Visited the Cracker Barrel in Moody, Alabama with a group of four and unfortunately the food quality was disappointing overall, even though the service was excellent. I ordered the country fried steak, and it came out extremely over-fried and half of it was hard as a brick. I had to send it back. Our server, however, was very polite, friendly, and handled everything professionally, which I appreciated. The biscuits and apple butter were definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, several other dishes missed the mark. The dumplings were overly salty, and the chicken and dumplings had very little chicken in it. Two people in our group ordered meatloaf dinners, and the portions were surprisingly small compared to what Cracker Barrel used to serve. It honestly felt like portion sizes had been reduced. We originally ordered the s'mores skillet dessert, but were told they didn't have the items needed to make it, which was disappointing. One thing I also noticed was that the suggested tip amounts on both the Cracker Barrel app and receipt appeared to be calculated using the total after sales tax instead of the pre-tax subtotal. Ambiance: good! Retaining the old country store design was smart! Food: REMOVE alcohol from the menu!!! A trip to CB is a "visit to grandmas house" for a meal. Grandparents NEVER offered alcoholic drinks! It doesn't fit with the marketed diner customer experience! Service: Silverware was dirty when provided to my table. :/ Someone needs to pay closer attention to detail when packing for silverware packets. This being the case, what else in the kitchen is dirty? I managed operations for a food manufacturing company for several years and it's not difficult to clean utensils if a good process is in place. Asked for lemon with my tea and none was given. Hostess was very friendly and promptly seated us. Food was served to my table over 40 mins after being seated at a time when the number of customers filled the seating area was less than 50%. Short on cooks? Food was served hot and tasted great! Where do we start... we got here at 6:15pm and we were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait but there were 12 empty tables in the front dining room. Then after 15 plus minutes we're seated greeted by a very nice server and place our orders, but after a good 7-8 minutes he returned with menus in hand because they had no chicken and dumplings left. We both reorder and 10 minutes later I was served a hamburger steak that looked like a quarter pound hamburger patty that was cooked days ago with no gravy or anything to help moisten it up a little bit. It was my first time at a Cracker Barrel location, and this was the best experience ever.  I wasn't sure what to order, but the lady who helped me with my to-go order was super helpful. The ambiance when walking in was inviting and casual. It gave you a homey vibe.      We ordered: 1.  Grandpa's country fried steak breakfast - I loved that there was a choice between country fried steak and country fried chicken.  This used to confuse me at some places when ordering.  Some places have one or the other, not both. The country fried steak was crispy and meaty.  I loved that they put the gravy separately.  Nobody wants a soggy country fried steak.  I had it with the grits.  I've never really had grits and wanted to know what it was all about.  It was yummy and creamy.  2.  Sunrise special - Gravy and biscuits with sausage.  This is a nice way to warm up your tummy on a cold morning.   Something about it is so comforting. 3.  Barrel Bite Duo- Biscuit beignets and loaded hash brown casserole tots I think these two together was a meal on its own. Biscuit beignets were crispy on the outside and fluffy/doughy in the middle.   The hash brown casserole tots, and you can't stop eating once you start.     While I was waiting for my to go order, I was definitely busy walking around looking at all the goodies that they had in their store. They had so many old-school candies, chocolates, games, and so much more.   It was hard not to buy one of everything.   They had a variety to appeal to anyone and everyone.     The two ladies at the register were super nice and friendly.   I was talking to them for a bit, and I felt like I've known them forever.  One lady was showing us her outfit that she wore at her daughter's graduation.   The people there were super nice and welcoming.  I honestly can't wait to come back.  The hospitality and food were amazing. Every time I go here I ask for Amberlyn Swain. I do not even have to tell her my order. Food is wonderful, and always correct when coming to the table. She checks on me periodically, as she does all her tables. The atmosphere here is always cozy and I love the fireplace. The decorations and the music bring you back to a different era of time. Ordered to-go, and it was supposed to be ready in no more than 42 mins. We have been waiting on our order for 35 mins past the 42 mins. We ordered breakfast. Heard the manager was prepping. I don't know if people quit, people just don't want to work, or the manger didn't schedule employees properly. Still waiting. Two customers got refunded bc they had been waiting an hour for their to-go food. It's now 8 pm. We ordered at 6:45pm. I will not be ordering from this location again. We visited tonight and had a very pleasant visit! They were really busy as they had a party of 50 that sectioned off half of the restaurant. Our server, Nathan, was great even despite the wait on seating and food. After a bit of a wait our food came out and everything tasted great! Great food but slow service! Ordered online, left home when order said it would be ready but waited in the parking lot for over 10 minutes.

Our son picked CB for his mini bday lunch. We went midday on Saturday. It was decently busy and we waited about 10 minutes for a table. We sensed/overheard a little bit of a disconnect with tables not getting cleared quickly, causing the wait. No big deal. Food tasted great and order came out correct, albeit a touch slow. Placed a delivery order. It came in a reasonable amount of time, but there was no gravy on two of the main courses and one order of potatoes. I called to let them know and spoke with the manager. Manager said she was sorry. they made no effort to solve the problem. We had to make our own gravy. A little customer service goes along way. Yum, yum, yum. I was embarrassed I had never been to a Cracker Barrel until tonight. I have heard all the buzz from the store to the food and unlike most things my experience surpassed my expectations. We had a lack luster lunch earlier and the fam was starving for something fabulous. Cracker Barrel knocked our socks off. The fireplace near our table was delightful and needed in this 37 degree weather. The staff was polite and fast with all our orders and the food ...... oh wow. Reliable Cracker Barrel. Dependable service, food hot and good. I recommend Mama's pancakes or french toast.

We eat at Cracker Barrel approximately 3 times every week. This Cracker Barrel has quickly declined over past two years. Management doesn't know menu and even if you express problem, your ignored. They always run two lines for seating which makes for complete screw up. When you have two lines you block people exiting restaurant from paying. One day you'll have someone direct line against wall and the next day nobody cares. We have witnessed customers arguing about who was first twice. I even witnessed older gentleman asked which line and greeter told him pick one. Ridiculous! read more

Soley because the store times on yelp,Google, the actual posted times on the store is not matching. The store closes at 9 PM every night is what the manager at the Location told me. They have a sign posted that they close at 11 PM yelp and Google says they close at 10 PM. This is extremely confusing and inconvenient when trying to order online or calling in, none of the times are correct. read more

I am not sure why this store has such a low rating. Every time I go to this store with my family, we receive wonderful warm service and the food always meets Cracker Barrel's standard. Even when we go before work for birthdays, they are able to serve us quickly in a way that it's possible to have a nice breakfast before work! My favorite items from Cracker Barrel are French toast, hash brown casserole and bacon. They also have pretty good coffee! If you are in the area, stop by here and you will be glad you did! Well I wish I could review the restaurant as a whole but, the rude hostess made that an impossibility due to her lack of simple manners and her ability to roll her eyes we left and went next door to Logan's. When we went into Cracker Barrel with our party of 7 the hostess rudely snapped "hold on" as she ran back to the kitchen area. When she came back she did not speak directly to us but, to a fellow employee and stated as she pointed at me "you are just gonna have to tell them they are gonna have to wait!" I then said excuse me? To which the hostess rolled her eyes and said "we already have to seat a party of 9 so it's gonna be awhile." This young lady definitely has no clue how to work and be polite in the service industry and has no business being the first person customers interact with. read more

Went in today to order takeout. The cashier called someone on her radio and said I wanted to place a to go order. I stood there over 5 minutes while the hostess and a waiter just stood there talking. The cashier went to the back to get someone to come take my order. I could see her talking to waiters and waitresses in the kitchen. No one wanted to take my order. So after standing there almost 10 minutes I left. I understand staff shortages, but there were 3 employees just standing by looking. read more

This location still takes phone orders rather than forcing me to go online. Of course, going online will not work when driving and many restaurants do not get that. Answered phone quickly and polite on phone. Curbside pickup worked great and this location is not too busy. We recently had dinner at this Cracker Barrel, for the last time. Service was non-existent. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table, even though she had been standing around with others since we arrived. The place was not busy at all. My husband had nothing to drink from about the middle of his meal and I never got the maple syrup I asked for (I had breakfast). Then she never came back to check on us and we never got a bill so we had to get the lady at checkout to get it for us. All in all, a very bad visit. read more

My family was on a long road trip and decided to call in and order our food. We got the blueberry pancakes and a basic breakfast platter. The food was not ready when we arrived and had to wait an extra 20 minutes like they didn't even start it when we placed the order.
