On our return from Time Square one night, one of our group members noticed that her hotel room door was ajar and the family member who she had left there was not in the room. She is a senior and we were worried. The hotel front desk staff and front desk manager was of no help to us and frankly did not seem to care. My sister then called the Ft. Lee Police Depart where Officer Pickens and Sargent Lee were dispatched. These two police officers were later joined by a few other officers, but Pickens and Lee showed concern, compassion and empathy; they really stood out. Their level of professionalism the moment they walked in the hotel doors was very admirable. Officer Pickens was very deliberate in explaining exactly what their initial search would involve. Thank God we eventually found out that our family had fallen ill in the hotel and had taken a taxi or Uber to the nearby hospital. Unbeknown to her, her WIFI was not activated so her messages to us of her situation did not transmit in a timely fashion. Kudos to Pickens and Lee. God bless you both.

This precinct is horrible all the white shirt did was run his mouth I came to file a report and…read morewaited an insane amount of time without no acknowledgement there was 3 officers and a white shirt just talking crap we asked for help and they just said we have to wait. There is only one precinct no PSA in the neighborhood. As a civilian I felt slighted and ignored and slighted by the people who took an oath to help the citizens of the community. The fact that there was only one officer for the front, that was in the back for over an hour with someone who a detective came to talk to is insanity. It was annoying and fustrated to have to just stand around waiting to be assisted with no emphaty just didn't sit right. It took so much self control to not curse them out. This precinct should be investigated and they should be more than one officer to assist the front when people come in especially if the one officer is going to be spending an substantial amount of time with a person

I am so grateful for him and couldn't thank him enough. Been living in this town for a decade and one officer does over and beyond.. i forgot his name but i heard he used to be a teacher. his really does his best!!!! On the other hand i did have one guys follow me to my house and treated me like a felon in my own drive way... given the robbery issue around town last year i guess it's better to have diligent policy then not. It takes all kind of people i guess but over all this is a good department in my experience.

I had to get some fingerprint cards filled out for a background check for a job. I went later that…read moreday; they told me the person who does fingerprints wasn't there. There was absolutely nothing going on, from what I could see. I doubt the person wasn't there. I came back the next day during the time they said the person would be there. Again, nothing going on. I waited about 20 minutes for someone to come down and do something that took about 5 min. I will say, people were helpful when I came in and asked me what I needed, and they did call the person who did the fingerprint cards within 5-10 minutes of me arriving. I'll give NYPD the benefit of the doubt and assume there was more going on behind closed doors than I could see; otherwise, I would have to say things looked and operated needlessly slow.

I took my pit/Bullmastiff to a site of…read moreloud music (the only reason I call and am often ignored) and the very kind officers (gently) chastised me for going to the scene with an "intimidating" dog prior to their arrival. We had a convivial exchange that their 'arrival" could be 30 seconds to 8 hours; hence why I felt the need to be pro active. I explained to them the aspect of babies/toddlers in very scary scenarios and they seemed to relate yet were persistent in saying my community involvement was complicating and possibly intimidating. I didn't bother to voice that I am 5'1 and 115 lbs and the "party" included quite dramatic characters who threatened to shoot my dog. However, may I praise myself/my dog for staying until reality kicked in? I think the renter nearly sh$t his pants upon seeing my 100 lb dog at his doorstep. We had a standoff until the police arrived and I left (back to being chastised) and the music stopped. I'm "upping" my stars because the police officer seemed to genuinely want attendance at the Community Affairs Meeting. I will attend the next one and hope we can build a better relationship. Just as an FYI: I never call 311 or 911 over pot or drugs. All I want is a civil weekend. I believe you can have fun and notkeep your neighbors up 'till 5 am.
