This past Thursday night was my first time attending a class here. My girlfriend and I were the…read morefirst ones there...good thing too! We got to know Owen a little bit before others started to show up and got the feel of the place before starting. Overall, it was a lot of fun and Owen is an amazing instructor. Not to mention he is super funny. I will be back for sure and looking forward to it although I have no talent and can't paint. So...if someone says they have two left feet and can't dance...can I say I have two left hands and can't paint? Trying to find an excuse here! So why go if I have no talent, can't paint, or whatever? Answer: If you've done it before then you understand...it's just a fun social time. If you haven't done it, then I highly recommend to rip off that Band-Aid (for the lack of a better term) and just do it!!! It's so much fun and some folks may be surprised at what talent does lurk in inside! Please contact them for hours. Hours vary according to the party. In addition to a party time, they are open slightly before for check in. Plus, they are open after the party is technically over for those folks that want to finish and/or fix things on their painting. I need to give a shout out and tip my hat to Owen. Unfortunately, there was a horrible family attending the evening that we attended. It could have been really off-putting to a new customer and had the potential to really turn bad. One child in attendance was beyond rude, quite cruel, and even threatening at times. Words can't describe this child and his adults did nothing. I've never experienced anything like it. Everyone else in the room kept gasping every time this kid opened his mouth. All of us were in shock at the things that fell out of this kid's mouth except the adults with the child, but Owen kept his cool. Some ladies tried to say things jokingly/lightly to get the kid to stop, but he wouldn't. We all felt uncomfortable at times. If anyone, be it Owen as the instructor or another customer, would have literally confronted the situation I feel it would have gotten really, really nasty from the vibe in the room and it would have escalated quickly into something out of control. But Owen...he kept his cool, let things roll off as best as he could although he was visibly shaken at times. He found a way to make us laugh and keep our minds off this kid...or try to. This behavior was so completely uncalled for and Owen didn't deserve it. But WOW...I have to hand it to Owen...he was a total professional. I'm still in shock at the lack of response from the adults with this kid since they just stayed quiet...incredibly quiet. Owen...I don't know how you did it...but you're Awesome!

I just discovered this awesome gallery. Paul, the owner, is just awesome and I met some great…read moreartists today while dropping off some books for National Poetry Month. I'll tell you about Jolan Gamblin, Jill Hunter and Gail Husveth first. They are great. I took their picture (which is with my review). They told me about how great it is to be a part of the Gallery and also hooked me up with another multi-media art group where I can pursue more with my art skills (yeah!) excited! What a great place! They have beautiful paintings, sculptures, and a variety of other things like jewelry and beautiful stained glass window decorations. I bought a beautiful one for myself. The shop is right next to the St Augustine pier so it's right on the beach! Awesome! What a great place to just stop by when you are at the farmer's market or getting some tan-on while enjoying the beach. You can park in the pier parking lot and look for them right next to the pavilion on the north side. A little touch and go to find, but they are tucked in right next to the water. If you really can't find them just look for the fire trucks on the street just north of the pier parking lot, follow that side road to the end, take a right and you are at the gallery. But there isn't really much parking there, so try and get a spot in the big lot. But the gallery is definitely worth the work. There is street parking or on one of the side streets and walk in. The scene is great, so it's all good. I am an Ancient City Poet and we are placing our books at the gallery for April National Poetry Month. My new book, "A While Away" is going to be there during April. Come by and check it out! They are a numbered, limited edition run of 100 and once they are gone, they're gone. It has colored photos of my artwork, photography and, of course, my poetry.

Unless you're looking for some nice quiet beach time and to catch a tan, Flagler Beach isn't the…read moremost exciting beach hot spot on the east coast of Florida. Fortunately for us, all we wanted was a quiet therapuetic beach getaway so that we could get our tan on. We got half the deal, but sadly it rained for a good part of our get away. So what to do when it rains? Call Down to Earth and make an appointment to spend some time with Heather. If you get a her voice-mail, she is quick to respond. Make an appointment even if it's not raining! You can build in an hour of your time to do something very worthwhile! Her pottery studio is right by Break Awayz (read my review and go there too!) It's small and parking is across the street on the beach side. I already liked her studio when I walked in and heard country tunes playing on her Bluetooth. She was very patient with my 3 girls and was attentive when each one needed help with a particular skill. Even my 4 year old was able to independently navigate the potter's wheel after Heather guided her and gave her thorough instructions. (The step by step instructions are also listed on a board if you forget. ) The girls half way finished bowls looked worthy enough of Pottery Barn dishware. They have yet to glaze them, but I know they'll turn out beautiful. Not only do we get to walk away with lovely art work, but my girls enjoyed a rainy afternoon together as well. Trust me. Spending a little time here and then heading over next door for a hearty oatmeal stout and poke nachos, will be just as therapeutic as your time laying on the beach.

I would just like to say that unless you're an ace or become one, this place is not for you and not…read moreworth your time and money. The level of understanding that not everyone has an innate sense of what great Pottery looks like, and maybe needs more time to work on skills is lacking.

Furthermore, the decoupage paper that was attached was glued or attached sloppily over the board and hung off the edges on both sides. The furniture is fabulous! They have a great selection of paints, stencils, handles, knobs and pulls and more for furniture makeovers. They also have plenty of art throughout the shop. Resin art and mixed media were plentiful and they teach classes on various mediums. My friend wants lessons on resin art. I picked up a whimsical pull for a piece of furniture at home- the knob had broken off a few months ago, so I was so happy to replace it with something fun and my style. Tiff grabbed a couple of Christmas gifts and a schedule for classes. On the furniture side, I was very interested in a couple of pieces, but there weren't price tags and I wondered if they were more for those doing classes or if they were sold outright. The studio set everything up for our chosen projects (soooo many choices!) prior to our arrival and we set up everything for the birthday girl's celebration! There was plenty of space for each of us to spread out and still be comfortable while creating our masterpieces. The staff was so patient & extremely helpful to those of us who aren't very 'crafty!' They ensured all of our creations turned out perfect (or perfectly imperfect/one of a kind!) So when I came across this place I thought it would be perfect for him! It was my husband, my 76 year old father, and me. We each picked VERY different projects. We were place at a table with another group of two. The person that was assigned to our table to help us was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and patient with us while we were all overwhelmed with the endless options. I love how customizable everything is, wow. And it's nice because if you start picking weird things/colors then your table assistant will let you know. We all had a blast and even my dad learned some new techniques to bring home to his wood working. We all love our projects and I'm definitely ready to go back! 10/10 would recommend!
