I've been coming here since 2014 for the happy hour and it's always been good! The vino verde is $8/glass on happy hour and the happy hour goes until 6:30pm on Friday nights which is great! We also had the east coast oysters which were perfectly briny just like I like them. The octopus was perfectly cooked and very flavorful, as were the black squid ink pasta and ahi tuna. I've also come for the mussels happy hour and really enjoyed them too. My favorite part of coming here though is the discounted wine and hanging out with friends here until 10pm give or take after the happy hour. The servers are always friendly and will occasionally give you a break on getting things off the happy hour menu a little bit late. Crave Fishbar is one of my favorite places in the city to eat. I have been a regular for a very long time and I have never been disappointed by the food or the service. In the summer it is lovely to sit outside. In the winter it's cozy inside. They have space upstairs too if you want something less loud. Now the food- this is my go-to place for oysters. They also do oyster happy hour. They are always fresh and the best part is the focus that Crave has on sustainability. The food is incredible. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order here but a lot of the times I return, it's because I am craving the following: 1. The sliders took a long time to come and we also didn't realize they accidentally gave us double serving of the salmon. Blown away! Just enjoyed an excellent meal here with friends. Made a res for 4 for 6:30, and the place was hopping but our table was there for us as soon as we walked in, about 3 minutes ahead of the res - our friends arrived just as we were sitting down. In fact, when we entered, the hostess asked if we would like to sit upstairs or at a table right by the entrance; beautiful warm spring evening so we sat by the entrance and a window wall open to the outside. There were a few tables out on the sidewalk too. Very pleasant place to be. The server, a delightful young man, Juan M it says on the receipt, gave us menus and told us that we had a few minutes left if we wanted to get anything from the happy hour menu. We asked questions about a couple of items which were also on the regular menu as appetizers and he patiently explained the differences for us. Nobody wanted any drinks, but one of our friends had seltzer instead of water - free refill, which was lovely. First of all, this really impressed me, the menu proudly states that they are partnered with the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch; I often consult Seafood Watch when I buy fish to cook at home. They serve only wild caught and sustainable fish; I believe that sustainable seafood is important. We shared the za'atar cauliflower, listed as a side dish, as our appetizer for the table. Our entrees: 1 tuna, served beautifully sliced and perfectly pink on the inside of each slice, over smashed potatoes and corn, a little queso fresco and some salsa; 1 little gem salad with grilled salmon; and 2 plancha grilled barramundi. If I tell you that everything we ordered was served with appearance in mind (we do actually "eat with our eyes" before we even taste our food). And every. single. person. in our little group was blown away by the flavors and high quality of our food! I love spicy, and the barramundi came with a miso-honey glaze plus chipotle oil. The other person who ordered the barramundi got his chipotle oil in a little dish on the side, as he doesn't like spicy. I poured most of his extra over my fish. It really had just a teeny tiny kick to it, not at all what I'd call spicy, not in the least. But believe me that fish was SO delicious! It was a decent size piece for the money, too, and served atop 3 of the fattest asparagus spears I've ever seen. The asparagus was perfectly cooked, just crunchy enough to need to be cut with a knife, but easily cut, and the combination was well paired. We chose not to have dessert. The waiter wasn't fazed at all, a 4-top where nobody ordered drinks or dessert. We had such a perfect meal, with excellent service, water and seltzer refilled, noise level loud but we could still hear each other talk (no mean feat with 4 people let's just say 60+ to be diplomatic). For as many years as my husband and I have walked by and said we have to try this place some day...we now know that we will definitely be there again! I want to try his tuna, he wants to try the barramundi, there are other good-sounding options too! The restaurant was bustling in merriment. We started off with a platter of 24 delicious briny East Coast bivalves (oysters, matey!) which went down well with our yummy spicy 'Good Life' margaritas. My friend recommended this place for happy hour and the oysters. Lots of options for the oysters and we couldn't decide what we wanted so we let them chose the oyster for us. This was an over priced and okay meal. I had been wanting to come to Crave Fishbar for quite some time and I had high expectations because of other reviews. I want to start off by saying the Fall Sangria was awful. It was sour, had absolutely no bourbon, and tasted like a sour seltzer water with juice a few fruits floating in it. The calamari was the best thing I had for dinner, and the Gulf Shrimp Roll decent, but not the best. My partner said the burger was at best a 5/10. Also, this may seem like a small detail, but important to me - no cocktail napkins. When I asked, they said they had none and brought me what looked like bathroom paper towels - terrible. Quite possibly my favorite seafood spot in the city , though I'm not from here. Sea bass crudo was insane...each bite I made a groan it was amazing. Had 38 oysters of all different kinds. Not a single one was bunk , all cold and delicious. I would have liked shallots in the mignonette sauce, but not complaining. Rock crab was hard to get out of the shell but still worth getting. Crave Fishbar had been on my radar for some time, so early on a warm Saturday evening we decided the time was nigh for a visit. Stopped by for an early dinner and asked to be seated in the cool dark section near the bar. Liked the laid-back vibe, and our server Lauren was very engaging and attentive throughout the evening. Refreshing Margarita and vodka-based "Big Ben" cocktails were a NYC bargain at $9 each (daily Happy Hour 4:00 - 6:00 pricing) and packed a boozy punch too. Salmon avocado tostada appetizer was pure buttery goodness, and quite filling despite its petite size. I don't often see barramundi offered in NY so had to try it. Crave's version of the white flaky fish is a hefty crisped filet kicked up with a piquant honey/spice glaze, resting on plump tender asparagus stalks. Scrumptious! Hubbie's squid ink pasta was different from what we've seen elsewhere, as the pasta (rather than the sauce) was infused with dark ink. Shrimp topping was on the scant side but flavorful. On to dessert. I loved combining the three Affogato elements (espresso, scoop of ice cream and fresh whipped cream) myself. That "deconstructed affogatto" really hit the spot as it wasn't heavy but truly satisfying. As we left to rejoin the throngs of people on Second Avenue, I was satiated and happy but not bloated. I've been here before for a casual dinner but this particular visit was for a corporate event. Reviewing the "private event" they hosted for my company. We had a coat rack for our garments so that was a plus. Just make a note to ask for it when booking your event. We were a group of 15 and they hosted us upstairs, next to the windows and balcony. We were told you can step out and sit or take a breather. I didn't but from the view, it's a good space and nicely decorated. The drink options we were given were very good - we had a menu of items to choose from which included wine, beer, and misc cocktails - everything was listed on a nice placard. Food was delicious, served buffet style. Utensils and plates were available as needed. The favorites were the sushi, lobster rolls and fish tacos. From my previous dining experience, the upstairs is quieter and less crowded than the main floor. But the vibe is different too. For people watching, stay on the main floor.
