get really annoyed with some rooms where the A/C vent is right behind the desk, so when you're sitting there doing work, it's blowing at your back and neck, which gets very annoying! Well, here, it's on the right side of the desk. So, if you're sitting there, you'll probably feel the breeze on your ankles and feet. Not the worst thing in the world. The other thing that bugs me is when the vent is directly underneath the curtains, so all the wind it generates is lost in blowing the curtains. It's poor design. Well, here, the vent juts out about a foot and a half, which is about 4 inches past the curtain, so the wind is actually circulating in the room! Thank you for thinking about that! **Starbucks & Bistro Having stayed at a lot of Courtyards, having a Bistro and/or Starbucks is a pretty awesome thing! Instead of having to wake up 15 minutes earlier for you to stop by a Starbucks, you can get a few extra Zzz's and just pick one up on your way out...and charge it to your room! Food at the Bistro takes a while to make, though, so I usually opt out or get something ready made, like a muffin. They do serve dinner too, by the way. **Location The location of this Courtyard is awesome! It's right in front of the Tanger Outlets. In my rush to pack and not be late for the cab, I left my PJ shorts at home. So, I went to Under Armor and bought some comfy shorts for $11! Nice and easy! Plus, down the hill across the street is the Meadows race track (horse racing) and casino. The casino's pretty nice too. On top of that, there are some decent restaurants close by (Palazzo 1837 Ristorante: http://www.yelp.com/biz/palazzo-1837-ristorante-washington#hrid:X6dTOpRgbx_0wS_E9CBVlg), a number of fast food options, and a Waffle House! **Elevation Sort of to go along with the location, Race Track Road is a somewhat busy street, but it's also near I-79 too, but this Courtyard is up the hill quite a ways from the road, so it's pretty nice and quiet - away from the hustle and bustle. The Tanger Outlets are half a hill above you too, so you don't have to worry about hearing any of that either. My room faced the hill, so nothing exciting there, but if you had the opposite side, I'm sure the view is awesome. Hell, the view from the parking lot is cool! CONS **Pricey I'm here for work, so it ain't coming out of my wallet, but $179 a night for Washington, PA? That's steep! I suppose the casino and horse racing is the reason for all the hotels in the area though. Still, I've been in nicer cities, more populated cities, more attraction filled cities with cheaper hotel prices. I dunno, maybe January is a special month for something? **No Free Breakfast Usually when a Courtyard has a Bistro and/or Starbucks, you lose out on the free breakfast or even continental breakfast. Unless I missed it, I don't even think there's free coffee, other than what you have in your room. Usually they'll have those pump dispensers of hot coffee in the lobby, but since there's Starbucks, they don't even do that. Everything has to be paid for. Not that it's any cheaper, but you can charge it to your room though...so...it kinda feels free ;) OTHER NOTES **Fitness Center 3 treadmills, and a decent set of dumbbells. There's also a bench, which increases the number of exercises you can do dramatically! **Cool Pool The hot tub is elevated, and there's a slit in it that makes a little waterfall flow into the swimming pool. We stopped here and stayed the night while driving to Ohio. It's conveniently located off I-79 but you don't hear the highway traffic at all. It's conveniently located by the Tanger Outlets and The Meadows Racetrack. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. It looks like the hotel is pretty new or they just do a good job keeping it clean. Off the lobby was a sitting area with a big screen television. The pool and fitness area appeared to also be well maintained and clean too. If you need a place to stay near the freeway or somewhere outside Pittsburgh (about 30 minutes from downtown), I would highly recommend this place. read more

I was here on a business trip in which the rooms were clean and the staff was nice. However, the one thing that made me give it an average review was that during a warning by the county not to drink the water or brush your teeth with it the hotel was only handing out one bottle of water. Yes, it was not their fault if water contamination happened in the local water supply. However, they should have provided more than one bottle of water. That seemed cheap and disappointing. The hotel itself was quite okay for the rate charged. My final bill was not what I expected to pay. At 9:30 a.m. I looked at my bill and saw the $4.95 data charge (internet use) which is waived for Marriott platinum members. Just before going to the bistro I stopped by at reception and said that the data charge was there. The receptionist assured me that this comes off for platinum members. At breakfast I paid cash for my breakfast because I was nervous that there would be a billing error. I then separately ordered my coffee which is my platinum gift. The bistro lady tells me that I must sign for the coffee but that it would come off my bill. I checked out at noon and I told the receptionist that the data charge should not be there and not should the coffee be there. She laughed at my coffee remark and I then explained that I signed for the coffee but that it was my platinum gift. She printed out my invoice and looked at it, and said, "here you go." Guess what? The data charge was there on the top line. I waited for 5 minutes for her to remove the charges and then I said that I'll fetch my car and park it in front and then run in to get my bill. Five minutes later I return in and she told me that the manager was there and that he'd taken the charge off. But try as she may she could not get the charge off (the one that she told me would automatically come off). I said that I was in a hurry, please fix the bill later and just charge me the correct amount. That was Friday. It is now Sunday and I just checked my credit card charges on the bank's website. Guess what? They charged me for BOTH the data charge and the coffee. Exactly the two things that should not have been on the bill. I posted this review on a travel site two weeks ago. The manager replied, "we apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. We're investigating our records. Thank you for your patience." Guess what? Nothing's happened. Two weeks! read more

Nice suite, except: The legs on the desk, the desk I needed to use, were very loose. This made the desk quite wobbly. So, wobbly, in fact, that I couldn't use it for writing. With a pad in hand, I retreated to the couch, only to sink deep into it when I sat down. The springs were broken. I sunk so deeply within the frame of the couch that it was uncomfortable to sit on, so I ended up using the bathroom counter to write on, as I stood. Not what I had in mind when I paid for a suite. The shower was a little bit of heaven - huge walk-in shower, and plenty of water pressure. Wi-Fi was free, but very spotty. There is no complimentary breakfast, but a short-order counter across from the lobby where they'll cook some eggs to order, etc. There are tables and chairs in that area. I'd give this place another try, but not without checking the furniture for relative sturdiness first. read more

It's pretty unfortunate when you spend $200 on 1 night in a hotel & have to hold your breath to go in the bathroom. Our bathroom smelled awful like sewage. I had to go to the front desk and buy bottled water so my boyfriend and I could brush our teeth because the water even smelled. We mentioned it to the front desk who didn't seem too concerned. Luckily there's plenty of other hotels in the area we can try next time. read more

This is your typical Courtyard, but it does have some nice thing and some not so nice things. The staff is very nice and friendly which is always a welcome for Marriott. The bistro is nice but a very limited menu is always a downside. My king bedroom was nice and neat and well cleaned. The gym is very small and pool looks merky and not very welcoming. read more

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was a big ol cockroach just hanging out by the coffee machine. Took care of it myself, but my real problem is with the Marriott Points system. I never received the points for my stay which the woman at the front desk assured me I'd receive. After a couple weeks and still no points, I tried to file a missing stay receipt to correct their error. However, the website has a glitch that does not allow you to submit without an attached receipt, and does not allow you to attach a receipt. Making it impossible to file. Then tried calling customer service. After near an hour of being bounced from department to department, I hung up and called the hotel directly. The woman I spoke to assured me that her manager would take care of it and I'd see the points in 24-48 hours. Waited another week and still no points. Called again and was told the exact same thing. Another week later and here I am, on hold with customer service, 18 minutes and still have yet to speak with anyone. I travel a lot, and was hoping Marriott would be a good way to earn points for my loyalty, but will no longer be staying here. read more

Completely satisfied customer. My husband and I stayed one night for a little getaway and to enjoy the outlets (we aren't casino seen people and liked the it was the opposite side of the highway from the casino). Room was new and clean, pool and fitness center were nice and clean, jacuzzi was clean and hot (lots of chlorine, but hey, I'm sure no germs were alive in there). Things that other reviews complained which I disagree: 1. I found a great selection of tv channels, everything I watch at home, TLC, HGTV, history, A&E, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, USA, TBS, HBO and many more! Not to mention the cute tv swivel system ghat we had in our king size bed room. 2. Bed was great and comfy! Perhaps they fixed that already I stayed on may 4, 2013. 3.No problem finding parking and I quite enjoyed the hotels stance and participation in the "green" movement. Wasn't bothered by the assigned spaces and absolutely LOVE that the hotel is completely smoke free! Staff was friendly and compitent You could walk to the outlets CLEAN! Which is most important to me (I even lifted the mattress, clean under there too! 3 miles Down the road are 5 more plazas with restaurants, shopping, salons, and all you could want! Very nice looking hotel but the service wasn't the best. It started with reserving a block of rooms for our wedding. The girl we dealt with was not responsive and not exactly pleasant to deal with. Then we had three guests call us and tell us they tried to make a reservation and the hotel said they had no block for our wedding. We got it figured out with the guy who answered the phone but the girl who was the sales manager didn't help us or apologize for her mistake. Then when we went to stay the night before our wedding, the girl at the front rudely told me I don't have a reservation. I spelled my name a few times telling her I have the reservation confirm on my phone and she kept saying "nope, sorry no reservation. and we're booked." I just stood there and told her to keep looking. She then saw the reservation and didn't apologize for her mistake. Then, my husband called for a late check out on Saturday morning, the same girl said ok, then he called back at 12:30pm to actually check out. She rudely told him that he's too late and he was supposed to check out at noon. He reminded her he JUST talked to her about checking out late when she responded, "oh ya." Then we hosted a breakfast in a meeting room they had on Sunday morning. I reserved the room with my credit card but my dad talked to the same front desk girl and said he wanted the balance to be put on his card and to remove my card from the record. She agreed and told him it was done. Then I check my credit card statement and the full balance was put on my card. Overall, not the best experience, especially for my wedding night. I sent a complaint to Marriott and got an email response from a manager who apologized for the service at the front desk and she gave me a bonus 5000 marriott points, which is kind but doesn't solve the service issue. But it's good to know that Marriott reads the surveys you take after you stay. read more

I booked this hotel based off the reviews and it's a decent hotel it was clean and the beds were nice. It's about 30 minutes away from downtown Pittsburgh but it's really close to the tanger outlet mall literally like 1 minute away. But the reason I am giving it 2 stars is because paid for my reservation in full before I came and I still got charged for the room and when I asked for an explanation on why the first time the front desk girl lied and said I was never charged prior to coming when my bank statement clearly showed otherwise. They did fix it and the money was returned the next day. Then I checked out on Sunday and Monday they charged me yet again for a room that was already paid for and days later I'm waiting on my money to be refunded into my account. I do understand mistakes happen but 2 times in one visit. Hmm. I personally won't return to this hotel and if you do stay here just check your bank account afterwards to make sure you weren't overcharged. read more

I would like to give this hotel a great rating but I broke out into a rash, because the sheets had way too much bleach in them. I understand that you want the linens to be clean, but a little goes a long way with bleach. Everyone in the hotel was friendly and nice ... it was just the sheets are making me itchy a day later. read more

New hotel, built in June 2011. Decent hotel for the area. This is my fourth hotel in Washington, PA and it has to be in my top 2. The TV stations are half sports related, so that is a mark-off. (When I live 5 nights a week away from home, it's nice to have some decent tv channels). The front desk people did not acknowledge my status with Marriott or offer anything beneficial. The rooms are new and beautiful. The bistro setting is great, as is the Starbucks that you can grab on your way out. The food is frozen, pre packaged, but the breakfast sandwiches are decent. There is an outdoor patio with a fire pit which is a nice touch. The parking is decent, however, they have so many "designated spots" out front that it is a turn-off. They have 5 spots for fuel efficient vehicles and 5 spots for car pool cars...how about spots for your paying customers or Marriott Rewards members? read more

Love this location right by Tanger outlets and office park just North. New location with the amazing Marriott service. I have stated here a number of times on business and enjoy the bar and restaurant they now have in Courtyard. read more

Hotel was clean and well kept. Our problem was the bed. We felt like we were sleeping In a hammock. We would not return to the property until beds are replaced. Asked at the front desk and they said they are aware of the problem..... Hmmm... Paid top dollar.... they took our money but haven't fixed a problem they are aware of.... read more

Equipment is old and failing, beds should have been replaced a few years ago and the hotel is showing its age. However, my biggest complaint is that the staff is clueless. If a guest tells you the air conditioning is not working properly and to please fix it, it is rude and condescending to inform the guest at the end of the day that someone (who is not the HVAC technician) checked it out and it is working fine. No technician, no temperature check and the room thermostat reading 78 degrees when the A/C has been on all day at the lowest setting. When you compound that with the fact that we have a newborn, the temperature outside is close to 100, and I informed the front desk that the baby was crying all night as a result of the heat, the staff's lack of empathy and inability to perform their job is heartless. Then, when all this is still ongoing we return after a long day to find that the room has not been cleaned! Not that the cleaning was up to any other hotel's standards, but to return to your room and then spend an hour with hotel staff trying to get at least the bathroom cleaned is sheer incompetence. Add to that that we exchanged niceties with the housekeeper who was cleaning the room across the hall when we left at about noon, and that when we returned at 10:55 pm that evening and were told that the housekeeper could not work past 11:00 pm because she would get in trouble with management, clearly shows that hotel management at this facility has its perverbial head stuck up its perverbial *ss. Reading past reviews, the negative ones all seem to complain about the staff. Often there is a response from the GM, John George, apologizing and promising to fix the problem. Clearly that has not been done, and if efforts have been made, then it is a more systemic problem. read more

There are better courtyards out there...I've stayed here multiple times every time I never get a good sleep, Rooms always feel a little dated beds are not comfortable and air conditioning unit is annoying. They need new beds and pillows No question. read more

Management was great!!! Hotel was very clean and nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you need to stay in the area.

This Courtyard is great. Friendly staff, clean room, modern and large shower, Bistro is delicious, conveniently located, free shuttle service. HOWEVER.... The beds are the WORST. I have never slept on such a cheap, uncomfortable mattress at any courtyard marriot ever. It physically hurt to lay in it. Most courtyards I've stayed at have really comfortable, sturdy, soft mattresses. They would have gotten a 5 from me had it not been for that, but the bed is 60% of the point of staying at a hotel. Get new, higher quality mattresses and you will have a 5 star rating. read more
