Had a late breakfast today with the hubs. Drizzly first day of Spring Break, so the restaurant was busy, but not over-crowded. We were seated immediately and a server came to welcome us and take our coffee order. We ordered breakfast meals (I had the French toast, scrambled, eggs, and bacon.) Delicious! Very tasty, cooked well. Hubby liked his chicken fried steak, 2 fried eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast, and grits and gravy. Loved the grits!!! He loved his meal as well. Mo, our server, was attentive, checking on us often. Very pleased with this Cracker Barrel. Bathrooms are a little out-dated and nothing special, but clean, which is important. I don't understand all the low ratings here. I've eaten here at least 20 times in the year and half we've lived here and. It's. Literally. Always. So. Good. The grilled chicken tenders are my favorite. My veggies are always fresh and delicious. My crew loves the pot pie, the dumplings, the hamburger steak and the maple bacon chicken. Really disappointed with our experience here. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, fully expecting a wait and slower than normal service with the church rush. What we got as much worse than our expectation, poor unfriendly service, super skimpy portion sizes and incorrect plates. The only food that was correct was the kids, we had to request refills. We asked for biscuits, they weren't offered as usual and we received an order for half of us with no jelly, 3/4 thru our meal. I ordered grilled chicken tenders and there was less food on my plate than my sons kids meal. After we finally received our meal I realized we were charged for small plates, rather than what we ordered and the waitress never checked. Both my husband and I left hungry after our $40 lunch. Started out awesome! We had to go on a waitlist for about 15 minutes, the host guy was so nice. So I shopped in the store while we waited and again everyone was so sweet, the cashier the customers.. Yet when we were seated, it went down hill from there. I had to change chairs because there was water all over mine. The waitress was there in a timely manner but I just asked for another minute to decide. Next thing I know we have a new waitress. Thought maybe the other one was getting ready to get off shift and was just handing off to the new shift..... no, we watch as our first waitress, Alex I believe, takes 3 other table orders. Not sure exactly what we did to offend her but I waited tables for 15 years and know that is something a waitress would do if she didn't want you. Anyway.... The food. My husbands country fried steak was very grisly, my sweet and savory chicken tenders were over cooked, no jelly for the biscuits ( none of which I complained about) and then they give us our check after only a few bites.!? Why do they do that? If I want dessert or a refill do I need to track them down instead of them checking on me? Not the first restaurant I've noticed that does that either. It makes me feel rushed and unwanted. Ok, true story... I ordered a family meal that had the meatloaf, potato casserole, biscuits, and broccoli. In the middle of picking it up had to take my husband to the ER. (He was fine by the way). Finally, got a break and returned to pick up the food. Rushed back to the home expecting my family to have a decent sit down meal....that I had no time to prepare, when I open the packages up to find old cold meatloaf ripped apart, refrigerator burn, and hardly no sauce, the biscuits were not completely done and half overcooked. Needless to say, the broccoli and casserole did not look fresh at all. I would not let my family eat that and was appalled that they would even serve something like this to a family. Cracker Barrel is definitely one of my family's favorite restaurants to visit- cute shop, friendly employees, and delicious food! However, this specific location did not meet all of our expectations. We had a very sweet waitress and were seated immediately. However, when I received my toast, I went to take a bite and noticed that it had an odd smell... I looked, and there was mold on the crust!!! Our waitress was very apologetic although it was not her fault, and went to alert the kitchen staff and manager. They were all very sincere and assured us that this would not happen again (they mentioned their bread machine was broken?), but it was still very unappetizing to smell and discover! Stopped here on our way to Austin for a quick bite to eat. We were seated right away and with a smile and the restaurant was clean. My hunny's biscuits and gravy were just ok. My biscuits, grits and over hard eggs were eh, okay too. I couldn't eat the grits, they needed cheese or something. The best part of my meal was the apple Butter and biscuits. Maybe I'll just order that next time but honestly I don't think I'll ever return to this establishment again. There are far too many other choices that provide tastier food. Took my niece out to breakfast and she chose Cracker Barrel and we got there. It was told that it would be a 15-20 minute wait and by the time we were seated it had been 40 minutes. Made the colossal mistake of coming here for lunch recently. We expected a wait and had no problem with browsing around the store a bit before being seated. However, once we were seated, it took 15 minutes for a server to come by to take drink orders. Then another 10 minutes to bring the drinks to the table. We asked for biscuits or cornbread-apparently, they were "out" of cornbread. Maybe it was the 6 baskets they brought to the table of 6 people next to us? The biscuits that finally came out were cold and crumbly. The butter packets were frozen. We finally ordered, since our waitress kept disappearing-I ordered chicken fried chicken, but they brought chicken fried steak. My sides were hash brown casserole that was stone cold and carrots, which were also cold and shriveled. Husband ordered chicken fried steak, hash brown casserole (stone cold) and fried apples. My husband and I and our baby went into Cracker Barrel on 6/11/2023 to have breakfast, this restaurant used to be our absolute favorites but I will never go to this location again. We were seated immediately, which was great. We switched tables (one table behind us so we were up against the wall) to make it more convenient to us since we had our baby's stroller with us- granted we probably should have asked a waitress if we could switch tables but the restaurant was pretty empty so we didn't think it would be an issue. We waited and waited and waited no one came to even say "hey your server should be with you soon". After 10-15 minutes, we packed up our things and left to go to Meggs Cafe which gave us INCREDIBLE service and the food was phenomenal. When I first got there, I went to the restroom and watched a server go into a stall and come out and not wash her hands. After we were seated, I asked our waitress which vegetables were vegetarian. She didn't know what I meant.....so I had to explain what vegetarian meant. She said she didn't know......I said well we need to know. What makes me mad is that out of all the places to eat, a person choose Cracker Barrel. Management can't or won't take the time to respond to complaints that are easily fixable. I am a business owner and if one of my client's have a complaint, I immediately accommodate my client with at least an apology. Apologies go a very long way. Customers are the reason why Cracker Barrel employees have their jobs. Please....take a few minutes to wipe the tables, sweep the floors, check the orders, know the rules for substituting items, check to see if the customer is enjoying their meal etc. Customer service is #1. Ate there tonight. Asked the waitress for a refill on my iced tea and she brought me one. The tea looked a little funny. When I took a sip of it the tea tasted terrible and bitter. Now a couple hours later I am sick of my stomach with nausea and stomach cramps. I will not be eating there for a long time. My family and I stopped at this Cracker Barrel in Temple Texas for dinner. the restaurant was about 75% empty and they took about 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 30 minutes to get our food. We never even got napkins nor the refills. We asked to speak to the manager and he never came to speak to us. Horrible service at this location. We have had positive experiences at other locations. Pecan pancakes delish! I can honestly say that Kadaron has been the best waiter we've ever had. He checked on us several times, brought everything we asked her, refilled our drinks before we asked. He's cheerful and charismatic attitude was the best. We asked what was the secret to their delish pancakes and he came back with Eric the chef at the time.
