If I normally am listening to the radio, it is usually sports talk radio. But the times that I am…read morenot, I am listening to Birmingham Mountain Radio. My wife on the other hand, has BMR on 99% of the time. So if I am with her, we are definitely listening to BMR. And I'm not mad about it. The music selection is varied enough that you can hear some songs you know all the words to and also discover some new artist you haven't heard before. I have been fortunate enough to interact with a couple of the shows on here and it has always been a great experience. The Morning Blend With Reg and Will and Oh Brother Radio are not only entertaining to listen to. But they also make it entertaining and easy to be on. BMR is proof that radio is still alive, kicking, and putting out quality content.

As with many people in the south, I am big into sports. And in particular college sports. So a radio station with entertaining and knowledgable shows that center around local college sports, is right up my alley. Even though college sports (football in particular) are the meat of their content, the local shows do a good job keeping you involved with a lot of the other happenings in sports. Any big events going on professionally or locally, they cover it thoroughly. And also sprinkle in a lot of entertainment along the way. Every morning I use my portable speaker to listen to the Roundtable as I get my kids ready in the morning. Any time I have midday meetings, I get to enjoy Three Man Front on my commute. I could really do without The Paul Finebaum show. But as the biggest radio show on college football in the country (that happened to start in Birmingham), they have to have it on. The lineup of shows they have until 2 PM is perfect. A very entertaining sports talk radio station through and through.

However, the most enjoyable thing has been the Christmas album they all got together and created. Fox 6 is lucky to have such a talented group of people throughout their entire staff. They created this album, donating their time and talents, to help raise money for the salvation army. I want to thank them for keeping me informed and making my drive into work so enjoyable as I listen to their versions of several Christmas Classic. Merry Christmas Y'all!

Sitting atop the mountain next to The Club and NBC Studios, the building overlooks the magic city. Accessing the property can be a little bit difficult. You turn into Vulcan and veer left, passing NBC on the right. There are no signs to let you know that the Fox studio is down the road, but it is there. Overall, my experiences with the staff at this TV station have been good. There are quite a few well-known local TV personalities that work for the station. All of them are very friendly and good at their jobs. I have found some of the production staff to be a little more difficult to work with, forgetting important details about TV spots and not having things prepared on interview days. However, everything always works out and seems prepared in the end.

Although it is mostly talk, the DJ always plays a good selection of soundtrack music in the background and at talk breaks. Topic of conversation has ranged from cinematic parkour and CGI technology to modern music composition and "Scrubs"- ever week is something new and off the wall. Listeners are welcome to call in with their thoughts, opinions, song requests which is cool.

It's a station run by a small group of guys who don't just know about the underground scene, they are in it. Without a doubt, Vulcanite is one of the most honest stations I've ever heard. They have actual DJ battles, live on the air. If you're in to good music, you'll be in to Vulcanite.

Now, the four leaf clover has landed in Birmingham. Substrate Radio has yet to play a song I haven't liked. I don't know all the songs, and that's a great thing. I'm able to discover music, new and old, with little to any effort. Good news, it's an internet station. This means Birmingham can share its luck with all its neighbors.

As having worked in IL, OK, UT, TX, and AL, in an industry that is weather dependent these guys are horrible in comparison. I prefer a meteorologist to take a stand and if they miss it, try again next time. JP sure seems to give a broad statement like "increasing chance of isolated thunderstorms." They are also receiving 3 stars as they are by far better than any other news stations available in the Birmingham area. Shout out to JP to saddle up, do your homework and tell us your best guess. You seem like an intelligent meteorologist with a great work ethic and good personality. Now quit hyping, and putting a severe weather alert for half the state. Figure it out and let us know.
