Was decent. Had the hash special which was good, in comparison to Maine Diner. Just wasn't much there. The potatoes were pretty bland to me, but the wife seemed to be good with them. Smaller pieces, cooked longer - crisped up would be a lot better. Just me - I'm sure plenty of others like them the way they are, so who cares. If you're in the area to check out Perkins Cove, then worth going in. Just wouldn't plan to make a trip just for the breakfast since there's no parking available and the food may not warrant the parking cost. read more

We loved this place so much that we decided to come here multiple times for out breakfasts well staying in Maine. The freshly ground coffee is delicious and a great way to start the day. On our first stop there we were lucky enough to get the outside eating area and my wife and I enjoyed the blueberry waffles and eggs and hash. We always share our dishes and loved every bite the fresh blueberries on the waffles were divine. The hash, eggs and home fries were all seasoned and cooked perfectly and soooo delicious. On our second trip there we tried the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich which was also on levels. If you're looking for a breakfast spot on Ogunquit look no further although I'm sure if you're in the area though everyone will recommend this place for breakfast. read more

My wife and I found this place one morning looking for some breakfast, and really enjoyed our meal. It has now become our go-to breakfast spot. It's a great location, and a great excuse to walk along marginal way. The staff are friendly, and have a good balance between being friendly and keeping the tables cycling through on busy days. With that being said, I don't think we have ever felt rushed! The food is delicious, omelettes are fluffy, bacon is crispy, sausages are good. For those who like a sweet treat the waffles and pancakes are also delicious. Finally, the breakfast sandwiches are pretty delicious also. My all time favorite breakfast is Eggs Benedict so when I see it on a breakfast menu, it's usually what I order. If you're going to offer eggs, Benedict then you need to know how to properly poach an egg since a runny yolk is crucial to the success of eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff of the Cove Cafe have not mastered this technique. The poached eggs were slightly overcooked, which meant half of the yolk was runny and half was cooked. This is sacrilege for this dish! If the egg is not perfectly poached, the dish is a failure. When I asked for hot sauce, I got a single take out package of it. The accompanying home fries were unexceptional but I find that to be standard at most breakfast joints. Service was prompt and professional. The place is small with a diner like feel to it. Also, keep in mind that yelp says private lot parking......but that consists of 2 parking spots so get there at opening if you want one of them! Was very impressed with the food at this small spot as you enter the Perkins cove area. The lobster omelette was packed with flavorful lobster. All other dishes ordered got rave reviews from the people I was with. A few notes: no parking and it's $15-$20 to park in a lot. No indoor dining as of late August. This place is very good, and a top-notch breakfast place. That said, I'm not sure it deserves the hype that it gets on Yelp. The food is good, the servers are nice and the place is clean. That said, there's nothing extraordinary. The menu isn't terribly expansive/diverse, and much of the food isn't special. For instance, the molasses oat bread tastes like whole wheat and the potatoes aren't great. This isn't a knock. I just don't see any reason to make it a 5 star place like many many have. Without even eating this could have been one of my breakfast experiences ever. Drove from the other part of town only to see an opening in one of the two front spots. Walked in to a cute New England costal vibe and Tennessee whiskey playing on the "radio" (engage full movie in my head experience). Went here for breakfast and I ordered a bacon egg (over medium) and cheese on a bagel. The waitress told me there's no way the cook will make my egg over medium on a breakfast sandwich. So, he made the egg and put it next to the bagel. I just can't believe scrambled was my only choice, or I had to assemble the sandwich if I wanted over medium which was what I did. My husband and I had breakfast here on our last trip to Ogunquit, and it was absolutely delicious! This is my dad's favorite place in the area to get breakfast, so I wanted to try it out. I had the crab, asparagus and cheddar omelet. I'm not a big fan of cheddar so I asked for mozzarella instead, which was happily accommodated, and very tasty! The crab meat was very fresh and the asparagus was perfectly prepared. I'm not normally a fan of hash browns, and even those were delicious. My husband devoured his eggs and bacon and said it was perfect. The service was very pleasant and prompt. The inside is absolutely adorable, and you have a beautiful view of the very beginning of Perkins Cove. I went to this restaurant with three other people. We were all very impressed. The restaurant had very fast service and everybody there was very friendly. My food was super flavorful and the French toast that I got was very fluffy and the strawberries were very fresh. The maple syrup was so good but you do have to ask for it. my fruit cup was also very fresh and everybody else seems to really enjoy their food. I had a bite of the blueberry pancake and it was very fluffy and rich. definitely recommend stopping by this place!!! read more

Cove Cafe is the type of restaurant/diner that I would love to find in my current hometown of Orlando. We would be there every weekend. My fiance and I are not morning people so getting to Cove Cafe before 11am was no easy feat. But it was well worth it! The service was super friendly and welcoming. I loved the cute, homey feel of the cafe and the adorable coffee mugs. I tried the crab cakes and the blueberry waffle and both were amazing. The waffle was perfectly made and easily in my top two best waffles ever. And the blueberry sauce would make anything a winning dish. My fiance had the blueberry French toast which he also raved about. I highly recommend a visit to Cove Cafe. read more

I had the blueberry pancakes with a side of eggs and it did not disappoint.the flavors and texture were to die for. The services was excellent. Very small restaurant - maybe six tables inside. I understand that there is seating out back but I didn't see it - maybe it's very spacious back there. There is no parking (not even on the street) so unless you get there before 8 AM and can park for free in the public lot a few blocks away, you'll have to pay $20 or $25 to park in a nearby lot. Now about the food... My wife ordered the french toast and bacon and coffee. I had the lobster omelette with home fries and toast plus a blueberry muffin. My wife said the french toast was very good but instead of bacon, she was brought sausages, which she does not like. She ate a small piece of one of them and the waitress did not ask about them when she retrieved the plates (sorry, but if I am working as a wait staff and I see that someone has barely touched an item of food, I would ask if there was a problem with it so I could at least inform the cook that customers are not eating everything on their plate). Also, my wife had one cup of coffee but no refills. Our waitress walked past our table a few times with a coffee pot refilling neighboring cups but not my wife's. My omelette was good but the "lobster" in their lobster omelette was two very small pieces of lobster meat. TWO! Yes, I counted! It cost $23.95 and I could have bought a lobster roll at any restaurant nearby for that price. The home fries were underdone and very oily. The blueberry muffin was from a mix - definitely not "homemade." The toast was good, though. So between the omelette being a huge ripoff and the bad service (adding sausage instead of bacon and no coffee refills), we were very disappointed in the Cove Cafe. This is the only place nearby that has breakfast (they are close to Marginal Way and there are a few restaurants there but none of them that I am aware of was open for breakfast). I am sure they get a nice crowd so maybe they feel they don't have to pay attention to detail as far as getting orders right or serving food that is worth returning for. We go to Ogunquit 1-3 times a year and we will not be returning to the Cove Cafe. read more

The main reason for visiting Cove Cafe was to satisfy a requirement to have coffee. This little cafe looked quaint. The hostess who greeted us was friendly and quickly brought us to a table. Almost immediately our server arrived with a beaming smile to welcome us. She was polite, friendly and efficient. She checked back with us appropriately. I thought that the coffee was great. It was served in a real coffee mug and was just the right temperature (very hot). My breakfast was a simple breakfast sandwich on English muffin. A bit odd to make a sandwich like this using scrambled eggs, but surprisingly it worked! I quite enjoyed it. My wife got a blueberry muffin, but described it a "marginal". My daughter had the fruit and yogurt parfait and seemed to like it well enough. The restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere. I noted that all of the staff seemed friendly to all of the customers. We were offered coffee refills by a server who wasn't even ours. I like that. I had a short wait to use the one small bathroom, and could see into the kitchen. I noticed a sign up for staff thanking them for their hard work this summer and inviting them to an appreciation party that evening, even include families. I like that too. If I lived nearby I could see this place being a regular for me, but alas I do not. I definitely recommend! read more
