One of the worst experiences I had to deal with. My wife was pregnant with our fifth child and was having high blood pressure issues. These screw ups by Credit Union 1 I am sure did not help with the high blood pressure, unneeded extra stress. Would not recommend getting a home loan through them ever. If you get Patrick Tyler, Sr. Loan Officer run. I was told he has been doing this job for over thirty years and we had so many issues with him. The loan was in my wife's name. She was pre-approved for a home loan by Patrick Tyler, then she received a call one Friday night stating he messed up and she was not approved. We had to pay off over thirty thousand dollars' worth of debt before she could be pre-approved again. The best part was she just received a decent raise but even with the raise she still would not have been able to be pre-approved. He royal messed up. Then my wife was pre-approved again for a home loan. The reason we went with them was because we signed paperwork stating she would receive a grant for over six thousand dollars, well that did not happen either. The day of the closing (11-15-2018) that neither my wife set up or I set up but we got everything ready: home insurance, utilities switched over, and we had a whole bunch of people lined up to help us move. Well, since they screwed up once again and did not make sure everything was ready to go we were unable to close until 11-26-2018. Did they offer anything to us for the inconvenience for their incompetence, no, but they did offer the seller $480.00 for his troubles of not closing on 11-15-2018. Makes perfect sense, the people that actually are trying to get a loan from you and have had a checking and savings account with you for years do not get anything for their troubles. Bad Business practice there. They screwed up once again, my wife is now getting a grant for under two thousand dollars. That is over four thousand dollars that Credit Union 1 screwed us over. Plus, now we have to stay at our apartment longer because of their incompetence. So, in reality, they have cost us probably over five thousand dollars but they showed us that they did not care about that at all. When we finally closed on the house, we had to sign the papers, then wait over three hours for Credit Union 1 to finally send the money, then we finally received the keys to the house. I am not happy with Credit Union 1 and I will be switching our checking and saving accounts hopefully to a new bank as soon as possible. This experience showed me how unprofessional Credit Union 1's loan officer, Tyler Patrick, actions are. I would not recommend getting a home loan through Credit Union 1. It is not worth all the hassle, go somewhere else for a home loan. read more

I have accounts at other credit unions including CEFCU but find my experience at Credit Union 1 is hands down more customer service oriented. Timothy Kane is a Senior Teller at NMLS# 1321661 branch located on College street in Springfield, IL and from the very beginning of my relationship with this branch has made it a point to not just remember me but to remember my name.
