I had never heard of this place until my nephew had a birthday party here. It sounded kind of like it would be boring, but it was so much fun! The kids all were given a specific project to build in small groups. One of the most popular one was a suspended track that was built out of nothing but Legos. Once the track was built each child was given a car and they spent a good amount of time racing the cars down the track. The party was hosted by two employees and they basically took care of everything. They entertained the kids with games, cut and handed out the cake and cleaned up afterwards. Speaking of the cake...it's not included in any of the party packages so you have to bring that in yourself in addition to all of the paper products and drinks. They also sell lots of Lego products for boys and girls. It was fun and I'd consider having a birthday party here in the future for my own kiddies.

My little one is a non stop chatter box after each Bricks experience. The classes are reasonable and worth every penny at 20.00 for an hour of fun packed Lego loving and learning. The day camp is $35 per day for 3 hours and my boy was over the moon! I witnessed a mother carrying a child out crying yesterday. A def compliment to Bricks, he simply just didn't want to leave. This site is equipped for all Lego ages, from beginning Duplo maniacs to the oh so experienced hard core Maniacs. While I had high hopes for the experience, unfortunately, our time with the camp was overwhelmingly negative and left me with serious concerns about the safety, attentiveness, and communication of the staff. During the second week, I arrived at aftercare to find my 5-year-old sitting shirtless at a table, completely unresponsive, with his head down. My 9-year-old was at a different table. They were the only children left, and there were two counselors present--Jill and a teenage staffer. Jill casually mentioned that my younger son didn't want to put his shirt on because he was hot and had been repeatedly asking when I was coming. But something felt off. When I reached him, I realized he was foaming at the mouth, eyes rolling back--he was having a seizure. I screamed for them to call 911, and he was rushed to the hospital. I still can't understand how a counselor could miss the signs of a 5-year-old in distress. Why wasn't I contacted when he kept asking for me? Why didn't anyone notice the seizure before I arrived? Despite this terrifying event, I allowed the kids to return the following week because I didn't want to take the experience away from them. I believed it was not the camp's fault he got sick--but a clear lapse in attentiveness. Then, another issue arose. My 9-year-old confided that while on a movie field trip, another camper threw a drink and popcorn on him and his brother. I was never notified. When I brought this up with Jill the next morning, she acknowledged it happened, but I was extremely upset that no one thought to inform me. Later that same day, I received a call from a staff member I had never met, asking me to pick my son up due to an "incident." When I arrived, I was told my son had hit another child and that the director and Jill decided he should not return to camp. There was no conversation, no opportunity to understand his side, and no communication from the actual camp director. This sudden decision, paired with the timing, felt more like retaliation than genuine concern--especially considering how I had challenged their communication that same morning. My son has no history of behavioral issues--he was awarded a "Good Citizen" award just last school year. To be abruptly dismissed without any real discussion was both hurtful and unprofessional. While I did receive a refund for the remaining week, the emotional impact and disappointment linger. From a lack of supervision during a medical emergency to poor communication and questionable disciplinary decisions, my experience with Kidcam Slidell left me with more worry than trust. I hope this review encourages the leadership to take a deeper look at how children are supervised and how parents are communicated with. Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard--and unfortunately, mine did not. Jill is sensitive and unprofessional.

Then one day I heard a gal taking at an Art Versus event that she would be opening an art studio and gallery in Thibodaux. It took me awhile to search it out. Then in April of this year I visited Stephanie Donaldson's space after an art walk in downtown Thibodaux. The Purple Penguin offers both classes for the young and young at heart (adults), as well as open studio time or a space to hang or display your art for sale. Stephanie and her staff offer group or private art classes, Corks and Brushes painting, paint your own pottery, hand building and wheel throwing ceramics, mosaic stained glass projects, raku, glass fusing and crafty projects. They also host Birthday parties, Bridal and Baby showers, Date nights (yep drop off your kids and they'll feed them, create with them, so you can sneak off for a few hours), Ghost nights (channel your Demi Moore/Patrick Swayze with this hot and heavy throwing night), Kids camps and more. As an artist i am always looking for new ways to bring my creative dreams to fruition. In California, I love working in ceramics and when I moved here I tried to find someplace that I could buy Kiln time. I searched high and low and eventually gave up. After discussing my needs with Stephanie, she explained that she offers several options to outside artists that allow them to work in the studio or in the comfort of their own studio and bring work in to have it fired. I at least had met my angel and was welcomed into heaven.....This is a great place to get your creative ya-ya's out......

They got karate lessons from David Vincent, went on fun field trips: Young Chef's Academy, Jazzercise studio, New Orleans Aquarium - and were transported in luxurious charter buses. The camp took place was at Jefferson United Methodist Church, which has ample space for all the campers and a beautiful playground for them to play on. The director, Ms. Sarah, had fun projects for the to work on lead by camp counselors. She received two camp t-shirts and we even to to attend a talent show put on by the group at the end of each week. She met new friends and made some unforgettable memories! The camp was so well-organized and the kids were entertained all day. They also encouraged the kids to be reading this summer by providing fun incentives. I did not have these fun summer camps to attend as a child, so I was so thrilled to get her into a variety of camps this summer. This was the first time she did Kids-Possible and she is already asking to do it again next year. Check their website: http://kid-possible.com/ for a schedule of their camps and get them involved! I am a huge advocate of keeping kids busy and active. Sitting, playing video games and watching TV all summer gets them nowhere! So, major hi-fives to the Kid-Possible team for all their hard work and hosting a fabulous camp! It was very affordable for a week-long. You even have the option of paying for the whole summer. The kids just bring their lunch and be ready to have a superb time!

The owner, Juerica, is extremely unprofessional. Her character and conduct are highly questionable. She over-promises and under-delivers to prospective parents. One of her selling points is the presence of accessible cameras for parents to monitor their kids. However, the cameras were never installed during the three weeks my son was enrolled. When asked about the cameras, she would come up with excuses like HIPAA, which doesn't even apply in this setting. It seems like she tries to sound knowledgeable by using certain buzzwords. Ms. Juerica also promised and allegedly registered for an app to communicate with parents about their child's day, but that never materialized. She never provided any documents on my son's formula intake, bowel movements, sleeping patterns, or disposition. Often, she wouldn't share this information at the end of the day. At one point, she even displayed an attitude because I refused to disclose a private conversation with another parent. It was unprofessional for her to inquire about our conversation. I decided to remove my son from the daycare at the end of August after that incident. In addition to her unfulfilled promises, she lacks an understanding of personal and professional boundaries. She found it acceptable to discuss other children and families with me. Her mother, who also works at the daycare, displays the same lack of professionalism. They had issues with another family and misrepresented the number of enrolled children to me. It turned out that it was only my son and one other child at the beginning, despite Ms. Juerica's claims of limited spots. The final incident that led to my immediate withdrawal of my son was when her mother made a derogatory comment about another child's parent, who is South Asian. This display of prejudice and lack of emotional intelligence was unacceptable to me as a parent. When I confronted Ms. Juerica about her unprofessional conduct, she did not respond or offer an apology. Additionally, she has not refunded me for the rest of August's tuition or for logo embroidery of onesies that were never done, nor has she allowed me to pick up my son's belongings. It's disheartening because as a parent, you trust caregivers like Ms. Juerica to not only care for your child but also to act professionally and with decency. I hope this review helps other parents avoid the stress I experienced in finding quality childcare.
