Disclaimer: this review is solely about the creme brûlée donut. TL/DR; it was a fine donut, overly sweet, but mostly disappointed my expectations The donut: I found this donut on Instagram on one of those food videos and thought it was something I had to try out the next time I was in Koreatown. On the video that I saw, there was someone having this donut and they cracked it open and you could see the top layer crack because the sugar was glazed and excited me because that's exactly the same consistency you would need to make real crème brûlée. For that level of attention on a doughnut I knew that I need to go to his place because a lot of places in LA and just in general have kind of undercut the beauty of donuts and making them delicious and instead make them cutesy or gimmicky. Unfortunately for me, this donut is more on the gimmicky level as the taste wasn't as good as how it looked. I will say the consistency of the donut was perfect like one would expect of crème brûlée with a very crispy crunchy top layer of sugar and a cream filling. The most disappointing part of the donut for me was the filling. The filling had vanilla Bean in it which made me think it would taste like true vanilla bean custard; instead, it lacked the vanilla flavor and had notes if citrus and overall tasted overly sweet and slightly processed. The donut is your average type of donut from a mom and pop shop. It's not similar to Krispy Kreme but he has a fluffiness which I think will make for delicious doughnut holes which I did buy that come in packs of a dozen. Honestly, it was just the flavor that was lacking for me. The top was there which was delicious but it did stick to the roof of my mouth. The citrus was not a great addition as well. This is just how I thought of the donut and you're free to try it yourself and see if it's good. It is unique and it is one the first ones I've seen like it. I was just disappointed because I had seen this donut on Instagram and spent the entire week hoping this donut would fill the emptiness in my heart. Just kidding. But I was really excited for this doughnut. Venue: It's a nice venue with some seating and they make coffee and they have different types of donuts and I think there was Wi-Fi but I'm not sure. It's worth checking out if you're in the area and if you like everything else in the menu, but I wouldn't hold your hopes up high if you or someone that's not into donuts that are overly sweet or donuts they're kind of gimmicky like California donuts. I am more of a person that likes Krispy Kreme- Something just simple yet delicious Parking: parking in k town is a godsend. I had a turkey pastrami, mozarella, and egg sandwich, AND a spinach-pesto mozarella sandwich. BOTH were very good. These donuts, however, are nothing short of amazing. I don't know what it was about them, but they were absolutely delicious. They are super cute, pretty and over $3 a donut. Crafted Donuts is located in a strip mall in Koreatown. The donuts looked good so I was was thrilled to try them and left with a box. My verdict on the donuts... They were just ok. I was expecting deliciousness but I didn't even care to finish them. I wouldn't go back unless they had a new particular donut to try or a fun design to pick up for a kid. Kids have lower standards when it comes to donuts so the cuteness factor goes along way. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but I wouldn't be against trying them again if someone really wanted to try them. On Instagram they always post they're sold out for the day so maybe these donuts are just not my flavor and lots of other people enjoy them. The hype is real! When I first got here, i thought i was at the wrong place. It didn't look like a place that was going to have creme brûlée or Banana Cream pie donuts. Looked very simple from the outside but as soon as you go in, you're warmly welcomed by a row of donuts on your left. Highly, HIGHLY recommend the Banana Cream Pie donut. That ended up being my favorite. Funny thing is i came here for the creme brûlée donut only but boy oh boy did that meet expectations too. Texture is everything for me and that was texture heaven. For the sake of my social media, I obviously got the latter, including a banana cream, mudpie, nutella, and lemon. And while their doughnuts are gorgeous, the taste balance is a little off, unfortunately. The flavors themselves are good, but the bread is a bit too dense/thick, resulting in an unexpectedly bland doughnut, with the latter drowning out the former. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service and atmosphere are both perfectly fine at Crafted Donuts, and my server couldn't have been any nicer. Kudos to Crafted for not tacking on a surcharge for credit card orders. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Yesteryear a price tag of $3.00 for a donut would have been heresy, but in today's age of hyper contemporary donut offerings $3.00 was more than reasonable for my massive Cookie Butter Cake donut, which could have easily covered three servings. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Cookie Butter is unquestionably my favorite contemporary dessert flavor, so my expectations were high for a Biscoff-style cookie butter donut. Would there be actual cookie butter injected in the middle? Would it somehow be baked into the donut itself? The glaze? My fantasies came crumbling down a bit once I realized that my cookie butter donut was really no more than a standard oversized cake donut with a maple glaze that tasted marginally like cookie butter and a single half of a biscoff cookie in the middle with some whipped cream. Driving down Wilshire recently with my Grand Niece in tow admiring (me) the changes in the landscape of Koreatown since i grew up here when it was not K-town. All of a sudden out of the blue, Miss Naomi screamed, DONUTS! Scared the hell out of me as i thought she were having some kind of fit or had maybe witnessed a murder. But no: all she was pointing at was a store in a min-mall... Crafted Donuts. After attempting to discuss whether or not stopping to eat donuts was a good thing. Of course we stopped and checked this place out. entering this shop i noted that it's physical plant is clean, modern yet somehow homey: smelling of dough, yeast, fryer oil and sugar as a donut shop should. The service personnel were neat and clean and not, as is usual in d-shops grizzly and maybe drunk or hungover having worked all night preparing the donuts. As far as Naomi is concerned there is no other flavor of cake, muffins, donuts but chocolate. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. No white or yellow cake or glazed donuts or strawberry or peach stuffed donuts. Only Chocolate. So i bought several chocolate cake donuts, glazed with choco frosting and chocolate sprinkles. She wanted a coke but i knew, after eating all that sugar and chocolate that she might jump out of the car window (there is just so much sugar a little girl can handle) and refused and bought her milk and water both of which she barely touched. The choco choco donut is moist, the texture is tender and falls apart in my mouth. The frosting is sweet but not too and is obviously made with superior chocolate: evident both in the cake and in the frosting. The donut was fresh even at 11am which means they cull their cases often or merely sell a lot of product which is a good sign. The coffee is also very good, well brewed from high class beans. Service is fast and personal. Parking is shared with other businesses in this mini-mall. There are many other varieties of donuts, eclairs, grilled sandwiches and salads here but the kid wanted chocolate so who am i to argue with her? We left happy. I will be back. read more

Seriously such a great spot with such amazing people. They have like 5 vegan donut options (I got the vegan chai donut) and it was amazing. Idk how a vegan donut can be the best donut I've ever had. The also have very fancy coffee machines and low prices for their coffees compared to the other cafés in the area (I would know I spent almost $10 on dirty chai with soy milk that was mostly ice anyways at the place upstairs) and my soy latte here was like $3.50!! So kind they don't charge you extra for plant milk-except oat- which is how it should be. Crafted Donuts is currently the new hype within Koreatown LA. During my weekend trip to socal, I had to check it out to see if it lived up to everything that I've been hearing. Since I went around 5 PM, the donut selection was quite limited, so I was a bit bummed about that. However, the 3 donuts that I did get were all very delicious! I bought the Homer Simpson, Cake Batter, and Banana Cream Pie flavors. If you have a major sweet tooth like I do, the Homer Simpson is the clear winner. If you prefer things on the lighter end, you can't go wrong with the Cake Batter and Banana Cream Pie. This is definitely a worthy donut spot to check out in LA! Really solid, unpretentious donuts that taste great and are reasonably priced. Ordered from here VIA Postmates and the donuts came in an adorable box with a thoughtful note on the front, so first impressions exceeded expectations. The vegan cake donuts are the perfect amount of sweetness-just enough to keep reaching for more. They're also pillowy soft and not too dense/dry on the inside like cake donuts can sometimes be, plus pretty big so your dollar goes a long way. One thing to note is that the vegan donut glazes all taste pretty similar (though good). I hope that they get a little more creative with their vegan menu in the future because some of the non-vegan donuts look so exciting and out there compared to the vegan ones, but for now the small vegan menu does not disappoint.
