I've visited The Covert Cafe for breakfast twice now. The first time, I had a sausage and cheese on a biscuit. The biscuit was to heavy and to doughy. A good biscuit should be light and flaky. The second time I had a Breakfast Burrito - with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese, wrapped in a wheat tortilla. I asked for some hot sauce - they provided a soufflé cup of Texas Pete hot sauce. Not a great hot sauce, but better than some. The Burrito was pretty tasty and filling. If I'd been writing this review based solely on my first visit - the review would have been two stars. But the Breakfast Burrito dragged the rating up a good bit. Service was good - both orders were cooked to order. So you end up waiting a few minutes but your food is fresh and hot.

    Sausage breakfast burrito. Yum!

Yummy place hidden in a cute little town. Google maps didn't quite know how to get us there, but it wasn't too difficult to figure it out. Craving a breakfast burrito on a Saturday morning (and not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for one at eggspectation) Yelp lead us here. $12 and change for two burritos. They were opening up upon our arrival, had just turned the open sign on. We were greeted by a friendly young man and the food was served up quickly. Very yummy. A little heavy on the potato, but that's a common problem with any breakfast burrito. Still very yummy and we are so happy to find a yummy breakfast burrito that is cheap, generous in portion and not too far from home. Can't wait to come again and try other menu items!

Turkey Avocado BLT with chipotle mayo

I came here for the first time today & grabbed some lunch. I chose the Turkey Avocado BLT with chipotle mayo on wheat with Miss Vickie's Original Recipe chips and a bottle of water. I went in around 12:15 & there were 2 other patrons inside, while I waited to order 4 more came in. I ordered mine to go & sat to wait while 3 more people came in. They seem pretty busy during the lunch hour! They had quite a few tables inside & a couple on a little patio out back. My sandwich was SO good! They don't skimp on anything - you absolutely get your money's worth of food. The flavor was on point - I can't wait to try their Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich next! They also have soups, sides (like potato salad), & drinks (including beer!). If you're in the area, you MUST stop by for breakfast or lunch! They are located next to the winery at Vint Hill.

My "go-to-place" for great sandwich's, hot and cold and I've been told their salads are very good. Always quick and courteous staff.

The price point (145/165) is not deserved for what is served. I didn't want to leave a bad review but I didn't want people that actually go to fine dining establishments to waist their money. To be a little more specific on the food, everything was either too salty, disproportioned, frozen(deserts) , stale( bruschetta and the tuna tartar cone) or just not cooked well. I wish this place well, I will not be back. And I just want the young servers to know that their customer service was great, they were very polite and friendly.

The minute we walked in we were seated early and the staff was so friendly and welcoming immediately and the ambiance is very warm and chic. Multiple employees gave us friendly greetings. The Chef's tasting was tastefully prepared and there were some additional items not on the menu. The Japanese milk bread was delicious too! I really loved the rockfish and the Braised short rib. Each course was beautifully presented and the seasoning and flavors were perfectly balanced. We were really impressed. The chef came out to introduce himself and it was nice to be able to compliment him in person. He's been there just over a month, I think, and he is doing a phenomenal job! This is such a welcome experience out west in the south. I highly recommend checking it out. It was about as good as Clarity in Vienna or 2941 in Falls Church. Dress was business casual and definitely a nicer place for more of a date night or special occasion. We wouldn't bring our children here. We were full at the end but not stuffed. Comfortably satisfied in our bellies for sure!

I usually go for Philly Cheesesteak, Fajita, or Western which is around $16. Expect to spend around $12 to $18 on average for an entree. * Food: My go to is an omelet and they also have good burgers and crepes. Portions are HUGE. My omelet was thick and covered half the plate and it was not just egg. They do amazing on the protein. You also get potatoes or other side options and toast of your choice. Be ready to grab a to go box unless you are big back like me. * Cleanliness and Setting: Many booth tables on the side that can fit around 4 to 6 and several tables in the middle. There are TVs everywhere if you are looking to catch a game. Moderately lively energy and a homey feel. * Service: It is nice seeing the same faces at the front every time I go. I get sat down relatively quickly even when it is busy and they have been on point with the food every time. They have also won multiple awards.

On arrival at the restaurant at 11,30, we were informed that the garden did not open until 1200 noon but, if we wished, we could sit at the bar and have a drink until the garden tables were open. This sounded reasonable as we could choose our meals from the menu whilst having a drink, so we opted for this and moved to the bar. We waited for someone to serve us - and waited! After 20 minutes -and being vert obviously ignored by the waitstaff who were interacting with a couple who had dined at the bar and were leaving - so we left for another venue with the clear impression that our custom was not werlcome. Having been in the hospitality business locally. I find this behavior inexcusable and I hope that this family business will take steps to correct and avoid what has left an impression of deliberate rudeness to their customers.

Drink was always replaced almost immediately, and I had frequent check-ins to make sure everything was good. The food was wonderful. I ordered the Sirloin Steak Tips & Crispy Shrimp. The sirloin tips come with mushrooms and onions. There was a great balance between the mushrooms and the onions - no more of one than the other. The steak was seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly. The fries were nice and hot, and salted well. I did say to cook the steak rare, twice, but the request was not heard, clearly, from the ticket. Oh well! No big deal. It was still flavorful and tender anyways! The shrimp is where things go downhill just slightly. I feel like the shrimp could have been so much better, and more plentiful. 5 shrimp compared to the full serving of steak, when you're paying for them both as a pair, seems a bit off-balance. The crispy mouth-scratching bread crumbing would be better off switched to a smooth tempura batter. Most of my complaints are within the purview of the corporation's portioning and quality control area. The inidividual IHOP staff at this location did everything right. Table was clean. Silverware was clean (Trust me! I used to be a dishwasher for the company!) Floors were clean. Staff were respectable and in good appearance (uniform-wise). When we sat down, a nearby table was piled with dirty dishes that stayed there for a long time without anyone cleaning it. The staff was disorganized and careless. My kids' order couldn't be made because they "didn't have waffles," and the server added unnecessary rules about milkshakes and the Kids Free offer. Everything felt complicated for no reason. At checkout, the manager, Olga, argued that my IHOP reward couldn't be used, claiming she had "20 years working there" and had never seen it. After checking with the owner, she returned saying it could be applied. Very unprofessional overall. Experiences like this are exactly why self-service and AI systems will eventually replace waiters in places like this. Many customers simply want to order, eat, and leave -- without dealing with bad attitudes or confusion. That day will come. I will not be returning to this IHOP, and I do not recommend it.
