The waitress was horrible. The food mediocre and the ambiance family oriented. My husband's hash browns weren't burnt beyond recognition and had to be sent back. When I advised that the forks/knives were dirty she got flustered and said she was getting a manager. I am never one to assume, but being people of color at this place in Brighton made me feel like we had made a very bad choice coming here. She stomped off to the kitchen and came back with better hashbrowns and began to explain that folks mistaken their dish washer cleaner as food on their forks?! Really!?! I showed her the food caked on the utensils. By the way, no manager ever came over. They weren't water spots! My husband still tipped her 20%. On the flip side I REALLY enjoyed their country store. I bought a GRINCH sweatshirt and the folks were nice. Will I be back to another Cracker Barrel? Probably not. You only get once chance to serve me nasty burnt food with an attitude. I know folks are hard to go by as employees, but at least hire folks that can handle customer service. We NEVER asked for a manager. So maybe take this as a learning moment for a young lady that needs more training.

Well, we did gobble the whole shebang before even thinking of taking a pic! Country fried steak & more

Second time ever here. The first time I nearly imploded with frustration and self-loathing after failing their silly golf tee puzzle in 30 minutes of trying! Ambiance: You know, it's Cracker Barrel. So roll out your memories of the folks out in the country you visited when you were five, with their live wood burning fireplace, I got to take a picture of the before they all died: old time grandma rocking chairs & southern picnic furniture, knick knacks stacked (I rhymed!), almost literally atop each other, on the walls--and speaking of knick knacks, I'm sure nobody gets up there every month to dust so we're probably inhaling all those dead skin cells from millions of people over the decades. Yes, I checked! 1/2 mm thick. EWWWW! But it's "country cutesy" kitsch at its best so if you like that... 5/5 Service: Server seemed almost sedated but nice, though she had no clue about the difference between a beer glass and a short tumbler, bringing a bottle for my friend, which reveals what most customers must do here with the mere 6 or so lawnmower beers available. Also we had to wait for a table because of no hostess for 4 minutes, even though they were only 2.5 customers on this sub-zero Michigan-became-Minnesota January day. 3/5 Food: Comfort food is of course where cracker barrel shines, and we were blinded by the oil fueled lamps so to speak. Country fried steak was savory with an off-white topping of gravy that hardened almost to a frosting consistency as we watched. The broccoli was delish, the country fried steak was savory and comforting, the bacon macaroni and cheese was quite awesome on this most freezing of days. Everything was perfectly designed to make you feel like Grandma was cooking and serving it, Grandpa was telling his old stories, except this time his stories ended up being repetitively boring country music playing over the radio. Okay--so it WAS Grandpa's stories all over again! 5/5

Zero flavor on the coffee. Taste like I was drinking hot half. Service was good. Food is mediocre and bland.

The tables on the side of the building are not as exciting as the seating at the front of the building. Our waiter had such an energetic vibe and was very polite. We had water within a minute of sitting down. Our order was very fast. Easily within 10 minutes. Very impressive! I loved the southern fried chicken with the mashed sweet potatoes. Their cornbread was so moist and had a nice flavor. The breading on the chicken was perfectly cooked and had a nice sweet flavor. We decided on the bread pudding for dessert which was easily a shareable item. So much flavor and wasn't too overly sweet with the candied pecans and sweet drizzle topping. Flavor was very well balanced.

We had some vidalia onion dip for an appetizer which had a good flavor. My entree was the cajun shrimp and grits. It has been a long time since I have had this dish from a restaurant done well enough to like. It was delicious. My only complaint is that the shrimp come tail-on... i know thats a thing these days, but ive never liked it. Anyways - the greens were tasty, the cornbread was good, and main portion.... delectable. We sat on the patio area. There was a nice breeze, and we joked about some of the people being scared of the sunlight because it was a bit darker inside.... Great food, great experience.

Unexpectedly they asked if we wanted them to split the meals for us and serve one of each meal on a single plate. Top notch service. The restaurant was filled with other families but was not extremely loud and overall was a comfortable atmosphere As for the food, we had the house bread & butter, crispy fried Brussels sprouts appetizer, Parmesan crusted whitefish and Rib Eye Steak with Stillwater Salad & Caesar salad The house bread came fresh and was warm. It was the perfect balance of a warm fluffy cloud with a little crunch and perfect amount of salt. The brussel sprouts were excellently presented with balsamic vinaigrette glaze and fresh Parmesan cheese grated over it. The Brussels sprouts were a tad bitter for my taste and I think would benefit from a more sweet glaze to balance out the bitterness. Overall still enjoyable Our entrees came with a choice of a salad each. We had the Caesar and Stillwater grill salad. The Caesar salad had homemade dressing and was extremely fresh and crunchy. It was overall very tasty. The Stillwater grill salad came with a honey-cider Dijon vinaigrette which I got on the side. I personally didn't like the flavor of the vinaigrette but my husband did. Instead I got a side of honey mustard which paired much better with the salad and significantly elevated the flavor. We got the Ribeye steak medium cooked. It was very juicy and flavorful. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and broccolini which were both exceptionally flavored and well seasoned. The Parmesan crusted whitefish was also perfectly cooked. The fish was moist and the Parmesan added a subtle crunch. The fish could use a little more salt but that's my personal opinion. The lemon caper butter sauce tied all the flavors together for a complete dish that was enjoyable. It also came with a side of rice and green beans which were also good Overall we had a great experience. All this food came up to $80. For such a wonderful experience we couldn't ask for a better price

AWESOME ! Service over and above what might normally be expected!…read more On April 20 while visiting daughter and grandkids in Brighton, my husband and I wanted to take everyone (daughter, boyfriend, grandson, grandson's girlfriend, granddaughter) out for a nice dinner. We were a little hesitant about finding a restaurant as grandson just started going through the process of determining food sensitivities. My daughter called ahead to check about gluten-free options on the menu as the list of what he can and cannot eat is very limiting at this time and he is still figuring things out which can be rough for a high school senior. We were seated promptly in the front window area and Shannon S. was our server. Now I don't know if Shannon was told to expect us, but she hit the ball out of the proverbial park. Not only did she suggest side options for grandson, but when questions about ingredients were asked that she couldn't answer she went to the kitchen to presumably ask chef--but she came back to the table with answers AND a binder containing all the ingredients for each menu item (no, sorry that has garlic as a seasoning; no sorry that has a sauce with onions; no sorry that has cheese). In the end, grandson was able to choose with confidence side dishes in place of the standard menu options so that his meal wouldn't mess with his digestive system--he became more of an active participant in deciding his dinner--and that his meal was one he really, really, really enjoyed. He was surprised that a restaurant would go to those lengths to help a customer. Brighton Bar and Grill was a favorite spot when husband and I lived in Howell years ago and will definitely come back to the high service and quality food we experienced on this visit.

Our waitress was attentive, had everyone's drink order taken as soon as we all trickled in. I ordered the Southwest chopped chicken salad; and added jalapenos. My only constructive criticism for the salad was to actually chop it. It was more of a seared breast that was sliced into strips, it wasn't chopped. With that said, the salad was delicious. The lettuce was fresh, the jalapeno ranch was tasty. I had no complaints putting the whole thing away for lunch. Our waitress did a great job caring for all 8 of us, while we came in at varied times, had several modifications to dishes, and some had to leave early... Great experience.
