My wife forgot her corset while we were out of town so we found this gem and were very happy we stopped in. The Good: They have a lot of options for all kinds of wonderful dresses and masks - not our thing to wear but beautiful craftsmanship to look at and appreciate... The Bad: This place also does not have free pizza while we shop around. I am.determined to find a place. Kidding aside, the only downside I would think is that they know they have a monopoly in the area and the prices show it. The Ugly Truth: The selection of corsets is nice and the staff was very helpful in finding just the right one for my wife. She tried several of them on and found one that fit her needs. I would love to say we'll be back but we're not in Denver that often to stop in. A real positive is that the staff is eager to help and makes you feel very welcome. The downside is the pricing, but Denver is a more expensive city then most in this part of the country anyway so I understand. read more

Went shopping for Renaissance Faire outfits for 12 people and I was going to do business with The Crimson Rose for a film. They should have just put a sign on their store front saying "No Blacks!" because that is what I felt as soon as I walked in. I had to speak first. I was assisted, very shortly by a woman who immediately walked away when I asked a question about the hats. Then both ignored me and turned their backs on me as I was talking to them before I was finally fed up and left. I might over look this if it was busy but I was the only person in the small shop. I guess I should call ahead before go to a place like this to ask first if they serve my kind, Black Men. I guess we are a threat, even in a costume shop. read more

I have wanted to start tight lacing for some time now, and I am so glad I decided to take the leap to get myself professionally fitted for a corset at Masquerade. First, a little background...This is a small, local South Broadway business that has been around for quite some time. Starting out as an even smaller shop, run by a woman who creates elaborate masks for masquerade, the store quickly began selling corsets and other costume gear as their shop grew. Masquerade changed management in recent years so the lovely mask-maker could focus on her art. And boy, are her masks ART! They have a wide selection of VERY high quality costumes, perfect for galas, Renaissance fairs, festivals, and steampunk gatherings. Many of their costumes are historically accurate. Now; about the corsetry. I have been wearing costume corsets for some time now, but have always been interested in tight lacing. I did not want to start on my own in fear of doing something wrong. After discovering Masquerade via a recommendation from another local Broadway shopkeeper, I decided to visit the store. I entered into a bright, sunny room, filled with beautiful costumes and artistic masquerade masks, proudly on display in the appealing fashion they deserve. I immediately knew I would be back before I had even purchased anything, and that this shop could put a significant dent in my wallet. The woman who greeted me was kind, and highly sociable. I expressed an interest in tight lacing, and she immediately pointed me towards the many corsets they have available. After learning that I was unsure of my size or how to proceed with tight lacing, she proceeded to fit me for a corset and provide me with some extensive knowledge on tight lacing. This woman really knows what she's talking about! We tried a couple of different sizes, and it was apparent which one fit best. I am in awe of how high the quality of the corset I purchased is. The shape is perfection. I never believed that my waist could possibly ever be this small; even in a corset. I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase, and so look forward to visiting Masquerade in the future for all of my costume and corset needs. Visit them today! You will not regret it. read more

This shop is incredible. I want one of everything! The off-the-rack options are highly covetable (gorgeous AND reasonably priced--WIN!), but the real stars of the show are the handmade corsets and masks. Prepare for your jaw to hit the floor. The workmanship is stunning! I commissioned a corset from the owner, Kitty, and I LOVE how it's coming together. I never thought I'd put "corset" and "comfortable" in the same sentence, but Kitty is a freaking wizard. I can't wait to wear it around and show it off!
