My wife called and spoke with Jeanette at CPI on Monday and they showed up on Tuesday, on time, early even. The technician called to make certain that it was ok first. Jeanette was very understanding and so helpful said my wife. I have called business's that treat you like you're sub par because they know more than you. It's not that way with CPI. She along with everyone that we've interacted with are very professional and speak to you in layman's terms that you can understand. This was Jeanette and this is CPI. CPI will also send you a text before the techs arrival with a name and picture so that you know whom you will be interacting with, which in my opinion is extremely helpful. Our tech was Brannigan for this call. Our inlet water line cracked so we needed the help and expertise that Brannigan conveyed very professionally. He first patiently listened to my problem, keeping that in mind. He inspected all of the structural plumbing which turned out being in very good condition. After all was said and done the costs were in. $1200 to repair the line. $1000 more to have a shut off valve put in the garage. And $1200 more to have the line from the meter to the house completely replaced. For a grand total of just under $4200 I can sleep at night knowing everything is new and done right. I will again be updating this review when the work is completed. Update: Cost $3400. Brannigan showed up on time. He was very thorough in explaining what he was going to do. We chose a line pull. CPI is one of a few companies that do this type of line replacement. The new line gets pulled through the old line. I chose to have a shut off valve placed for convenience. He actually found a valve already in place. He could have easily charged us for work that was already done and we wouldn't have known any different but that's not how this company operates honesty is policy and it shows. After completion you wouldn't even know that he was here. CPI is on the high side in cost but for that cost you get timely, professional, uniformed, polite and clean vehicle representation. This company don't mess around when it comes to this required representation either. With text, e-mail, and phone call communication they keep you in the know of what's taking place, who's doing the work and what they enjoy doing in spare time. Brannigan brought along an apprentice, Jose. Represented the company well quietly listening to instruction from the experienced professional. I will not use any other than CPI. They also presented full box replacement ($2000) and wanted me to sign up for a membership which added an additional $100. Obviously I said no. Accessed a free full-house plumbing inspection offer. Really good customer service on part of the plumbers and the staff. So A+ on all that. But ... expensive. Clearing a sluggish (not fully clogged) kitchen sink drain cost over $500. Could another plumber have done it cheaper? Probably. But CPI was there, had the equipment, and that saved me having to shop around and hassle with scheduling. Could I have bought the powered snake at Home Depot and done it myself? Sure, for $200 or more, but there's no Home Depot (or Lowe's) nearby and I would have used the powered snake probably once every 10 years and had the hassle of learning how to use it and then finding space to store it. Could I just have used the manual snake I already had? Yes, but not as effective and could have damaged some of the piping. So ... cost over $500 but they were right there with good equipment and saved me hassle. Importantly, the plumber was fantastic. Invited me to shadow him. Answered lots of questions -- I learned a lot. He also tweaked a few things that didn't end up on the bill. Showed me some tips and tricks for the future. Again, A+ on quality and customer service. Pricing was the only concern, and that's set by the company, not the workers. Also, they found one major problem that had caused water damage. But after stopping that leak, they referred us to a company that gave a high bid to dry the damage -- a bid that was around $2K more than a competitor company. So I'd give 5 stars / A+ for communication, customer service, professionalism, quality of work, great staff and plumbing technicians, helpfulness, etc. But 2 or 3 stars for price competitiveness. So 4 stars overall. They do offer membership discounts and other things -- but a discount on a high priced service can still be high. Nevertheless, their work was top quality and the customer service was great. Sometimes it's worth it to pay premium prices for that peace of mind. My general advice: If it's not an emergency, get at least two quotes. And before any plumbers arrive, research reasonable charges for things like snaking a drain, replacing appliances, etc. Then be clear in your own mind on how you want to balance cost, company reputation, quality of work, Yelp reviews, you name it. Found tech had not turned hot water part back on. Everything was fixed at no charge. He answered every question that I had with, I don't know. He didn't have the proper size filter. I was told one would be sent to me.. They sent one much too small and two months later, still no filter. I had to go purchase one from another company. I filed a claim against them with my credit card company. "Mike" came out and spent 15 minutes looking at the pipes and told me "They're standard PCV, so yes, I can snake them to fix the clog". I asked how much that would cost and, believe it or not, he said $795.00!! Yes, $79500 to snake a kitchen sink drain, using a device you can rent from Home Depot for $50! (which I have since done). When I balked Mike said "Well, let me see", then pretended to punch buttons on his iPad and announced "I'm not supposed to do this, but I can discount it to $550.00"! When I declined he charged me $162.00 for the "service call". CPI tries to take advantage of apparently vulnerable or desperate people (I'm 77) and should be stopped. I'm not sure why the Yelp rating for CPU is so bad when the Google rating is so high. We had nothing but excellent service from start to finish. Our electrician Nick arrived within the scheduled window and worked diligently the entire time. He was very friendly and did an excellent job. We were charged exactly what was estimated, so no ugly surprises there. We would definitely trust CPI for future electrical work (and already have them booked for a plumbing job, and will likely also be booking them for HVAC). UPDATE: We've now also used CPI for a plumbing job. Just as before, both techs were fast, friendly, and professional. One of the techs called in advance to confirm the address and arrival time, after which I received a text from the company with a pic of one of the new techs so I knew who to expect (as opposed to opening the door to stranger danger dressed as a plumber). I called for a clogged kitchen sink. CPI would only quote $70 to come out and diagnose. Once in my kitchen they quoted $725 to snake my drain. I thought he was literally joking. Do I pay him $70 to leave and do nothing? A different plumber had already canceled on me, and I had holiday guests arriving the next day. I felt I had no other option but to use them. It took less than 30 minutes to snake my drain. No parts or repairs were needed. My divorce lawyer charged $300 an hour, so I just cannot fathom a world in which overhead plumbing costs are so high?! I still don't understand why they couldn't have told me over the phone how much a minimum snake drain would be?! The BBB says you can't file a complaint over price I'm guessing because I could've told them "no" to the repair and try to do it myself. Also, apparently price-gouging is not illegal in Washington State. So they can charge whatever they want. This was a very costly lesson for me. NOT A SERVICE COMPANY! Prior experience with CPI context: we hired CPI to repair a shower in a rental and they provided this service well and for a good price. CPI contacted us for a service program and we accepted it for a rental house in Clear Lake. The first tech showed up for a plumbing inspection and provided a cursory inspection. His report did not include a leaking hose bib. His estimates had excessive pricing for simple repairs. The second tech arrived to review the split system. He indicated they don't work on cheap split systems (ours was a Boreal, very popular in the homeowners area). When talking to his dispatcher he said the owner "me" said the plumber estimated the work. I did not say this. He told me, plumbers don't know what they are talking about when it comes to split systems. I was offended as I worked in this industry for over 35 years and respect all the trades! When I told him I was not happy with how he was handling the service communication, he turned on heals and said "have a nice day sarcastically", and left. Horrible experience. DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS! A CPI plumber came out to address a leaking toilet. He replaced the wax seal and charged me $650 for 30 minutes of work!! After a period of time, it was obvious the toilet was still leaking. The scheduler wasn't able to guarantee there wouldn't be any additional charge for them to come out again to address the ongoing leak. She assured me someone in charge would contact me within one to two days. Well, three weeks later, no contact was made. I have since called Silvana Plumbing to come out. A plumber and an apprentice came out and identified the problem as an improperly installed wax seal. They were both knowledgeable and good to work with. Thanks Mike and Austin! I'm a supporter of local businesses and I hate leaving bad reviews, but after some time to stew on my experience with CPI,I'm compelled to spend the time. Their next victim could be an elderly parent or someone without the ability to deflect their BS. So,it's with a heavier heart (and a lighter wallet) that I write this. Our debacle started Nov 2023, during a cold spell. In the middle of the night I woke up to our 15-year-old Trane furnace blowing cold air. The forecast called for low 20s all week, so timing was not ideal. I'm not a furnace expert, but I know how to do research, so I set about doing that. We rounded up some space heaters to keep the cold at bay. In the morning we called around and asked for recommendations for a local HVAC service/repair company. A friend had a local company troubleshoot their furnace issue with success, so we contacted them. That business was several days out,but accommodating. Everyone else had about the same lead time. A short time later we got a call back that this particular company could not service our area, but they had a sister firm that was closer-this was CPI. We contacted CPI and made an appointment for later in the week (about three days out as I recall), which was their first availability. While this was going on and with temporary heat in place, I focused on my research. Initial indication was that we had a faulty circuit board based on the cryptic code that the furnace was flashing. I located a replacement board at Grainger, but would be a couple days before I could get it. Later that day, CPI called and they had an immediate opening - the guy could come out right away. We jumped at the chance. Their dispatch was great, so can't fault them there. The tech showed up on time (early, actually), so no fault there either. He was friendly enough and went to troubleshooting the furnace. All is well to this point, then he discovers what he calls a faulty pressure switch - it is reading as an open circuit (in retrospect, I'm pretty confident he tested it without the furnace commanding heat, which means the switch would be open by default, but I wasn't smart/fast enough to catch it at the time). He claims he cannot bypass this switch and must stop the troubleshooting process now until he replaces the switch. He goes out to the truck and gets on the phone with his parts guy for a quote. Bottom line is $578 for new switch and his time. The part should be here in a day or so. Fine. Later I found that MSRP for the OEM Trane replacement part was $103, but I appreciate the fast response and respect the man's time. We sign the repair order, pay in full, and send him off. Two days go by and they have the part. In the meantime, I've stopped by Grainger and picked up the replacement circuit board ($186 with tax) because I still feel confident that this is the actual issue, but I'm not a trained HVAC pro, so I let him continue. Day 3 and he's back with the new pressure switch. There is no change; burners are still not igniting and LED on the circuit board still flashing the same error code. This time, curiously, he is able to continue the troubleshooting process (same tech, by the way). We move on to the induction motor, which he claims is also bad; it's drawing 1.7A, which is above the rated 1.45A. That will need to be replaced as well (but seems to be working fine - rotating smoothly, no bearing noise, etc). Then we're onto the circuit board, which is very expensive, he says. He doesn't realize that I have the Grainger-sourced part sitting in a box right at the foot of the furnace, of course. He pulls up the circuit board and backside shows obvious burn marks. At this point, standing in my garage and knowing that we have no heat in the house on a week of 20-degree days, he looks straight in my eyes and says, "you really just need a new furnace". I ask him for quotes on a new induction motor and circuit board and also furnace replacement with a Trane unit comparable to what we have. He goes back out, sits in the truck for a bit, and then provides the two estimates later. It'll be $3400 for the new induction motor and circuit board and $6700 for a new furnace. We tell him we'll think about it. Next day I spent a few minutes carefully installing the new circuit board. Lo and behold that corrected the problem. I also spent the money to purchase a Fluke clamp meter to test the induction motor as he had done - nothing higher than 1.2A. He was a fast talker and never actually showed me the reading on his meter. Clamping the wire near the motor itself with some meters can skew the reading due to the electromagnetic field that is created, so maybe that's what happened in his case. I'm typing this now, with the temp at 16F in another cold spell. Furnace is working like a champ. That's really why I wanted to write this. He wanted to sell me a $6700 furnace due to a $186 circuit board and I can't get over him standing in my home lying to me. My advice is to be wary. read more

Called about a leaky bathroom faucet. The next day two guys came out with their big truck. I figured they could fix this for max a couple of hundred bucks. All they did was take a lot of pictures and tell me they needed to change out all the sink valves. Are you kidding! I don't have a plumbing 101 degree, but I know it just takes a change out of the valve cartridge. They probably have one in their big truck. So they left and told me they would get back to me. Well, nothing happened the next day and the sink was still leaking. So I went on Amazon, found the cartridge for $18.00. When it arrived it took me 10 minutes to instal and all fixed. These guys are looking for the big check. I think they need to worry about customers rather than the big buck. I would not recommend this company - and will tell my whole neighborhood about my experience. read more

If they look at anything you're looking at another $360 more, that doesn't even cover the repairs if needed. First used them to do a water heater and fix a broken recirculator on our place and it went great. When we needed a new toilet we called them. The quote for one toilet being removed and new one installed was over $1,000 and that included the "membership" discount. There's nothing wrong where the floor or piping needs reworked. The toilet itself just needs replaced. Right now Home Depot and Lowe's have a wide selection of toilets for under $300 but CPI said just the cheapest toilet alone was $500 plus tax. This is not a five hour job. It's a 45 minute job. Henry from CPI has done great work every time he has answered our call. Today he worked on a leaky faucet, installing a wall based outlet for refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser, and redoing the seals on a shower. The faucet no longer leaks, the new wall outlet looks super slick, and the shower seal is the best one we've had. The work was not cheap, it was exceptional. Do it yourselfers, do it yourself. For the rest of us, CPI is a good call. Bonus, just by working with Henry I learned how to repair a leaky faucet. I say working with him because he showed me the part I could purchase myself and bring in while he was working on other aspects of the job to evade an extra trip charge and huge delay. So if you watch a skilled plumber closely it adds value to the service charge. Be aware: they are trained to offer more then is necessary for what you need. So make sure you are clear in what you really want or need and take the other offers or leave them. I found Henry to be honest in saying he could do more but based on my situation of selling my house soon probably not necessary (The wall based refrigerator dispenser water outlet was one offer which I accepted and think is really nice, while improvements to the bath tub and exterior hose outlet I chose to pass on). Previous jobs he has done for us was install a new toilet, fix a dishwasher drain pipe, and clear blockages in the drain to the septic. I left a prior 5-star review for work they performed by installing a post filter for my old water softener and re-routing the flush line. I was planning on deferring the purchase and installation of a new water softener due to the total cost, but my old water softener started to leak - just a drip but still an indication that it was time to replace the old Culligan unit. I stopped by CPI and was told they'd have to validate the prior quote since prices change, which is not unreasonable although it had only been a couple months. Several days went by but no response. I then called back earlier this week and they said I should hear back no later than Friday (that's today). No e-mail, text or call. I'm starting to question paying the "silver club membership" that cost $282 to give me priority response. They still have a chance to redeem themselves but I consider this a cautionary sign. I own a house that is over 100 years old with plumbing and sewer pipes that were a hodge podge of cast iron, galvanized and copper. I got a few estimates for a complete plumbing and sewer replacement and CPI Plumbing was the most expensive choice (by far) but they seemed to be the biggest company out there so I equated size of company to quality work. In hindsight, I should have probably gone with one of the smaller licensed and bonded companies because I'm sure the work would have been the same if not better. The job they did was good but it didn't come without problems. The total job lasted three days and here are things I noticed after they were done. They left the crawl space cover off when they were done which was no biggie other than I didn't notice it until three days later so hopefully no critters got under there. Also, they left a 20+ foot section of flexible piping in my yard. I stored it for a few weeks and then seen one of their trucks working down the street so I took the big coil of piping and threw it in the back of that truck. About a week later I was doing dishes and noticed my kitchen was flooded with water. A quick check and I found the drain pipe to the sink was detached so all the dish water drained under the sink and onto the floor. I cleaned up the mess, called CPI and they actually dispatched someone the next day. The technician found the new piping they had installed under the house wasn't properly secured so the weight of the water in the pipe pulled the drain pipe apart under the sink. The technician properly secured the new piping under the house and I haven't had a problem since. Also, make sure you read the estimate for the work being done instead of relying on what you and the technician giving you the estimate states. As previously stated my house is over 100 years old so I wanted a "COMPLETE" replacement of all piping. However, when the job was done I learned a "COMPLETE" re-piping meant only pipes they could access as the bathroom sink and toilet still has galvanized pipes running to them. Initially I thought it was an oversight and was something that still needed to be replaced, but apparently "COMPLETE" re-piping to me and "COMPLETE" re-piping to a plumber is a completely different thing (even though we literally stood in the bathrooms and pointed at the piping coming out of the wall while putting together the estimate)? In the end I decided to go with 3 stars because they did an "OK" job even though they were a bit sloppy by leaving the crawl space access cover off, leaving the 20+ foot of pipping and not properly securing the new piping under the house which required an emergency work order for them to come out and fix. Plumbing is plumbing, it's not rocket science so get a few bids and go with a licensed and bonded company that can do it the cheapest. My guess is the quality (3 stars) in the end will be the same or better. read more

The literal worst. Outrageous pricing. I had a flooded crawl space, had CPI come out to check sump pump. $500 to look at sump pump for 5 min and that I need to hire an electrician. No break down of pricing. Plumber didn't offer to pump the water out with another pump -- when I asked he said it'll be another $500. Insane. A local electrician did so much more at half the price. Brought a pump over and pumped the water out for me, like CPI should have done at the very least. I know plumbing is expensive -- but this is a shocking way to run a business. Don't use CPI just because they can come out same day. Learned my lesson. read more

We needed to have a second drain and hot/cold water pipes added to a bathroom so we could install a double sink vanity. The original quote was for $1,401.99 just to add these additional lines, not including any installation of the vanity or repair of dry wall that had to be cut. I initially gave the go ahead, and shortly after changed my mind due to the high price. The only work done was to cut a large piece of drywall out of the wall before I told them to stop. After that the crew packed up their tools and sat in the truck outside for a while. I finally went out to the truck for the final invoice of work done and got an invoice for $282.43!!!!! It is truly unethical to charge this sum just to cut a piece of drywall and do nothing else. All done in less than one hour. I would not recommend and definitely would not use them again. read more

First off if I could put zero star I would. My wife and I live in a house that was built 3.5 yrs ago. Out of no where my wife Heard a gargling sound coming from kitchen sink. So I called CPI plumbing and heating. They were able to come out that day. I was at work and my wife had to talk to the plumber. He mentioned using his camera to check the pipe (which cost around $800) thats all he could think of doing. So we said do it. It only took 30-40 mins at $800. The next day we still heard the noise so I called back and they wouldn't even come out for free to check the work. After talked to 2 receptionist and one manager and all 3 of them saying they would get back to and never did enough was enough. I'm spreading the word that these guys like to guess what could work at your expense. The communication is absolutely piss pore. Out of the 2 receptionist and 1 manager I spoke to the manager was a little better. I will be spreading the word though out my friends in construction trades and other friends and family to not use this outfit. Don't let them con you into work they are most likely guessing on By the way I just seen BRAD with CPI just sent a message to not just me but everyone that has shitty review of them. Our shower tub faucet was leaking. I knew it probably just needed a new cartridge. My husband called CPI because he'd used them in the past. The dumb technician who came over didn't know how to shut off our water main, and he couldn't identify the make of the faucet, and said it "wasn't made anymore," and so he wanted to replace the faucet with a "Moen" because that's the type he knew how to replace a cartridge for. Seriously? And to do this, (without turning off the water main?) he was going to charge $1300, and it would have to be done tomorrow because he had to go buy the parts. I said, what if we bought the part ourselves. Oh, then it was ONLY going to be $800. We called The Plumbing Guys instead. They had the part (cartridge) on their truck, and replaced it in less than 30 minutes. And CPI charged me $75.62 for coming out to give me that $1300 estimate. Lovely. Never calling CPI again.
