Pros: Contemporary, easy to get involved, friendly and challenging pastor, entrepreneurial environment Cons: Hype based, cliche, highly untrained/uneducated staff, shallow atmosphere, lack of scriptural depth, no pastoral accountability, non-discipleship based small groups, unaccountable to any particular denomination, no church elder board, questionable financial operations, overemphasis on financial giving/serving or volunteering at the organization to the extent that spiritual formation/discipleship is missed, questionable internship program with uncertain value and little merit, paranoid environment, unhealthy leadership structures/systems, pastoral teaching is more motivational speech centered and based on one individuals interpretation of scriptural concepts as opposed to expositional, no membership structure, questionable respect/legitimacy status from the cities and law enforcement of Maple Grove and Fridley, Minnesota, construed and misrepresented connections announced with popular/famous pastors/pro athletes/high profile figures claimed from the platform, misrepresented claims such as "largest Easter egg hunt in the history of minnesota," individuals represented as ministry and campus leaders who have no ministry, leadership or spiritual training Summary: If you are looking for a temporary church to attend or aren't sure where else to go, this is a good starting point. If you are focused on spiritual growth and depth, ethical non profit decision making, have leadership/management/ministry experience, are raising a family, or are looking for ministry/leadership training, this is not the church for you. Participation in the internship program we would consider a disservice and a poor financial decision. Advisements: This church would do well to 1) Get a 3rd party non profit financial/accounting audit 2) seek out another large church in the cities for recommendations of an impartial leadership/ministry consultant to perform a "nothing is off limits" overall leadership and ministry audit 3) limit the information/content they borrow from other churches and pastors, as that information may be under copyright and is likely being misused 4) construct an elder board of 5 church attendees for legal, voting and accountability purposes 5) Save money on advertised promotions/"sermon illustrations" distributed to all attendees such as free trial sized my pillows, holy water vials, styrofoam lunch trays, Joel Osteen books, free real Christmas trees during the holidays and apply these funds to hiring trained and educated staff and donations to causes and organizations around the twin cities for even more/maximum outreach Conclusion: this church is a good idea but execution of these ideas is poor and may lead to bigger issues down the road read more

I Love Passion Church and attend mostly the Maple Grove location. I have never seen a church in the twin cities where people are literally rushing across the parking lot to get to church. It's full of young and old leadership serving the Lord with gladness. Pastor Johnathan and Joann are very passionate about touching lives, praying for the people and teaching the truth through the Word of God. As Pastors, they don't miss a beat, when it comes to the children of God. Yes everyone does have a chance to belong and to serve. Best sermons, keeps you right there, in the moment. You can fill the energy in the room. If you can't find a way there, then watch the sermons on the web. I understand more now then what I had been taught in 30 year. I have never felt like I could hear God talking or feel him near me. My boss sent me their link a couple of weeks ago, I now listen every day, even though I am repeating sermon I get pumped up and learn something great each time. Creative church is amazing! Especially for my family. Young people are not expected to be perfect and are taught the truth of the Bible. Not following everything that the world says is true and the latest social outrage. Where else can you go and have the truth of God's word spoken to your kids of all ages? Beautiful new building with the most incredible worship team! This church really prioritizes the next generation with their teen and kid's ministry! They also have an amazing program called Cell Phone Safety that teaches kids how to use their cell phones safely before they get them! Just awesome! read more
