Then I saw the steep prices for salad on the menu (around 14€) and decided I needed to order something else. ;-)
Next thing I knew, I saw the following option: 'Die schärfste Currywurst am Chiemsee' - and I knew I had to try it.
We also ordered Spaghetti Aglio e Olio for Junior and the salmon Stockerlfisch for my husband.
My food was just OK. They used some kind of red beef sausage for the currywurst which I am guessing is a local thing, but it was decent. The Thai-inspired curry sauce was rather lame unfortunately. It kind of felt as if they had just mixed two store-bought sauces together. It had a bit of heat, but if that makes it the spiciest curry sausage around the lake, then I don't want to try the others. LOL The fries were just OK as well.
The spaghetti were pretty good. They were al dente and not too oily.
The star of this lunch was definitely the Stockerlfisch. I never had freshwater salmon before and was quite interested to see how it compares to the Pacific salmon I usually eat. I am happy to report that it was quite nice. The fish had a good flavor and was well prepared without being dry. Totally recommended to try it.
A note about the service:
It was quite slow, but this place is super busy so I feel you need to take this into account. At the same time, every waiter I talked to or observed seemed very friendly and in a good mood - and that is certainly worth mentioning if a place is buzzing like Westernacher.
