I ate here tonight, for the first time, and it was DELICIOUSLY AMAZING!!! The flavors of the burrito, the pork, beef, and barbicoa are mind blasting!!! It beats my own crockpot mix. I wish they were closer...you're so lucky you're an hour drive away because wow!!! I've never gushed over a place quite like this. A pile of meat on a small round corn tortilla...it needs no toppings. Just eat it as is. I had 5 and went back for 3 more. The margaritas are all premixed, frozen and are made with 100% aguave tequila that you can taste! We had the strawberry and lime margs. Yum!! Its worth the 1hr drive and more. The only authentic TexMex food place in Nürnberg (and probably the whole south of Germany)! Ever since spending one year of my life going to college in southern California, I've been trying to find legit Mexican food back home in Germany, but I was disappointed by every single restaurant until I found Crazy Nate's. The 1€ tacos on Taco Tuesday are an amazing deal, and I simply LOVE their burritos and margaritas. Their burritos definitely aren't cheap, but I'm more than willing to spend the money, because they're just that good. Nate is super nice, which is always a plus, and I always feel like I've been transported back to California when I'm in there. I ordered the burrito called the Portland. Soooo super yummy and huge! The place is rather small but we made friends quickly and sat down to eat our burritos. The ambiance is really chill and relaxed with snowboards and skateboards as seating (of course it's tall enough) I had a margarita too that was a bit weak but I like to drink a lot so i practically don't taste it much anymore. Try the cactus with vegan cheese. Gluten free? They've got you covered with corn tortilla tacos. If you enjoy spice (like me) go for the Death Valley burrito & cool it down with a margarita. And don't forget an order of nachos to share! It is a fun, friendly atmosphere & the staff exudes positivity. Nate's is by far my picky family's favorite place to eat. Here's the deal. We were really excited to give some Cali love as we tapped on the flag just outside the door (because we're from Cali and Phoenix, AZ), but the food fell short. Don't get me wrong, the inside brought me back to home with skateboarding videos, seeing Luchadores on the walls while listening to Salt-n-Pepa sitting on the toilet, and tables outside with snowboard seating. We came up with things like, "maybe he doesn't have the correct resources, maybe he can't get good tortillas, maybe location, maybe..." but in the end it was hard to swallow price and materials. Stylistically, you've nailed it. It's Cali love. On the first bite of my burrito, I felt like I was eating a burrito I make at home with Mission tortillas (not the real deal), a can of Rosarita beans (good ole' stand by, but not exactly restaurant quality) and crock pot meat (don't get me wrong, it can taste good, but come on), but not the real deal. I'd forgive it if he'd took a take on the Cali-burrito and put a spin on it. Nate, you gotta look to "Dolores" in Berlin near Alexanderplatz. We want to give you some sweet lovin' but it just doesn't cut it for 9 euros for a burrito. In Cali, I can get a grubbin' burrito for $5-7 dollars, almost half the cost and maybe even less than that. One last bit was that there was a mistake on our order of tacos. We went up to say we weren't given the right garnish on our tacos and the person told us the cashier must have misunderstood and didn't fix it. I know, I know, it's a small bit in the overall scheme, but you're in the service business, right? It should have been corrected. We ate the tacos as is, but would have preferred to have them as we had ordered. read more

I came here yesterday for a comedy event and decided to go early for some food. I enjoyed both the Long Beach Style Burrito (I mean how can you go wrong with chicken, cheese, bacon and guac?) as well as the ice-cream sandwich, which consisted of chocolate-chili flavored cookies and vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere was enjoyable, but I prefer small establishments like this over large ones. I also liked being able to chat with Nate, who certainly adds to the charm of the place. Food was okay nothing great. It was super over seasoned. I'm from Mexico so i know my cuisine pretty well. My rating is purely on the food because the wait time is awful. I waited an hour for two tacos and a burrito. No where in Mexico or in the US does a 2 tacos and burrito take that long. Cook wasn't wearing gloves too. when someone first mentioned to me, casually, that there was a new taco place in Nuremberg, I tried to play it off cool. 'OH REALLY? TACOS? I DON'T CARE AT ALL. I AM LEAVING NOW, NOT TO GOOGLE THIS PLACE, BUT BECAUSE MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE.' My brain tried to tell me to not get too excited - how many times have I been lured by the promise of authentic Mexican food in Nürnberg, only to be left in the bitter wake of lackluster burritos, promising to never again be tricked by some hipster joint with cool deco but only ok food. Still, the heart wants what the heart wants. So on a sunny Friday afternoon I headed out to check out Crazy Nate's. We got there just as it opened for lunch at noon, and it is indeed a sweet little spot: bright and clean, decked out with retro toys, and on a big screen TV, the 1995 World's Strongest Man competition. I took note of the Lol Tun hot sauce bottles on the tables, and was cautiously optimistic. My date got the pork tacos, I ordered the Santa Cruz Cop burrito, and we got a couple of margaritas to wash them down. The margaritas were great - the fresh lime shining through, and not fluorescent green and full of weird shit like many margaritas one encounters these days. So far so good. But we weren't here for ironic atmosphere, or even great margaritas, we were here for West Coast style Mexican food, and what we got was West Coast style Mexican food. Although my burrito was wrapped in what I would call a mission style tortilla, the filling was excellent, the pork verde soft and sufficiently seasoned - no addition of curry powder that you often find in German Mexican food. The balance of the meat with the other fillings was also spot on, and it was pretty shameful how quickly I finished the whole thing. My date also gave his full approval to the tacos. I will say that the chips seemed a little over seasoned and salty, and although I was promised that the Carolina reaper salsa was so hot that it would peel my taste buds off, it was only just kind of hot. Still, it was easily as good as some of my favorite Mexican joints in Berlin (another reviewer mentioned Dolores - seriously??) and definitely the best Mexican I've had in Bayern. That's not to say it was only good for Germany though, I would say that it was on par with solid West Coast style Mexican food I've had back home. Finally, a great Taco joint in Nürnberg! read more

If you're tired by all the blandness Germany has to offer in the middle of Spargelsaison, this place is definitely for you. The authentic Mexican food with the awesome salsas will open your taste buds to an orgy you knew you had to have. The authentic LOL-TUN and Cholula hot sauces coupled with the Jarritos (signature in any Mexican taqueria worth the name) add fire to the Extravaganza Mexicana taking place in your mouth. Being from Texas we were skeptical about a Mexican joint in Germany but this place is fantastic. Cool, relaxed atmosphere - great food. We'd eat here even if it was in San Antonio where we have tons of taco joints. Nate was super friendly and gave os suggestions of things to do in town. We found Crazy Nate's through Trip Adviser and were skeptical, but this place was AMAZING! First of all, Crazy Nate was there to greet us in what he described as his "ultimate clubhouse." The decor is a great throw back to 80's/90's and the food was incredible. Margaritas were amazing as well. The TVs play recorded television from the 80's, everything from sitcoms to news reports - the hair is epic. Nate is so friendly, we had a great time chatting with him and the service was fantastic. Easy to get to from the train, definitely check this place out, you won't be sorry! read more
