I dare you not to love this little family run Banh Mi joint (once you find it, that is!) You have to be looking closely for its tiny storefront tucked away between two other businesses off South Blvd, but if you ARE lucky enough to find it (or are wise enough to check Yelp), I bet you will find it nearly impossible not to return. Quite frankly, they serve up what I believe to be the best Banh Mi in town at the incredibly low price of $4.95 (yes, $4.95!) In fact, everything on the menu, is a bargain. Also, once inside, you will be surprised to see the dining area is twice the size you'd expect. The Rice Noodle Bowl with chicken, at $7.95, was loaded with chicken breast and beautifully fresh cilantro, carrots and cucumber. The chicken breast, although a bit dry, was delicious. The rice noodles were perfectly prepared and everything artfully displayed. Not to be missed is the Deep Fried Tofu and Sea Weed appetizer (at 3 bucks!) It appeared that every table had an order delivered. By the way, they take your order at the counter, prepare everything to order and then deliver to your table fresh, hot and delicious. The wait is worth it! The Sunday that my wife and I were there on our first lunch visit, there was a continual line of customers, 90% of whom were Asian (always a good sign regarding authenticity of cuisine.) Plus the small dining area of 10 or so tables were all full. Service was friendly and sanitation score was a 95. Being sticklers for sanitation, we noticed that the food preparers conscientiously changed gloves between the food prep area and the register and did not handle their cell phones in the kitchen. Definitely the most disappointing Banh Mi I've had in charlotte. The bread is not fresh, it's very chewy and tastes almost stale. They really skimp on the meat. I got a bbq port sandwich and it only had two measly paper thin slices of pork. 75% of the sandwich is carrots. The cilantro was not fresh (wilted almost browning). Overall a bad sandwich and way overpriced. I've had way better Banh Mi in major cities like NYC or LA who charged almost half the price. And on top of that they ask you to leave a tip on the screen. I ordered the shrimp spring roll and grilled shrimp bun! I have to say both were delicious and the shrimp bun was ever bit as good as Saigon Palace just down the road. Crispy is not crispy. The sandwiches are chewy rather than crispy and the pickled veggies have a fish like taste. I got a tofu Banh mi and it was far from good. Very disappointed in the quality. It was literally thrown together all messy and fishy/disgusting. The tofu summer rolls were all lettuce, one sprig of parsley, one mint leaf, 2 pieces of tofu and the rest lettuce. I'm used to bigger sandwiches and for some reason the taste is off to me. I got the special sandwich, it's my go to and usually they do a good job. We were in the area today and had to take advantage of our trip and had to have some banh mi. We' relocated to NC from San Jose CA so we are banh mi snobs. This place has the best banh mi in NC. We ordered a dozen online and the service was free, there was no fee to order online. This restaurant offers thinly sliced meat options instead of the larger chunks I'm used to where you can see the marinated flavors on the outside skin. The fresh jalapeño slices were also intense so I had to remove them and just drizzle some sriracha for tolerable heat. Maybe thinner sliced jalapeños would be easier to eat. The location is easy to get to and service was super fast. They offer lots of drinks: smoothies, teas, juices, coffees, and then appetizers and noodle bowls too. The bread is amazing! This is the place to go if you've never tried a Banh Mi sandwich. Make sure to order no butter on the bread if you're non-dairy like me. By default they put a mix of butter and mayo on the sandwiches. I also order no onions because the menu doesn't specify but there are scallions on it. And those aren't green bell peppers, they are raw jalapeños. So if you don't want fire and fury in your mouth, skip the peppers completely. I'm very sensitive to spice so I basically order a plain sandwich, no butter with just chicken, pickled vegetables (which is carrots and white radish, very mild) and cilantro. And it's still really good. They have an assortment of coffee drinks both hot and iced. But no non-dairy creamers. And some pretty crazy drinks too with avocado and other things I'm too timid to try. But it's a fun little shop. Turnover at the tables is pretty quick. Open on Sundays but closed on Mondays. Definitely worth a try. read more

Just lacking any bold flavors and it was kind of cold, egg roll tasted a little stale. The cashier was super pleasant and personable. You order at the register and then git a number/sit. Your food is delivered to you by an employee calling out your number. Our summer rolls and banh mi came out really quickly. The noodle bowl took a little longer. Everything was really cheap! My whole order -- summer rolls, banh mi, and a Diet Coke was $10. While we enjoyed the majority of our food and our visit overall, I'm not sure they'll beat out Le's (banh mi shop in Asian Corners on North Tryon) the next time I'm in a banh mi mood. read more

I love this spot! The grilled pork bahn mi is my go to! This time I tried the passion fruit tea w/ jelly and it was amazing! Omg! I also had sweet potato fries which went well with the sandwich. They have several different types of banh mi ranging from dac biet to the sardines. I've personally never had the sardines but I definitely would recommend getting dac biet or this nuong. Those two are really good. If you were taking these to go you should get them toasted but have the veggies on the side so that way it won't be ruined when you have to heat it up again later. I want this place to be better than it is. Before Covid the service was fast and friendly the food was fresh and good. Saturday at 1pm the wait was forever! They made errors on about a third of the orders. When people came up to the counter the staff were indifferent -- no apology, no explanation. They just walked toward the kitchen and started working on it. Once I got my order, one of my drinks fell and broke open. I came back in to that same counter and was met with the same indifferent stare. I paid again for the drink and waited again. When Crispy Banh Mi first came to this location it felt like family and friends were running it. Quality food and good customer service every time. Now not so much. What happened?
