We've been for dinner and lunch and this is a hidden gem in Jackson. Dinner was very good and is BYOB but I remember lunch better so I'll focus on it. Quiche and salad is popular. I had the steak salad with perfectly cooked meat, perfect bourbon bacon vinegarrete, lots of fresh well portioned ingredients. Pimento cheese appetizer made local and tasty. Crazy Cat is consistently great and I love almost everything on the menu! I especially love the chopped salad with grilled salmon and the spinach salad with beef. I have now eaten at Crazy Cat 3 times, with last night being the most frequent visit. The menu switches up all the time so there's a chance that something you got 6 months ago is not on the menu anymore, especially desserts. They don't provide details on their tickets so you have no idea what you are paying for. We had to trust that the waitress charged us correctly. Speaking of, our waitress was super bubbly at first (we had a party of 11), but she got super bitchy as the night went on. She kept forgetting things we ordered then got mad at US when we asked for them. This girl used to work at Babalu and we can only assume she got fired for being mean to customers. One of the best perks of CC is that you can brown bag. However, I am pregnant and didn't drink but still got charged a corking fee. I didn't make a big deal out of it because it was $2 and I didn't feel like getting yelled at. As far as the food, you can't go wrong with the menu. Lots of great flavors! read more

An excellent small restaurant with proper service and delicious unique southern inspired food. Our table ordered the fried green tomato appetizer with bacon jam, the shrimp and grits casserole and a spinach quiche. Standouts among the table were the friend tomato w/BACON JAM appetizer, well done Meatloaf and creamy Grits Casserole. Cindy's attention to detail made our lunch experience comfortable. This place is awesome!! Great atmosphere and wonderfully delicious food!! The menu items are so unique. We had the Roasted Chicken Pesto, the Turkey Brie, and the soup of the day which was Chicken Mushroom. What a lovely surprise this was. A coworker suggested this place for a team luncheon. 8 of us were happily welcomed and accommodated by the hostess and wait staff. We went about 1245 and it was still a full lunch crowd. That's a good sign that the food is good and it was. I tried the shrimp tamales/fritters and the "not your mother's"grilled cheese. It has melted Brie and strawberry preserves on toasted wheat served with either salad or roasted potato salad. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad but others loved it. The grilled cheese was incredible though. I enjoy led the shrimp fritters as well. 1 person raved about their shrimp and grits casserole and the special for the day which was a bass fish served will salad and fried green tomatoes which I taste tested and really enjoyed. Between the incredible service and the delicious food, I can't believe I had never heard of that place before today. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

While the "Best Lunch in Jackson" is a highly subjective topic from person to person, this place gets my vote! Crazy Cat Bakers is neatly tucked away in a corner of Highland Village. The place seems to primarily specialize in baked goods and catering, but don't let that make you shy away from having lunch there! The Highland Club is my recommendation. They don't skimp on the turkey or brie, and the onions and basil pesto mayonnaise ties it altogether into a sandwich of perfection. I also like how you can choose chips OR salad as a side, with no upcharge for the salad. During cool weather, sometimes soups are available to order as well. I recall a butternut squash soup last November that was soooo creamy and delicious! With lunch, there's a small selection of desserts available. They also serve hot coffee. It's cozy inside and not ideal for large groups, so get there early or know you might have to wait (but it will be worth it!) When it's not sweltering hot or bitterly cold, I'm sure the outdoor tables are also pleasant. Also, be sure to check out the eclectic cat decor on the walls and in the restroom. CATS!! read more

Forgive me, for I'm sure I've committed gluttony today. I actually did not attempt to have an appetizer, I knew good and well dessert was in the horizon. I ordered the smoked Gouda pimento and cheese sandwich on the most buttery lightly toasted sourdough bread. Oh my goodness. So simple but perfectly paired. I also tasted the caramelized onion BLT that a friend had and it was amazing. We have decided that if you married both of our sandwiches together, you'd have a new favorite sandwich! I had the roasted potato salad. Oh it was perfect with the hint of rosemary dressing. Herbs were on point. My dad had the shrimp and grits casserole. He enjoyed it. He said it only needed a bit of salt. I ordered him the blueberry cobbler with the vanilla bean ice cream. It was really good, not overly sweet even with the ice cream. I'd say the filing to cobbler ratio needed some minor adjustment, but I'm a filling kind of girl. The blueberries were perfectly tart and sweet. I ordered my bread pudding to go because it's magical, and should not be consumed in a public setting our service was awesome. Very knowledgeable with great suggestions, attentive, and she is one of our newest group members, as of today! The company was great, some new faces to put with names. So glad you guys joined us. I will just say this, I was skeptical of all of the five star reviews but yes it is really that good.

I always loved this place in Highland Village. I went there during my lunch break when I worked near the area. It was the perfect spot on a cool Spring day. My go to was always the daily quiche (the BEST!) and a strawberry salad with a light dressing- and the candied pecans on top. It was amazing and made my day go by pleasantly. When I heard they left the area I was completely crushed. But- the heavens were listening and I discovered they have a new location. My happy dance can begin again. If you are near the area I insist you swing by- also I bet you can not resist the brownies or lemon bars they have on display. Grab one or two- it will be the best decision you make that week! read more

I live in Austin Tx, and this is hands down one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in my life. The service, food, and ambiance are second to none. Our server, Kila, had the best personality and made us feel right at home. I highly recommend getting the salmon if it is on the menu. This was a great dine in find. It had excellent food. Between four adults there was nothing but ravings of how good the food was. The desserts were also amazing and the staff was extremely helpful, even with three children with us who were demanding. I've been here several times, including at lunch today. They are still in Highland Village but are moving to Canton Mart Square. That's probably a plus as parking will be easier, although it was not bad today. I ordered the carmelized onion blt, and my friends ordered the chicken artichoke panini and the spinach artichoke quiche, all with salads as the side. Quiche comes with a strawberry salad (lettuces, nuts, berries) and the others come with house (lettuces, almonds, parmesan). They were fresh and generous - the honey balsamic dressing is always good. My sandwich was delicious - a thick layer of caramelized sweet onions, along with romaine, tomatoes, thick sliced bacon cooked perfectly, and a basil pesto mayo served on sourdough bread. It was every bit as good as it sounds. My friends panini with chicken and artichoke was also great, but we both loved the blt the best. The quiche is housemate with a delicious crust. While I've never tried the desserts (always get too full with their portion size), they look fabulous. Today they had a Thin Mint brownie pie, cappuccino brownies, and several other choices. CC is only open for lunch 11 to 3:30 or so. It's small right now (maybe 7 tables) but there is outside seating. Come before noon to pick a table and have a chance to order the daily special. Tucked behind other businesses, it certainly isn't a place you would accidentally locate. I am SO GLAD I happened to find it though. I had the meatloaf, which was absolutely wonderful.
