It's been a sad 6 months. So I've managed to deal with these guys twice recently.
The property is lovely and their facility for receptions worked out great both times. The reception area we used easily fit the 40-60 people we had and they had a sound system that our family could use to play music we'd selected. That made an otherwise solemn, silent event a bit more relaxed and comfortable.
The gentleman the runs the services was very professional and respectful but each time I was part of an interaction that was irritating. Late last year when we picked up cremated remains they explained that by law we were to dispose of them within a year. Now maybe I misunderstood or maybe I was a little hyper sensitive but if a family wants to keep an urn with the remains of their loved one in it, in any place they choose, a law saying that it has to have a final disposition seems unenforceable, mean spirited and just plain stupid. Just rubbed me wrong.
And then earlier this year we were trying to drive from the parking lot to the reception hall to drop off all the drinks and snacks and flowers ....and they refused to open the gate! We've got a car full of supplies for a funeral reception in an hour and they don't understand why we'd like to drive the last hundred yards rather than walk them. We explained who we were, why we were there, that the service was scheduled in an hour or so but because the scheduled time had not yet begun, she refused to open the gate.
So a dozen guys in suits made several trips schlepping food and drinks that should have been driven to the door.
It added an element of anger and frustration to a day should have been spend remembering a dearly missed relative. read more
