Ted Carlson Dog Training

Ted Carlson Dog Training

Although Ted Carlson is probably a fine dog trainer, I cannot attest to his skills because my dog…read moredied while she was at his board and train program on Christmas day 2019. The vet decided that her death appeared to be caused by aspiration of her vomit. Ted did take her to the emergency vet in the morning. If you choose to do a board and train program please do the following: -physically see where your dog will be staying and ask how many hours a day the dog will be in the crate (specifically weekends and holidays). -ask how often you will receive updates -if you can avoid boarding your dog for an extended time, please do. You will never forgive yourself if something happens to them while they are there, trust me.

Ted is an absolute all star. I'm a member of the Louisiana Task Force 1 Search and Rescue Canine…read moreTeam and he is the guy we call when our dogs need help. Ted is the most professional dog trainer I have ever worked with, and this professionalism is conveyed not only through his behavior towards you, but also towards your dog. He doesn't believe in one method of training, just like diets, there is no magic bullet. He balances all sides of the positive/negative punishment/reward spectrum in an effort to provide you (and your dog) a perfectly balanced training experience. He believes in the mental health of dogs as much as the physical health and recognizes that most bad behaviors come from dogs being anxious or otherwise uncomfortable with their surroundings. Ted has been an godsend to myself, my dog, and many of the other dogs on our SAR team. He is easily reachable by email, phone or text and willing to answer even the most trivial questions. He comes to you (even if you live on the south shore), and makes sure that you get every ounce of value out of your time with him. So long as I am in New Orleans I will never use another trainer.

I cannot say enough great things about Erin and her wonderful business. As a former vet tech, when…read moreyou leave your pets in Erin's very capable hands, you will literally get a peace of mind! Erin is just absolutely great with all animals- big or small. She gives each and every one of them the love and attention they need and deserve. And as an animal lover, I couldn't be happier with her services. Now, Peace of Mind Pet Sitting is the first place I recommend to friends and family whenever they ask about a good quality pet sitter.

We were looking for an alternative to boarding our large, active, hairy, pooping, peeing machine…read more I stumbled across a business card for Peace of Mind Pet Sitting at the local pet store. Peace of Mind is bonded and insured. Ms. Creel is the proprietor and a Registered Veterinary Technician. She offers a couple of levels of service, visiting the house as needed or even sleeping over to care for pets. Ms. Creel met us at the house. She provide references and proof of insurance. We worked through a checklist of the dog's needs and habits. She then spent time with the dog. We agreed on a twice a day schedule to visit the house which included a substantial walk every evening. She also agreed to pick up the newspaper, mail and water a few plants. While we were away, Ms. Creel took great care of our shedding monster. She texted us regularly with updates, and left a running series of notes on how the day went. We have used Ms. Creel 3X in the past year and hope to continue using her. It is about twice the cost of boarding the dog which is well worth the peace of mind (no pun intended). I strongly recommend Peace of Mind and Ms. Creel. The email address is nolapetsitter@hotmail.com.

They wouldn't give me a full refund due to the fact that he came twice…read moreMind you the first time is just to meet the dog The second time he basically just did everything with her that I had trained her to do and said oh this is going to be easy. And then never showed back up. So basically, they charged me $500 for my dog to meet a stranger. I definitely would not recommend this training facility. They steal your money and then never show up at your house.

Definitely feels like I got scammed for their lifetime training service. To start, they said they…read morehad hundreds of trainers in my area but once I signed up, there was only 2. I was tols the trainers would work around my schedule, also false. They give you times & days they can show. I have a very specific thing I'd like my dog trained out of ( not the normal stuff you'd see in most dogs) and was told that wouldn't be an issue, but since having them, the trainer just doesn't seem to be that advanced. She is a nice lady and all but not the training I was looking for. Their prices are what mainly get you, for $1400/life compared to $2000+ for a course seems worth it, but it isn't. They only give 1hr sessions twice a week but your the one mainly doing all the work. I was under the impression (as they made it seem) that they would work solely with the dog, become aware of the issue and correct it and then slowly give you the lead on correcting it, 100% NOT the case. My dog had become extremely attached to my ex-girlfriend while we were together, and even after 1yr later, he has completely shutdown on going for walks and some other activities. Things he was never scared of before, scare him now. The trainer they have assigned to me is taking an approach like a normal case of fear but almost nothing is working. The worst part is that you can't cancel & get a refund. If you try to cancel, they switch your lifetime over to individual pricing and charge you per session, which is like $200ea making it far more costly then just keeping the lifetime service. The trainer should be able to come get your dog and be them 2 without you to learn the difficulty of what is happeningz figure out a solution, begin to train them out of it and then proceed to teach you what they are doing. Instead the trainer has you do most of the stuff but in my case, is not 100% what is going on. My dog use to be extremely confident in anything and loved walks no matter what, but now the sllightest popping noise to rain, he doesn't want to walk. I brought up its broken heart syndrome but they & other trainers I've spoken to don't believe it is. He is most of the time confident in going to the dog park but thats about it. I've tried all the normal things on my own but nothing goes through to walking. I'm at a loss on both quality of life with my dog and money from paying dog academy. I have 2 other dogs that do NOT show this behavior what so ever and they are also loosing quality of life by not being able to go on walks because my 1 just shuts down. I seriously need help
