As a avid scrapbooker and greeting card specialist myself, I find it interesting as a friend purchased a heart-shaped rose quartz pendant for me. In the summer months, Crafts People expand their selling space outdoors (with weather permitting). Disappointedly my friend and myself were not served apple cider. Been coming to Crafts People for the past 13 years, and when I want to get myself some funky jewelry, I know where to always come. Crafts People has about 3 buildings and each, are filled with unusual gifts. One building highlights their candles and soaps. Main building houses their jewelry- from brass-made, sterling, beads, bracelets, etc. Another building, has woven items and other knick-knacks. Crafts People showcases local artists and their unique creations. We stopped by and picked up a necklace for our daughter and my hubby surprises me with a funky Copper and Turquoise necklace. Mary was so sweet and wrapped our daughter's necklace in a gift box. The attention that Crafts People gives, is always top-notch. Thank you- as always. read more

We visited this place yesterday, and we bought a lovely item which was reasonably-priced. There are four buildings, of which two are at the top of the hill and two are at the bottom. The (several) women working in the top two buildings were *very* friendly and helpful, including offering us large glasses of delicious lemonade. Also, all of the items in those two buildings were handmade. In contrast, the woman working in the (much smaller) two buildings at the bottom (they're in very close proximity to each other) was not friendly (in fact, she treated us like we were criminals) and the items in those buildings were mass-produced (the smallest building consists of scents [incense, etc.]). read more

Crafts People is an artists collaborative tucked away in the middle of the woods. Gorgeous handmade goods, from pottery to jewelery, chessboards, and musical instruments. These are infused with a master artisan "arts and crafts" feeling, nothing here is slick or modern. When you enter, you are served a beverage (mmm... mulled apple cider!) in crafted mugs. The store is actually spread between two buildings, with one housing the jewelery, lamps, frames, chessboards, jewelery boxes, etc., and the other housing the ceramics and glass (also Christmas ornaments). Especially now that everyone has GPS and can find the place, I highly recommend stopping by. read more

What a terrific place to visit and discover the most interesting items, from home to jewelry, and everything in between. I purchased, 2 handmade ceramic mugs, beautiful earrings, candles, I could have gone on and on buying items. There are 4 different buildings that contain all the items, the grounds are beautiful too, a nice setting, so relaxing. I spoke with the owner Mary, and several of the other people that work there and everyone was so welcoming. I plan on going back to purchase Christmas items, and well maybe more items for me too. Imagine four buildings filled with hand crafted items from highly skilled artists. I love to buy jewlery there, the prices can't be beat. My pottery collection is slowly growing... it's hard to resist when there are so many different styles and colors to choose from. It's always a treat to get a complimentary hot drink on a cold day, or cold drink on a hot day. There's nothing like sipping lemonade while buying myself gifts. Rudy and Mary have been successfully running this establishment for decades. This wonderful business, featuring the greatly varied craft work of over 150 artists - many locally established - is nestled upon a wooded knoll just off Spillway Road in the town of Shokan. If you were to blink while driving past, you might just miss it. It truly is a hidden treasure, but don't let that fool you. Went there for the first time. A little difficult to find. I would say to look for the address rather than their sign. We drove right by it.. The pottery , jewelry, everything was beautiful. Prices were suprisingly low, too. The free glass of wine was a very nice touch! I would have liked to see more wood crafts for sale. They had gorgeous jewelry boxes and mirrors. Your visit to Upstate NY is not complete until you happen upon this gem. A bit off the beaten path, it is well worth it to find this place. The bonus is that you will drive around the Ashokan Reservoir and take in those sights as well. When you enter one of the main buildings- you are warmly greeted and offered a beverage while you peruse the eclectic collection of Artisans wares. Don't miss the awesome glass and pottery collections in both buildings. At any rate plan on spending a bit of time there as there is allot to take in. Magical, whimsical, eclectic... just a few things that describe my visit today. Spent a good deal of time chatting with one of the ladies that worked there(didn't catch her name!), shopping and drinking fresh hot cider with a slice of orange compliments of Mary and her wonderful team- the pottery is great, but Mary is an amazing silversmith as I learned- her antique looking spoons and jewelery are worth the drive-way incline to reach bldg 3 to see (yes, there are four cottages with well-used space displaying the great art work of many). Have been back several times since the first visit in 2016 and am never disappointed in the selection. I was saddened on this visit to learn that Rudy the owner had passed away in September. My condolences to his wife Mary. The crafts people is going to continue on, Mary has great things in store, new merchandise and new artists pieces will be in the lineup.
