It is not the biggest women's hairdressers around, but it certainly looked the part. The equipment they used looked very modern, clean and hygienic. I was very comfortable in their waiting area. The seats were comfy and they had a nice selection of magazines on offer to browse through whilst I waited. I was even offered a beer or a glass of white wine, but I only really wanted a cup of tea. I told them this and they were more than happy to offer me a cup. The haircut and blow dry cost my girlfriend thirty pounds and she was very pleased with the job done. I thought her hair looked great and would therefore recommend them to all the women I know.

I got the impression that they may have been short staffed but I wasn't made aware of any issues. Once seated, I was offered a hot drink and sat reading magazines for around 20 minutes. Once taken over to meet my stylist, she went through the style I had in mind, agreed it would work and then sent me off to have my hair washed before I returned to have it cut. The salon wasn't the most friendly I've ever been in and I wasn't made to feel overly welcome but it was OK for a trim.

I have no time for fussy styles or complicated fashion cuts but that doesn't mean I don't want to look good because I'm vain enough to care about my appearance. I get a great cut from Helen. It always looks good and I don't feel pressure to ask for the latest style, colour etc if I don't want to. On the other hand I'm sure they can do all of this with ease should I change my mind. B In the City do both european and afro hair and what I have found is the service is quicker and I can be in and out in 90 minutes - 2 hours max whereby at other salons I could be there 6 hours just having a relaxer and cut!!! One was at Luke Antony in Selly Oak, and the other was in lovely lovely Kore in Kings Norton. It's a beautiful salon, and overlooks the green, so that won my vote before I'd taken about 2 steps inside the door. When I did, however, I was warmly welcomed, and surrounded by people with great haircuts. I knew I would do well here. And I did. I had Kevin - who everybody seems to love - and rightly so. Despite the fact that I normally like hairdressers to listen to what I think rather than just going off on their own merry accord, Kevin kind of took control - but all his suggestions were spot-on. I think I love him. I am planning on smuggling him out of there and installing him permanently in my house as my hair slave. It is pricey. It is not astronomical, but it is pricey. That said, I am yet to meet anything other than a very, very satisfied customer of this place - me included. They've not put a foot wrong, as far as I can tell. Keep up the great work, Kore!
