My wife and I dropped off our car at the Subaru dealership 1 1/2 miles away and walked over to the old Steak and Ale housing. It is a HUGE operation. We sat at a high top near the bar and they had a couple of huge screens with the PGA Championship on the screens. I ordered the Blue Cheese Bison Burger. SOOOOOO good! A lot less fat than a cow burger, but it was quality meat. My wife even tried a bite and loved it. Just pure protein! They also have a $10 bottomless bloody mary bar from 10-12 on Saturday, lots of great toppings and pickles, stuffed olives, cheeses, beef sticks! Really good. Epic Happy Hour! Booked a private area for a group of 15 and was blow away by their happy hour. Food: From wings to curds everything was better then your typical bar food. Walleye fingers were different not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Service was extremely prompt and attentive while taking care of our party and another area of the bar. I didn't know about this place for a while until some (younger than me) co-workers said "Hey...let's go to Cowboy Jacks because they have strong drinks" and we were having a Going-away party. Strong drinks sounds like a solid reason. But I can happily say that once I was there I found other reasons to go back again and again. First of all, it's busy! Like busy-busy. Parking can be a challenge but I've totally lucked out the last few times in getting a spot as someone pulled out of the lot. Sweet! Just plan for that with your timing especially during Happy Hour or on weekend nights. The service is fantastic! If I had to walk through a bunch of loud people having fun all night with trays of food and beverages I would NOT be in a good mood. These people have to be some of the most patient people I've ever met. They still, somehow, manage to stay on top of getting you refills too which is amazing! The food...I love it! I have been very happy with everything I've tried so far. The Sloppy Joe sliders are terrific! They even have Tater tot Hot dish and that's always a Minnesota treat! They have a big menu and plenty of choices for everyone. It's loud. Tough to hear each other sometimes which is difficult if anyone in your group has hearing issues, but the good news is that because it's loud it's OK to yell at each other ;). If you have a bigger group they do have a cool room that is separated and has lots of windows and a huge round table with a wagon wheel chandelier. That was unexpected. People...the people are happy....loud....I've met some very interesting and wonderful characters there. Go....have a good time....get a cab or have a Designated driver if you are drinking. Food is low chain restaurant quality. But it is the poor atmosphere and attitude of all employees, that makes me want to leave. They run around like your not there. We all have bad days and sometimes don't like our job but if you depend on tips, how about one person pretends like they chose to be here. I took it back to the bar and talked to the bar maiden about it being the most God- awful thing in a glass. She said, "That's a margarita? Yeah, the mix is awful isn't it?" I was like, if you know how terrible it is, do something about it! To which she retorted, " We have to use that mix. It's all corporate will allow us to use." That's scary. Jack's is not for everybody. That said, there's a reason you can't find a parking spot at 5pm on weekdays. Their happy hour is awesome. $2 cocktails and $2 pints (not all the taps are $2, but Summit EPA is, and most beer snobs will at least drink that). Most of the appetizers are 1/2 off, and they have other food specials too, like the oh-so-popular burger night on Wednesday - $2 gets you a burger and a bun - .50 cents per each additional topping. If that's too rich for your blood, they have free popcorn and peanuts. Oh and, just so you are aware, the staff is young and pretty. If your gal is having a bad self-esteem day (or month, or life), this might not be the best venue for a romantic dinner. read more

While I appreciate the effort and it was not my intent to receive a free meal, I was more concerned that it took two weeks to contact me to apologize for poor customer service. In today's world, if you're in business, you stay on top of social media. You, or someone on your staff, read all the big sites (Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Foursquare, etc.), and you set up Google Alerts every time you're business is mentioned online. That way, if you receive feedback about poor service, you can immediately try to remedy the situation. This is a situation where their brand image is ruined in my eyes, and with all the other places to eat in the area that provide good customer service and welcome my consumer dollars, I will gladly spend it elsewhere. I went here with my coworkers to do an white elephant gift exchange. We had a blast. The cheap happy hour drinks are definitely making me come back again. We ordered some half off appetizers. I had the queso deepdish things with tortilla chips. It was pretty good! The cheese had a bit of a spice to it and it was perfect for a cheese dip. I also tried some of the cornbread skillet appetizer! That was great, because I never felt like cornbread could taste like a dessert with honey butter sauce. Yummm!!! I attended a retirement party and gave my credit card to the bartender for my drink when I left I just signed off on a bill and bad my fault did not look at it they asked for a card to pay it and not thinking they already had it gave them another one. The next day I realized I paid the wrong bill because I had to go back and get my card and they go this is the bill attached to the card. I said what bill did I pay last night, the manager would not work with me in correcting the situation and I ended up paying 2 bills. The only thing I can say is watch the bartenders the bill that was attached to my card also had drinks I didn't order. I came here with my mom and grandma. I know, the perfect place to come with family, LOL. But my mom loves their happy hour, so she took me here when I was home for Thanksgiving. I love the live band!!!! They played most of my favorite music. They have games like shuffle board and whatnot, which kind of reminded me of one of my favorite bars in Atlanta. This is our second experience at Cowboy Jack's. Both visits were good. First was a Sunday afternoon gathering of 10 people. We were seated in the large room off to the side, Castle Room, I believe. It was perfect for our group. We had appetizers and drinks which were very reasonably priced and tasty. It was private so we were able to talk amongst ourselves without shouting. We also went on a Saturday early evening before going to the Artistry for a play. There were six of us and we were seated at a large booth - plenty of room for six adults! Among the group, we had the walleye, beef brisket, pulled pork sandwich, and ribs. I heard no complaints. Mine was one of the smoked brisket sandwiches which was very tasty. I was disappointed to have to pay extra for some extra sauce (which was not generous on the sandwich) but it was good nonetheless. Happy hour prices are great. The place was packed and very noisy. We found ourselves shouting to be heard during our conversations. This is definitely not the place for those with hearing issues (two among us do have hearing aids) due to the noise volume. Our server was pleasant although not overly so...the place WAS packed so I give a pass on that one. Overall, this is a good neighborhood bar and 'watering hole'. This is probably my favorite cowboy jacks location. Good for happy hour, patio chilling and conveniently located right off the interstate. It's also one of the busier locations so the parking lot can get overcrowded during lunch and dinner. The inside is huge and the patio spans across the whole back side of the restaurant. You can usually find a spot pretty easily and if not you can belly up to the bar until a table is cleared. They have a wide variety of bar food and drink options. I really like the wings and the tots. I'm a sucker for both of these on menus and always have to order them to see how they compare to other places. Both passed the test of being perfectly crispy and flavorful. Great appetizer options! You can't order bar food without an ice cold beer. The draft beer here always seems exceptionally cold and goes down easy.... just the way I like it! read more

We ordered the nachos and sloppy joe sliders. We assumed those are hard food items to mess up...we were wrong. The sliders had zero sauce/sloppiness and was just a pile of dry ground beef on an equally dry bun. The nachos looked as if they had been under the heat lamp for 3 days, and then microwaved and forgotten about for another day and then served to us. Had my review only been for Friday it would be 1 star! Friday went for bday party, it was packed, could barley move around, came on a party bus and would've rather been on that, not my scene. Saturday however, went for my bachelorette party, we had the party room! So worth it!! This place had the worst service ever! Avoid it like the plague!! My partner and I went with a group of about 20 people for a meeting. It took the waitress 20 minutes just to get us menus. My partner ordered soup and I ordered soup and a salad. After an hour and ten minutes, an hour and a half after we first arrived, our food still hadn't been served. When we asked when our food would be served, she said "In a few minutes". We told her if our food was not there in 15 minutes we were leaving. At the last instant, they rushed our food out, but half the food was cold.THIS WAS AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES AFTER WE ARRIVED! If we had not been with our group, we would have left a long time before that. It was about the worst service I have received in 20 years. Cowboy jacks should be famous for their tater tot hot dish. It is seriously divine and my mouth is watering thinking about it. I like cowboy jacks but they're your typical biker bar. They have a bull, pool, corn hole (bags), and some other games. Tons of indoor seating and nice outdoor patio. They've added some really nice flatbreads to their menu and their staff is pretty friendly. The jalepeno cheese curds are SO good! Fun place to go with a group, for sure. read more

Was there tonight w a buddy, sat out on the patio.....we had Ashley E serving us. Ashley E was good and took care of us. The 3 stars wasn't because of Ashley E but her co-worker that was closing her section outside. My buddy forgot to add something onto his burger so WE both thought that the server that we grabbed was our ASHLEY E but it wasn't. Well to make this short my buddy started asking the server what he forgot to add onto his burger but the server stopped him and said "I'm sorry I'm not your server".......we both apologized and both said that it was hard to recognize her w a mask on. Ok, I am a manager of a retail store and I really think that she could of been nicer and helpful by saying, "I'm not your server but I would gladly let your server know what you need...." but instead said "I'm not your server" and walked away.... most ppl exaggerate when things happen to get free food or something but this is hat happened tonight. Perfect.. ordered two more at the bar, $10 again.. then we head outside and the waitress comes and asks if we'd like more, I say yes. Based on my experience at the bar, paying five dollars per beer, I figured I would leave her with $28 for having to bring them outside. I leave the cash on the table and shortly after I am hounded by the same wiatress accusing me of not paying my full tab. When I explain to her I left $28 for four beers, I think she realized I was not inebriated at all and gave up. We went inside to get a few more at the bar and I noticed her hassling some other customers in there, accusing them of not paying their tab. Three old buddies in our mid 50's decided to watch the Gopher game at CJ's. Saturday Nov 16th late afternoon. I've never been there. No room to stand, loud, and the crowd at a fevered pitch. This is an updated review. After having a not-so-good experience a few weeks ago due to an incorrectly recorded reservation by staff, we decided to give this place a 2nd chance. My wife and I arrived around 7 pm on a Tuesday, a night when both the Wild and Timberwolves were playing. The restaurant, although huge, was packed. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait so we grabbed a beer and waited in a comfortable lounging area. 10 minutes later our table was ready. We ordered an appetizer (spicy cauliflower) which came out quickly and hot, and was very tasty. For entrees, I had the Reuben and my wife had the patty melt. Both were served hot with sweet potato fries and were excellent. Our server was very nice and very attentive. Glad we gave them a 2nd chance and we will return! read more
