There is a reason they only offer a 30 day limited warranty. I should have sent it back when I saw the grommets on the tarp were spaced irregularly and missing in some places. The corner tabs were very crooked. After 4 months of sunshine (no extreme wind or rain) the tarp was wearing thin everywhere it touched the upper beams. After 5 months the tarp has basically fallen apart. Creative Shelter's response was to remind me of the 30 day warranty. I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Unethical and illegal business practices. I strongly urge everyone to not conduct business with either this firm, or the people who run and work at this company. A tarp was ordered and expedited (same day) shipping was paid for. The order was automatically (bot) confirmed as were the expedite terms on a Sunday, and the terms advised a follow-up email would be sent. - The shipment arrived incomplete and late. - UPS records confirmed the order shipped out late. - Phone calls were not answered, and their vmail system was unable to accept recordings due to it being full. - Emails were not answered. Upon receiving the late and incomplete shipment, I sent a detailed email with evidence of their violation of the terms of the contract with a promise to share this poor experience if they were unable to make good on the terms by completing the order and refunding the expedite fee. Only then did they respond to my emails, and promised refund of the failed expedite fee and shipment of the balance of the order. The expedite fee was not refunded. If I had the time, I would file a grievance with the local chamber of commerce and the BBB for their illegal business practices, but sadly, firms like this prey upon the knowledge that most people don't have the time to do all this work, and they can thus exploit this fact to illegally enhance their bottom line. read more

Buyer beware.... if you are considering buying a tarp from this company, make note of their warranty because it's only 30 days. So, if you find that 2 months later your tarp has developed small holes and the silver coating is peeling off in the folds, you're SOL. This was supposed to be a heavy duty, water proof tarp and it has holes in it. They may offer another defective tarp at a discounted price, but I' sure they would still be making a profit on it --and you would just have more holes.... read more

I have read several of the reviews and found many unhappy customers. I once worked for this company and after leaving in 2012 they hired a person that had been trained but failed to follow through on emails and phone messages. I continue to work as a contracter for them and know they are doing their best. They are a family owned and operated company who after a year of one bad employee they are finally getting back to the service they once had. EXCELLENT! I recommend giving them another try. They now have steps in place for accountability in order to make sure customers orders are shipped on time and arrive on time. Great place! In the market for exactly what they offer, and since I live across the river, I thought that everything would go smoothly. Their store hours are limited, and I couldn't get away from work to go ask some questions, so I emailed them. Nothing. No response for over a month, at which point they emailed and apologized, but didn't answer my question, only repeated their limited hours. Fine - we all miss things. So I take an afternoon off of work to go over and design and order my shelter. They seemed surprised that I would come to their store, and after standing there for a bit, a young girl helped me. I say helped in that she went to their own website to find the information about their own product. OK, maybe she's new. That's fine. She takes my order - not extensive, but not cheap either. "We'll call you in a week when it's ready." Thank god no money changed hands. A month later, no call. So I call them in the middle of their limited hours, and ... get an answering machine. I sort of resignedly leave a message with all my details about the order and my phone number and so on, not expecting a reply. I wasn't disappointed. Not sure what they're doing over there. I ordered a custom design low slant roof using their web site planning features a year ago (7/2016). There was a time element (due to my procrastination) involved. Everything arrived on time, all 26 fittings, tarps, bungies worked great. All is good. We take it to air shows and attach it to the side of our camper in leu of an awning because it's sturdier and larger. Many ups and takedowns in the past year and everything is still perfect. Beware of http://www.creativeshelters.com ! Terrible customer service, deceiving web site, and false advertisement. - They received payment but didn't process until I called them. Told me something wrong with my order. - Calls to support are almost always to go voicemail and unreturned when I left voice message. - The same goes for email/contact form on their site. Directly email did the trick. - They send parts on multiple shipments without notifying you. They shipped the attachable tee and ball ties on one other. Then the frame fittings (no labels, no packing slip, just throw them in the box and ship). They didn't ship my tarp and told me they shipped already! Eventually they admitted they didn't, said backorder. I asked for a refund and it's currently being processed. - They advertised 10 free ball ties for order over $50 on their site and in the email confirmation (I paid around $79). Never shipped them and didn't mentioned a thing when I email them. - I never receive any instruction. I checked the order form to request instruction. - Totally wasted my time trying to call and reach someone, submitting the contact form, and emailing sales@creativeshelters.com I hope this help whomever looking for canopy kits. read more

Poor customer service and much longer processing and shipping time than advertised. I placed my order on May 17th, after numerous phone calls I sent an email and did get a call back on May 24th. I was told that my order was due to ship that day from an in-state location, so I would have it the next day. I never received a shipping confirmation email, however I did receive my order on May 30th (almost a week later), and it appears to be complete.... Update: After assembling my canopy, I can state that the canopy design is perfect, and the tarp is high-quality, but the fittings or are just "OK". I had several fittings with stripped threads where the eye-bolt attaches, and the metal on the "Foot" fittings is very thin. Overall, I give em a C+..... read more

Ordered a tarp from them. Paid USPS priority shipping. Two weeks pass and no tarp. Hard to reach them. They do not reply to email and it is hard still to reach them by phone, but when I did the lady at the phone said she was sure it shipped. Told me she will contact their supplier and get me my tracking number and call me back. Day passes, don't hear from them. Call them back and lady at the phone says guess they didn't ship it. She said they can ship it today or I can get a refund. I picked refund. Been a month now and still no refund has shown on my bank account. I ordered Sun Blocker DuraTarp from CreativeShelters.com. I received generic Chinese tarp instead of DuraTarp, and part of the label with specs (thickness/number of layers, etc.), was cut out. They also sent only 50 ties instead of 55 ordered. Creative Shelters did not respond to my emails and phone messages. Only after I mentioned in email that I am going to open credit card dispute, they send an email with promise to send me return label but they never did. Finally, after 5 weeks of sending emails/ calls they provided return label. Even after receiving merchandise back, they still did not give me a credit. After 30 days wait period, Credit card representative called Creative Shelters and was promised that credit would be posted within 2 business days. After all, they had never returned my money. It is not a good business practice to cheat customers, give false promises, and lye even to bank representative. I recommend everyone to stay away from Creative Shelters. read more

I purchased a large shadescreen tarp from Creative Shelters approximately one year ago, but didn't actually put it up until this past spring. It lasted through the summer, but in October, a wind storm ripped it to shreds. My first thought was that it must have been a terrible wind storm. Then I realized that the shadescreen material was completedly sunrotted. It was disintegrating in my hands as I was pulling down the remaining pieces. I've owned numerous shadescreens in my life, but have never seen any of them deteriorate like that, even after several years. Not sure what type of material Creative Shelters is using, but it's obviously not made for being in the sun. Please don't waste your money on their products, unless you first purchase a shadescreen to protect your shadescreen. read more

I think this company has proven they are imposable to work with, and will say anything to justify thier incompetence and outright lies. They do Not have a 10 x 12 valance cover that fits a 10 foot wide 12 foot long High Peak Frame. The top they sent me is Rope Valance and fits over the top perfectly , But , is 2 foot short. I sent them pictures and explained what the problem was. After many calls and no solutions, after sending the wrong size twice and telling me I ordered the wrong size and talking in circles , they finally said they Do Not have 12 foot long High Peak Frame -2 years later and out the money and NO Cover. read more

I have been trying for 2 months now to get these missing parts to no avail! Read the reviews!! POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ordered a shade/tarp for my patio on MAY 25th, I never received it. I called a little over a week after my order was processed and after receiving an email confirmation stating that my order was shipped. When I spoke with a customer service rep she said that she needed to have her supervisor look up my order and call me back. Not sure what operating software they are working with, but they should be able to tell me what I ordered, when I ordered it, if and when it was shipped, and where it is currently located using a tracking number. In any case, I never received a phone call and had to call back the next day. I was then told that for whatever reason my order was never shipped and they would expedite it for me. She said that I will receive an email with the tracking number and it should arrive in a few days. None of which was true. Four days later I called back, left a message, and received a phone call yesterday, JUNE 23rd nearly a month later, stating that the supplier does not have that particular color in stock and that my money would be refunded. Wonder how long this will take. It took longer than it should have for me to receive this information, which leads me to believe that they are a disorganized company that needs to get their act together. read more

Ordered a tarp and credit card was charged on June 17. Made e-mail inquiries after a month since I had not yet received the order - no response. Made a phone call after a couple more weeks referencing the e-mail date, invoice date, and relevant information. Had to leave a voice mail because no one answered the phone. Received a voice mail a couple of days later asking me to call back (but they already had enough information to deal with the issue). Received an e-mail in early August saying they had had a problem with an employee who had since been fired and offering a discount on future purchases, but my issue had still not been resolved. Sent another e-mail to their "customer service" a week ago referencing all of the relevant information asking them to fulfill the order at a discount or refund all charges. They still have not responded. Filed a complaint with the BBB today and am preparing to dispute the charges with my credit card company. Avoid this company at all costs! I needed a cover for a vintage trailer I store near Springfield, OR and I found this company. I ordered a cover (parts plus tarp, to be assembled) for around $600 on October 27. The person in the shop promised that the delivery would arrive the following week. A month went by; still no delivery. I don't live in Oregon so the person accepting the delivery for me made many calls and visits to this company's offices and was promised a delivery "next week", "by next Friday", whatever. The company did not respond to any of my emails or phone messages about this. Meanwhile my vintage trailer was sitting in the rain unprotected. Finally the delivery was made after more than a month BUT it was incomplete. Two of the connections holding the structure of the cover together were missing. My friend in Oregon made more visits and calls to the company and was promised the delivery "by Wednesday December 3". It is now December 7. Still no delivery, still no cover, and still no response from the company except for empty promises. I wanted to do business with a small local company instead of a box store but I really, really regret my choice. read more
