A quick stop after catching a movie around the corner. I Googled restaurants that were still open and came across Crabtree. I didn't order too much -- just the honey wings, bread pudding, and a cocktail. The wings were a little too big for my liking. I've always had issues with oversized winglets, but the flavor was still really good despite the size. The drink was very good. I had something called the "Smash Bros," which has bourbon, grapefruit, orange, lemon, and mint, garnished with mint leaves and an orange slice. Very tasty! The banana bread pudding wasn't bad at all, but I have to say I didn't really taste the bananas -- I tasted the chocolate chips more than anything. It was definitely a different take on banana pudding by adding chocolate chips. It wasn't bad, but I personally prefer the traditional version. Overall, the service was great and the ambiance was nice. There were lots of windows, and the restaurant being on the top floor gave it a really nice view. This place was SO good, everything on the menu sounded delicious, and everything that arrived was even more delicious. Portions are huge, so go hungry, or take it home for tons of leftovers. I really enjoyed the knish w/corned beef the most, everything paired so nicely down to the spicy mustard. Will definitely have to come back here to try more items off the menu, and to try the different seasonal items. Bar and restaurant is spacious and cozy, it's a great spot to come to watch sports as well. Windows surround the tables so you can also people watch down below of that's your thing. My wife and I had dinner here before a concert at The Paramount. She had the fried chicken sandwich and I had the Fish n Chips. They were both pretty good although mine was a bit greasy. This long awaited review was from my visit in January. We live in the area but almost never eat in any of the restaurants, so I was excited to eat here before my concert at the Paramount. We climbed the stairs and were greeted immediately and taken to a table. The bar was hopping, so that was a good sign. But then we waited for a while. Even put our menus down when we decided. We still waited. FINALLY, our server came over. We saw him on the side, sitting and talking with friends. Hubby LOVES bread, so we had to get the bread service, but it was just a loaf of meh bread, it was the BUTTER that made the dish! The ahi tuna tacos were on the specials menu so I'm not sure how often they're available but they were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed this place. It's on the second floor of a hair salon with a long staircase to walk up, so if you're disabled, just be aware that it's a climb. We were quoted 45 mins for a table, but it wound up being about 5 mins, glad we didn't leave. For appetizer we started off with the tuna, really good and tasted nice and fresh. We also had the wings, we got them dry, they were good but I think I prefer non breaded style. Drinks we both had the chai tea toddy- unique and was great. For my entree, I had the standard cheeseburger with bacon. I enjoyed it but it's served on an English muffin. I like English muffin burgers but I think the muffin should have been toasted or buttered for a better taste. It almost made the burger bland. For dessert we had the brownie sundae which was great. We selected Crabtree based on the Google & Yelp reviews. The atmosphere was pleasant, and wait staff were helpful. Unfortunately, the dinner was almost inedible. We ordered the following: medium-rare cheeseburger with cheddar and a side of truffle fries, AND the English meatballs with noodles and peas. The burger was served well-done (dry and grey), and the meatballs were so overcooked that a fork couldn't pierce them. We sent the meatballs back for a do-over. The second batch came back as bad as the first batch. The noodles with peas and gravy weren't bad. We ordered margaritas with no ice. They were tasty, but tasted like a mix, not fresh limes. When the bill came, we saw we were charged EXTRA FOR NO ICE! Charging more for delivering less. So all-in-all, one of the worst meals we've ever had. I was helped by a gentleman named Ant, a handsome and charming young man who was happy to make me and my wife espresso martinis SO delicious and perfect we just couldn't get enough. Ant was attentive, helpful, chatty and fun. We often go to wonderful spots like Crabtree's all across the country in our travels and always order the espresso martinis as a "gauge" of the bartenders. Ant nailed it and had funny joke after funny joke. I unfortunately spilled my drink on my pants and Ant was happy to give me his to wear to save me the embarrassment. Hauling in from Manhattan, I was looking for a quaint cocktail bar with a creamy Espresso to supplement my first Saturday of the New Year. I was more than happy at the sight and smell of my martini. I came here for a quick dinner before going to a show at the paramount and had an odd experience. The menu is quite odd, i am not a picky eater but i struggled to find something that sounded appetizing. I ended up with the turkey burger that was placed on a large english muffin. It was kind of an awkward idea for a bun and got extremely soggy. The turkey itself was good but nothing special in my opinion, it looked lovely but tasted bland. The tap list was very small but there was a lot available in cans for beer. The cocktail menu looked great, if i lived in the area i would definitely come back just for drinks! I came on a saturday night at 6:30 and there was plenty of seating. The ambiance was great, we were seated at a lovely table by a large window overlooking the town which was nice. the decor is modern but still cozy. The service was not the best, we had several extremely odd and awkward interactions with the waitress that made the whole experience kind of odd. Perfect night to sneak out to Huntington. Found parking on some strip and have been meaning to try this spot for a very long time! Tonight seems to be the right night!! Walked in and a table was there.. calling our names! We sat down, server told us to read the board for specials! Perfect ambiance. Not too bright and not too dark. perfectly lit setting! Ordered the reciprocal IPA. Thumbs up! Curious about the cauliflower vegan soup w Crispy garlic bc I'm cold as heck from walking 3 blocks up! It was a nice day but WTH happened... got cold all of a sudden! Wasn't properly dressed for the temp drop! Had to order up the Belgium pretzel sticks! That honey mustard! Yum just bc it's right with beer! I ordered the Salmon as my entree and told my other party to order the shrimp tacos on the menu bc that alfalfa topped over the 3 Large tacos you guys are dropping at every table around us looks very intriguing!!! Our other party ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich... I must mention, I stole the pickles off the dish and it was sweet & salty fresh, crisp delicious! It was my first time going and I was excited to go I had heard the food was good and the happy hour as well which you don't find many happy hours on the weekends. The bar was not crowded at all and there were 3 bartenders. I was served by a bartender named Anthony and I have to say this was the worst experience I ever had at a bar. He had to be flagged down every time as he was too busy on his phone with his back to everyone. Did not offer me a food menu and when our glasses were empty he had to be called upon. When I placed my order for food it came and honestly was absolutely delish but he wouldn't know that as he never asked how everything was. But what really got me was how rude he was to me. There was Music in the background and he changed a song and said to him that was a good song why did you change it and he rudely said to me "just eat your French fries and don't worry about it". My husband heard him and said to him what did you say to my wife. My husband also mentioned he knew Jack the Manager and that he would hear about this and he began to say "Oh yea let's call him now". I asked for our check and said to him you are the rudest bartender and should not be in this industry. Mind you Ive been a bartender of over 20 plus years and would never treat a customer this way. I will never step one foot in this place again and that's unfortunate because Jack is nice person and a great manager and the food is actually good but someone made a really bad choice in hiring this guy. read more

The smoked whitefish salad first & foremost is THE BOMB! I actually miss it when I leave to go back to the Midwest !!! But thankfully now that we have a hotel in town, I'm in Huntington quite often it's a MUST! We got out of our movie at close to 11pm and were still seated and had lots of time to order, sip drinks, and eat some great food. Lucky to grab 2 stools at the far end of the bar ( convincing a patron to find accommodations for her pocketbook so I wouldn't have to stand to eat). Noticed a small but well curated local tap menu (yes - they have at least one DIPA). However, I went with a well made High Fashion (rye, amaro and cherry preserves) - a mere $8, served in a nice cut rocks glass. The $10 standard cheeseburger would have been perfect except for the doneness. Ordered the same, but Lisa E.'s came out spot on medium rare, mine medium. Fries crisp, salty and addictive. I've been wanting to try Crabtree's for a while now. I always thought it was a great location overlooking the street with all those windows (I also like sitting in the Mezzanine sections at shows - what can I say? I like to look down on things.). It was cool watching the traffic go by on the busy Huntington downtown streets. I also really liked the decor of this place - a cool looking bar, a banquette of tables around the perimeter and cool music filling the place. The menu is fairly extensive, and we notice that happy hour is happening, but only at the bar (I always find it a bit strange that depending on WHERE you are in a place determines if you get a discount or not). I see Sand City has a beer in one of their taps so I get that, a hefeweizen - Sand City never disappoints. A peachy vodka mule type drink for my wife. We decide to do a pretty broad sampling of the menu.. here's how it goes: Stuffed Avocado - described as a Tuna Poke, but I find it a bit more salad like than a bowl. The dressing is tasty, avocado creamy, but the tuna is not the best quality with stringy tendons affecting the texture. American Made Burrata - I love when you slice open a burrata ball and it oozes cheese and liquid to mingle with the other ingredients - that did not happen here. The texture inside was more thick ricotta cheese like and I find that is a sign of inferior burrata. Figs, walnuts, lavender honey and crostini were all nice. Roasted Salmon - When you order the main you can get the protein paired with a salad instead of how it is listed on the menu (you still pay the entree price) - so the Iceberg Wedge was ordered. It was a decent wedge - really good dressing, and the marinated cherry tomatoes and onions were good, but no substitute for bacon that usually comes with a wedge. Salmon was overcooked though ordered medium. Standard Cheese Burger - is an accurate description - it's basic. A large thick burger comes more towards the rare side than the ordered medium, but it really had no flavor (no char, no flat top browning - just mushy meat). Topped with tomatoes, lettuce and mine with cheddar since you can't get American cheese - which, to me, is really the superior cheese for a burger. Not a fan of a big English muffin used as a bun either. Nice pickles with this - wish they gave more. Service was great from the single waitress since the place wasn't overly busy on this Sunday. Came here last night for dinner and drinks with the girls. It is located above the cactus salon. The stairwell is a little dark so becareful. It should be a little better lit. The inside bar vibe reminded me of a speakeasy. Bartenders have all their potion bottles to whip you up fancy cocktails. I ordered the peach mule. It was delish! On friday and Saturdays they do offer happy hour specials but only if you sit at the bar area. Limited menu. But prices bary about $5. Good thing what i choose to order wasnt apart of it id be annoyed.. Since there was a few of us my fellow yelpers helped guide me to what i ended up choosing was the tater tots and corned beef concotion. Crispy tots gooey cheese and corned beef.! One of my friends ordered the mac and cheese with cheezits with beisket i tried that. But i am not a big fan of beisket but loved the mac and cheese with cheezits. Had homemade cheese sauce and lovely shells and generous portion! Tried the pretzel beead. Soft and came with 3 dipping sides I also ordered the sucker punch. At first glance, this restaurant was warm and inviting. The decor was great, and you can't beat the location, 2nd floor overlooking the corner of Main Street and Route 110. Very nice! The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. I had the Chicken Wings, breaded and fried. They were fresh and tasty, much better than the frozen/fried version you get at some places. Our server was polite and professional, though not particularly friendly. Crabtree would have been our regular meeting place when in Huntington, and I would have given them 5 stars had it not been for the owner's attitude. We were meeting friends, but we got there before them. Since no one greeted us at the door, we grabbed a small table in the bar area. When the server came over, I mentioned that we were going to need a bigger table when the rest of our party arrived. She asked how many were going to be, and I said anywhere from 5-8 altogether. She said rather bluntly, "I'll speak with the owner." He came over and told us it's "first come, first serve" and told us we couldn't move. We hadn't even ordered our food yet. A few minutes later our friends arrived and were seated at a table for 4. Since there were only 3 of them, I asked if we could join them. There was plenty of room at their table and we didn't mind squeezing in; we would have been 5 people. Once again we were told, rather sternly this time, "No. I already told you, it's first come, first serve. You have to stay here". This made no sense since we weren't going to consume any additional seats, rather we would free up a two-top at the bar, which at that point was getting rather crowded. As we were leaving, I briefly sat at the table with my friends to say hello. I made eye contact with the owner and smiled at him, and he right came over. I explained to him, "This was all I was asking for, to join my friends at this table." He then told me that the server said I "threatened" to leave a review on Yelp, which is true. I stated to her that I was going to leave an "honest and accurate" review about our experience. But rather than trying to defuse the issue with a customer, the owner continued to argue with me and use the word "threaten". Finally, someone at the table said to him, "This is pointless, and we're all leaving. Because the food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant, even with the owner's bad attitude, I would have given Crabtree a 2 Star review. But then, I was taken aback when he stood about 10 feet away and took my picture! This creeped out everyone at the table. In several decades of going out to hundreds of restaurants of all different levels of cuisine and price, I've never met such an obtuse and abrasive owner. Bottom line is this; Crabtree is a pretty nice place with decent food, but the angry, creepy owner making guests feel uncomfortable makes it impossible to ever go back. The English Meatball really hit it home for me. The beef meatballs had good flavor and sat on top of egg noodles tossed in delicious pub gravy. The dollop of sour cream added a touch of creaminess to the entire dish and made me almost finish the whole plate. What's best was that it came out piping hot! We also ordered the tater tot poutine and Mac and cheese. Both were good but not great. A white cheddar Mac and cheese topped with cheese-itz were good pretty good on their own, but tasted a bit odd together. When you call something "Cheez-it Mac and cheese", I imagine a google baked Mac and cheese, topped real cheddar and baked golden. Needless to say, having a cream white shelled mac and cheese topped with crackers was a bit underwhelming. The taters on the tater tot poutine was nice and crunchy. Plus, I'm a sucker for gravy.... BUT, it wasn't a poutine! There were no cheese curds. Instead, some sort of cheese was melted into the gravy, which made the dish really salty. This place is one of my favorite spots in Huntington for drinks. If I'm out in Huntington I'm most likely stopping here at some point for a drink or two. They have an extensive drink list with tons of craft cocktails and beers on tap and bottles/cans. Endless choices. Jeff the bartender kills it every time. My favorite ones are with freshly cut herbs that not only taste amazing but also smell so good. I don't often order food here but I like that their kitchen is open late in case you get a late night munchie craving. Honestly I just love the vibes here overall and I like that it's not too young of a crowd. The views from the second floor of the village are nice too if you sit by the windows.
