We have been with Crestwood Pediatrics for a little over 3 years, and have overall had nothing but positive experiences. Their hours are very convenient having late hours 4 days out of the week. I love having the option to bring my kids in to be seen without having to miss time from work to do so. Dr. Abbott is phenomenal. She's very straight to the point, and makes sure to cross all her t's and dot all her i's, which I appreciate. She is blunt, but not cold and maintains good bedside behavior. Dr. Bradford and Dr. Patel are equally good and I always feel they are caring and knoledgable about the decisions they are making as well. From what I understand, Dr. Harnum is no longer with the practice, which is a blessing for them in my opinion. She was very cold, rude, and always condecending. We have always had pleasent experiences with Crestwood up until the last 3 or 4 visits we've had. The wait times have been increasingly getting worse, waiting on average 45 minutes to an hour to be seen by the doctor. Being a pediatricians office, you'd think they would understand having small children who often don't feel well waiting in a confined space for an extended period of time is not fun. I really like the option to leave messages on the nurse line and have always heard back within a timely manor (usually no more than 30 minutes). Yesterday, I had what I thought could be an urgent situation with my daughter and wasn't sure if I needed to bring her to the office or possibly urgent care. They had me leave a message on the nurse line and it was over 4 hours later that they returned the call, apologizing for the delay and asking for her to be brought in. By that time, we had already resolved the issue and no longer needed to be seen. The nurse made me feel as if I was in the wrong for not wanting to bring her in. I got another call this morning from a nurse again asking me to bring her in as a follow up, and when I denied (because I can't leave work), they again made me feel as if I was neglecting my child for not bringing her in. This isn't the first time that I've gotten the guilt-trip condensending responses from the nurses there for not being able to bring my children in when they've wanted to see them. Like I said, in the past I've had no issues with leaving messages on the nurse line, so I'm not sure what happened or why it took 4+ hours to hear back from them this time. Very concerning as a parent who relies on their childrens doctors office to be able to answer questions and guide them in the right direction when they are worried about their childs well-being. I'm really hoping they quickly get out of this "funk" they've been in and can go back to having great service like we have become accustomed to over the last 3+ years. read more

I wish a could give a negative or no star, but the system does not allow for it. The front desk medical office staff in Manassas are the most unprofessional group of personnel I have ever had to deal with. We have been with Crestwood Pediatric Care since last summer, and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Abbott. She is absolutely the best! But unfortunately, her front office staff are confrontational, rude, obnoxious, and down right unprofessional. The last episode involved trying to get our 4 year old daughter to get in, to be looked at, because she was having a sensitive stomach. We kept trying since last week, and they keep saying, we can't make an appointment, and to keep calling first thing in the morning. We have done this now for a week, and every time, they say no spots available to see a doctor but we can come in to see a nurse... a nurse! When we ask for a doctor's appointment, they rudely say a nurse is available, but not a doctor, and to call back tomorrow morning, again. Their front desk staff are very proficient in raising their voices and speaking over you, but in being descent and professional, don't hold your breath. Again, Dr. Abbott there, is sensational and the only reason we put up with their nasty front office staff in the first place. But it's simply not worth the aggravation and frustration you will encounter with their rude and unprofessional staff. Find yourself a medical office for your little one, that still believes in being descent and professional with their clients and customers. P.S. - If you still feel you'd like to take a chance and have your little one go to their Manassas office, just get yourself prepared for some harsh and unpleasant treatment. read more

My son had an appointment that I had to reschedule. I'm sick with the flu and I didn't want to go into a doctor's office and risk infecting anyone else. So I called the office to reschedule my son's appointment for when I'll feel better. Instead of being understanding, the person on the phone caught an attitude and discharged my son, saying "There's going to be no more appointments. We're discharging him and you can find another pediatrician." Any time I call them for anything, I get nothing but attitude. I'm pulling my daughter from here, as well. All they care about is money here. If you can't make your appointment, they'll discharge your child because all they care about is making money. I don't recommend this pediatrician at all. read more

We just got back from Pediatric Associates of Prince William County, and unfortunately encountered a very unusual & bizarre experience. We were introduced to them by our healthcare liaison and this would have been our first visit. We initially called the number on the door to notify that we arrived for the appointment, and a gentleman by the name of Tom (very nice and courteous by the way) advised us to wait until a nurse comes out to greet us. We did just that, and saw a nurse come out thinking we would be greeted and in response the nurse named Gabby replied in a very snarky way while being very curt with me and suggested I wait in my care until I receive a call (that's fine, but I did not expect the rude engagement) We waited, which again is not a problem especially if we are following protocol. Nurse Gabby came out with a clipboard for us to fill-out the intake forms since it was going to be our first visit, and I mentioned that I didn't appreciate the rude way she acknowledged us that had just taken place. In response Gabby, the nurse, responded by saying that I needed to follow the process (which was never a concern to begin with) and that she was helping other patients, and couldnt help it if I felt offended by our initial engagement. I proceeded to say that following the process was expected and not an issue, and that my issue was with her poor customer service skills (literally using every trigger word that normally leads to an escalation in a customer service environment). We continued our back and forth, and she, Gabby, walked away without saying anything further. We (my wife, toddler, and I) continued to wait, not knowing what to expect...until a doctor came outside towards the parking lot & approached us with the clipboard that Gabby initially held. I explained the situation and why we were caught off guard by the experience we had just encountered, Dr. Puppo (I believe that's his name) proceeded to let me know that Gabby is their main nurse and that I would probably continue to have issues in the event I continued to go to their clinic. The Dr also mentioned that he would soon be retiring, which in my mind as I was hearing what was being said on top of the interaction with Gabby, the nurse...I realized at that moment that I am definitely in the wrong place, and it's not meant to be. I recently moved to the Gainesville area and used BCBS finder to find a new pediatric doctor for my son. I went to the Haymarket Crestwood location in November for his 2 month appointment and immunizations. During the visit they wanted to give him 6 shots. I asked that they only give 3 and that I'd come back in 2 weeks for the other 3. I want my son immunized, but 6 seemed excessive all at once. Since it was our first visit, the doctor said okay. This morning I went back for the other 3 shots. I was the first person in the office and 3 people came in after me. Low and behold we had to wait, while the other 3 children were being seen. Everyone could over hear them talking about my son, "oh he just needs immunizations." We get into the room and they ask me "which immunizations does he need?" I was a little taken aback, since they had my chart and should have a record of what he's there for. I gave them his immunization card so they could see what he was there for (still can't believe I had to provide the info). It only got worse from there. During the first visit the doctor found 2 lumps on the back of his head and even asked me if they had changed in size, etc. She told me they needed to be monitored and checked every time he came in. I brought it up to the nurse at the visit this morning and asked for the specific name that the doctor told me it was (because I didn't write it down when I was there the first time- lesson learned). I also asked them to check it again. I had to also ask for his vitals from the first visit because they didn't give those to me either. The nurse left the room and came back only to tell me that my son wasn't there for a wellness visit and none of the doctors could come in and see him, and that I'd need to schedule a wellness visit to be seen to discuss the lumps because as it turned out, the first doctor simply noted on his chart that it was a birth mark. OMG- a doctors office that won't look at a LUMP on my child's head that they told me to monitor. She told me that the first doctor only indicated that it was a birth mark. I responded to the nurse that was funny since the first doctor gave me an entirely different name for the lumps and not just simply a birth mark. The cake topper of the visit happened as I was walking out to the check-out window. The 2 or 3 doctors that were there this morning were sitting around chit chatting and laughing as I was walking out. But they COULDN'T take 5 minutes to look at my son's head because we weren't "scheduled." I proceeded to the check-out window and the receptionist said "see you in January for his 4 month visit." I replied, "No, I'd like to go ahead and cancel that." "Would you like to reschedule?" "No. Is there anything else you need from me?" "No." And I walked out with a pit in my stomach. Knowing that these healthcare providers wouldn't take a moment to give a new mother reassurance on something they alerted me on. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this practice to any parents. They obviously don't care for their patients. I felt so bad for my son and hoping that these lumps are not a bigger issue. Crestwood Pediatrics not only didn't have their records in order, they don't have compassion and bedside manners. You can hear information on their patients as you sit in the waiting room. This is not a place I want my son to be seen. I heard information about other children (along with their full names) that I wouldn't want to be shared with the public. This place is all around terrible and violates HIPAA privacy laws. All around fail. God forbid you have any additional questions, you'll need to schedule another appointment! read more

I'm only giving 2 stars because the front office and nurse were great, friendly and polite. This was today at the Manassas office 8/11/18. The dr was rude, unsympathetic and her arm-crossed posture let me know she didn't care for my teenage daughter. When I told her my concern, her reply was, "SO?". The billing dept always there when I have questions about my bills. I love the nurses they are always so nice and my kids love them too. Their appointments always run on time. I am making this post to warn other parents. My kids were all patients for years at this practice. The doctors are great. However, I was never treated so rudely and disrespected from a place of business so much in my life. A simple request of my child's record resulting in blatant disrespect, no customer service and rudeness beyond comprehension. Being a patient for years or a day meant nothing to those folks. These ppl were even rude to the nurse that tried to call for a fax. Just nasty. The staff at this place has such a lack of professionalism that it makes the good doctors npt worth seeing. We have been with Crestwood for 9 years and their service has steadily declined. We first ran into an issue where we charged an additional $30 on top of our co-pays due to them being affiliated to som membership group that nobody could actually explain to me and was said it was based on our plan level with our insurance but there was no upfront communication given. I then chose the high plan the following year to avoid this and we are still getting charged additional fees. Their follow through and communication is non existent, we dropped of forms for our son for his sport physical for school and only after we called them three days later to find out if the forms were ready, they shared that he needs to come in for another "COVID recheck" since they saw he recently had COVID! If we didn't call, who knows when we would have received the information. If you like paying extra for no reason and not receiving any urgent/pertinent information, choose Crestwood!! read more

My kids have been going to Crestwood Pediatrics since day one. That would be over 24 years now. They are professional efficient and offer very convenient hours. Crestwood also does everything they can to help with issues or procedures you confront with health insurance. They do what they can to process referrals over the phone and always follow up to make sure the refereed practice received the proper paperwork for medical and billing purposes. My grown kids still go to Crestwood Pediatrics. Obviously, I am not the only one impressed by these folks. read more

If you are looking for quick service, no problem. They were always great about getting an appointment as soon as possible. However, what good is the appt if you feel rushed or lack of concern by the nurse. I realize that they "see" these things (illnesses, coughs, diseases) everyday, BUT, for some of us this is new. (and this is OUR child). I have accepted they they missed important family info that would have been useful to help treat my son last year. But, now? To have a Lab Nurse (?) call to say "your child's Blood work is (+) for something,go pick meds and a dr will call you tomorrow? " I personally find that very disturbing!!! We have been with Crestwood since our first child was born in 2012. We also have a child with disabilities and health issues. We have relied heavily on the expertise of the doctors and efficiency of the office staff who have helped us with countless matters. We have always gotten in when needed and questions answered in a timely manner. We feel our children are truly cared about by all, and the doctors are true advocates of our children and their well being. The staff's follow through and follow up regarding health matters is impressive. We rely on the medical advice we receive over the phone and in person on a regular basis and wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Abbott has been our pediatrician for seven years and we have always been very pleased with her practice and staff. I noted other comments regarding peoples' dislike of their "push for vaccines". Thank goodness they do because of the resurgence of measles, mumps, whooping cough and whatever else that was nearly eradicated that is now making its comeback thanks to the anti-vaxx people. We have been going to the Haymarket office for several years now. Never had any issue, always able to get a sick visit the same day. We haven't had any major health issues, just your standard ear infections, pink eye, strep and everyone has always been nice.Never too long of a wait. My first couple of experiences with this office were great. I was able to meet with the head pediatrician prior to giving birth. I chose this office because of their lactation consultant on staff and I assumed that would be helpful since I planned on exclusively breastfeeding my baby. Once my daughter was born in February of this year, appointments were easily scheduled. The receptionists and other doctors were friendly. I didn't have to wait long to be seen. However, after my baby's 4 month wellness check-up I will not be returning to the office. My baby is large baby, she was born at 8lbs 10oz/ 21.75in long, didn't loose weight while she was in the hospital and was 15.5lbs/24.6in long at her 2 month appointment. She is fed expressed breast milk during the day while I am at work and breast-fed on demand when i return home in the evenings. I was told by a staff doctor that based on her growth pattern, she is off the normal charts and she was on track to be obese by the time she was 3 years old and I quote "she's too pretty to be obese". They recommended that I stop breast feeding on demand and limit feedings at night. I disagree with their advice on three principles: 1. Based on the World Health Organization charts (the charts now recommended for use by the American Academy of Pediatrics instead of the CDC charts) she is within the normal growth pattern when comparing her weight vs height. She is off the chart for her age vs weight and her age vs length...but she's been charting like that since she was 1 month old and the office didn't deem it a problem until now. 2. Plenty of studies have shown that breastfeeding a child reduces childhood obesity. 3. Studies have also shown that breastfed babies gain lots of weight early and then taper off with their growth after 6 months when babies tend to become more mobile. Shouldn't she have been re-evaluated at 6 months before offering advice for a restricted diet? When we called the office to speak with the head pediatrician she claimed that she couldn't disagree with the doctor we had seen because she hadn't seen our daughter herself, based on her growth charts she recommended the same. I understand that she may be specialized in childhood obesity, but any doctor that recommends putting a breast-fed 4 month-old infant on basically a diet isn't someone I want caring for my child. I chose this office because I thought they would be knowledgable about breast-feeding, however this doesn't seem to be the case. read more

We chose Dr. Patel to be our little ones pediatrician, before they were born. She was very friendly on our initial visit, she answered all of our questions, which we had a ton of. She came to hospital after our baby was born, and was not friendly at all, then failed to tell us she had a heart murmur. We didn't find out she had a heart murmur until her 2 month check up. She said oh her heart murmur is getting worse. I looked at my husband and said heart murmur, what do you mean heart murmur?! She was like oh it's not a huge deal most babies have them, but she was born with one. I said that would have been nice to know, in the hospital. So, we then decided to see Dr.Abbott instead. She was nice enough, but when she asked how often I was giving my child protein, I said yes but not every day, because we just started giving baby food, this was at 6 months. She said I told you to start solids at 4 months. Well, I didn't start solids at 4 months, because I was breastfeeding, and my baby wasn't interested in food until around 6 months. Then we filled out a questionnaire they give you every visit, and it asked if we used a walker, I checked yes. Dr. Abbott about chastised us for using a walker. I just told her she was my child I keep an eye on her, and we have gates up. Asked if we went to the follow up appointment with cardiologist, she said her heart sounds fine, we said yes the cardiologist didn't hear or see any murmur or hole. She then proceeded to tell me her heart murmur came back at her 9month check up. Really?! I don't think so, we just got an all clear from the cardiologist, who actually did a sonogram, and ultrasound of her heart. So a few months go by, our baby gets a cold, and is trying to cut 4 molars. Well, my husband started to listen to her breathing, and it sounded like she had a rattle in her lungs, so we got a last minute appointment with Dr. Harnum. We proceeded to take her back, and the doctor had broken her foot, so the office was pretty tight I sat on the table with my baby, and the doctor acted as though she was put out, already. She listened to her chest and said it was in her throat. My husband questioned her, and she said well it's going to sound like it's in her chest, because she's small. I said so like a pug dog. She said yes. She proceeded to tell us it was a cold brought on by her cutting her molars, she should be fine in a couple of days, and that we just do what we do when she gets a cold. I said humidifier, nose spray, sucking her boogers, and I put vapor rub on her chest. She about had a cow, when I said vapor rub, she said do not use that it can burn her skin, I said well I use that Zarbees stuff. She sighed heavily rolled her eyes and proceeded to tell us, you can leave now. I wasn't even finished asking questions. Well, my baby got worse, it was in her chest after all, turns out she had Bronchitis, and RSV. We took her to another doctor recommended to us, by a friend. She took one listen and said this baby had bronchitis. They tested her for RSV, and sure enough she had that too. I'm extremely upset about the whole issue. We will never recommended these pediatricians to anyone. I love our new pediatrician Dr. Nair, she is AMAZING!!! read more

Our 7-month old son started pulling on his ear on Wednesday, we thought, okay, no problem we have an appointment for a well visit and shots on Thursday. We got there Thursday, and they would not even look at his ear, they said they can't have a well visit and a sick visit on the same day, and we'd have to make another appointment for that. Seriously, you won't even pull out an otoscope and look in his ear? That's strike three. We're getting a new doctor. Strike one was the "follow up" appointment after he went to the ER for pneumonia. We had to "follow up" with our pediatrician. All she did was look at his prescription and say it was the correct dosage. Really? The doctor from the ER prescribed the correct dosage and the pharmacist verified the correct dosage...so I had to take off work so you could look at the prescription and charge me the copay to do nothing but look at the dosage. Strike two... they wanted a follow up to that appointment. We're looking for a new pediatrician now. We're seriously regretting switching from Kaiser during our insurance sign-up. read more
