We had a Tuesday morning breakfast during the off season. Very busy place, but we were seated within 5 mins. My wife loved her meal of eggs over easy with English muffin and sausage. Was prepared perfectly, eggs and sausage were moist and delicious. I had an omelette with sausage and onions. Again, this was very good, served hot and very fast. The restaurant itself has a large dining room with vaulted ceilings, but was not very noisy. Many locals appear to frequent this restaurant as several arrived while we were there and stopped by tables with people they knew. A good sign in my book! read more

I almost didn't eat here, and now I wish I hadn't. I dined by myself. All the bar stools were occupied so I waited for a table. After seeing three sets of diners with only two in their party being sat before me, I was getting up to leave. That's when they came to seat me. The waitress took my order and my food came relatively quickly. That was the end of my interaction with her until she dropped off my check. She never asked me how my food was (it was fine). She never asked me if I needed more to drink, which I would have liked. She never asked me if I needed jelly, which I would have liked. I really felt invisible and that my business was unappreciated. I just moved to the Boston area and plan to visit this area fairly often. However, you can bet this is my last visit to this restaurant! read more

Stopped for early dinner with toddler and mother. Toddler food ordered off kids menu was a grilled cheese--cheese was a single charred slice in between two limp pieces of bread. Toddler preferred the roll brought to the table and wouldn't touch the cheese after opening the sandwich. It took two tries to get my order right (a wrap) and about twenty minutes to even get a waitress to come over (there were 3 parties in the restaurant including us and 2 waitresses on staff). Once there waitress was kind but food was barely mediocre. Wouldn't recommend stopping here--felt misled by the 4 star average on here. read more

Crabapples was a godsend! We were running late to the Woods Hole Ferry so pulled up for a quick bowl of fish chowder, Caesar salad and side order of fries. The service was quick and efficient and the food was delicious. Yum! And we were back on our way in time to make the ferry. read more

Staff was friendly but pretty much non-existent after our order was taken. I had the Banana Nut Bread French Toast which came with two links of sausage, and I ordered a side of homefries. My husband had a tomato, mushroom, and onion omelet with raisin toast & homefries. The homefries were dry and a bit bland, and my husband's omelet was pretty skimpy without much tomato, mushrooms, onions, or cheese. The waitress never came back during our meal to offer a refill on coffee or soda. My French Toast was very good, but the sausage links were very salty. I would have ordered a cranberry juice if the waitress had ever come back...but she dropped the check on our table without even asking if we wanted anything else. I would have given Crabapples four stars if the waitstaff were a little more attentive. read more

I've probably driven past Crabapple's a hundred times. I thought the interior would be corny Cape Coddie, frequented only by the elderly, (no offense) and would offer a painfully boring menu. Happy to say I was wrong. I think one salad even had avocado and nuts on it, which ain't bad for Cape Cod. The interior is almost hip, with mustardy-peach colored walls and some earth toned decor. The wood stove was roaring when I went there for lunch on the second week of December. I just had a calamari salad, which was actually pretty good, with mixed greens and everything. The calamari was plain, but tasty enough, and there was a lot of it. The balsamic dressing was probably homemade, and it was excellent. I took my 84 year old mother there, and she got the fish chowder, which was terrific; old school style, not too thick and pudding like, the way chowder gets misinterpreted these days. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else. For Cape Cod, this place is very decent, and nowhere was there a door with a wooden Gull's sign swinging on a nail. read more

This is not your typical breakfast or lunch diner place... it kind of has that eclectic summer breakfast feeling when you enter the restaurant and greated by their waitstaff. Their breakfast food is wonderfully prepared and with different things that you might not typically think of putting together... and they're actually divine. For example, I love their banana pancakes... and their apple pancakes... and their blueberry pancakes... absolutely delicious. My brother-in-law has this funny craving for breakfast at Crabapples with the hope (crossing his fingers and his legs... and possible the toes too) that they're surving their banana bread french toast. If it is as good as their pancakes... I can see why he feels as he does about that for breakfast. We used to go to Betsy's Diner in the center of town for the longest time but the lines were incredible for dinner food and it is just more relaxing to enjoy your meal in peace with great conversation at Crabapple's. read more

Visited for lunch recently and the staff was quick to meet and seat us and then take our order, they were also very polite and professional. The atmosphere suited the ocean based area. The food was spectacular, and the appetizer came quickly enough so that I had time to finish it before my main meal came. The fish chowder was top notch with tender fish and generous portions in it! The broiled scallops are great; very tender and juicy! Their homemade pecan pie is also not anything to sneeze at either! We came in the other night at 8:00pm for dinner and the whole staff was fooling around out front including the cooks. We sat in the back for 15 minutes and never got a waitress to come over to us or the other tables. When we walked up to the front to ask why was there no one waitressing the back, all the help was sitting at the bar up front stuffing their faces with food!! They all stopped serving the restaurant at the same time and were eating themselves!! This is not the first time this has happened to us. The food quality also suffers greatly when the owner Scott is not there. His workers seem to completely goof off when he is not there. Parking is an issue but for a Diner atmosphere it was great. Service was prompt and not rushed. Waitress was informative and pleasant. Food was superb. I had lunch baked haddock and scallops while my wife had the baked haddock. Four of us came here for lunch recently. The service was good and the food was tasty. We had the Reuben, 1/2 chicken lunch entree, crab cake and chowder, and a veggie wrap. We also had the pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and lemon cake. All were very good. The portions were pretty large as well. read more

I came in for breakfast. Very unorganized, nobody working to understand the seating. People pushing and shoving. We finally sat down. The waitress appeared to be in distress. She came over spilling hot coffee all over us and her. We did not want regular coffee but it did not appear to matter. We hesitantly ordered given the behavior. Our order never came. Let me start off by saying the fish chowder is outstanding. Some of the best I've had. Now let me say why I only gave 2 stars: I ordered a chicken salad sandwich for lunch and received only half a sandwich (for $9) and a measly bag of CC chips. I thought that perhaps they were going to charge us for a soup and half sandwich meal at the end and that would explain the half sandwich. But no. Charged for the bowl of chowder and the full sandwich. There's not too many restaurants I leave hungry, but this was one. I won't eat there again, unless it's just for chowder. The rest of the menu is mediocre. So my rating of "meh" stands. read more

This is our favorite seafood restaurant. We drive 45 minutes each way to go, and every time the food is fabulous. My husband is a chef and he think this place cooks the best fried fish around...so moist and delicious. Last night I tried the curry squash bisque...to die for! Ate here for dinner with 4 adults and two small kids. the waitress and hosteas were vwry nice. a good selection of food and everyone found something to order. okur waitress took all of our requests even one dinner prepared in a way not on the muenu. I had the watermelon gazpacho, which was awesome. everyone raved about the food and no ones meal was prepared wrong. Unfortunately this restaurant had very few redeeming qualities. The smell when we walked in was of disinfectant, a product they spray on the tables and counters. The chemical smelling odor was not what one might call appetizing. I ordered two poached eggs with bacon and home fries. The eggs were sitting in a small cup with excess water. The bacon had a weird taste, crispy yet so full of fat. I tried patting it to absorb the grease with no success. The potatoes were crusted with something that my friend said tasted like cheese. His steak had been marinated in vinegar, or steak sauce or Worcestershire, and the texture was not what one would call tender. His eggs were also pale and watery. The coffee was weak. Both of us had wicked stomach aches a half hour later with acid indigestion. read more

Called ahead to pick up an entire pie plus two extra pieces. Waited a long time after I arrived but hey they were busy. I did not complain or sit. Just waited. I promise you I was polite. Arrived back at house with packaged goods to find one pie and somebody's fish dinner leftovers. So, I called to explain I couldn't get back before they closed and asked for them to just refund the extra pieces to my credit card. Snarky girl said, "Oh, right. It will take at least a week and call back if it doesn't happen. Oh, and Allie says thanks alot for the tip." Huh? So rude and unnecessary. Normally, I tip AT LEAST 20% but this was take out and poorly managed at that. Having said that, the pie was really good. We had eaten lunch there earlier in the week and liked the pie, much better than fish dinner or burgers or chowder (over rated) for lunch, which is why we returned for pie only. I get the feeling from other reviews that breakfast is their strong suit. Customer relations is not. The waitress we had for lunch was great, probably in her 30's or more. These much younger, rude, elites have a lot more to learn about food service. Owner should reconsider his staff. read more

Tasty fish chowder and fried clams. It's hard to find fried clams during the off-season but this place comes through. The kids liked their burger and fish-n-chips and hubby enjoyed his seafood casserole. Huge lunch portion with big chunks of fish, large shrimp, and sea scallops. They also serve breakfast. read more
