The staff do often provide great care regardless because the job requires so much empathy, but the work is hard, pay is awful, constantly having staffing issues, and management just gets in the way and doesn't listen to staff or residents' feedback. They haven't been able to keep the same manager for years, and it's such a chaotic work environment. But there was no actual abuse or neglect that occurred as far as I'm aware. My biggest impression overall: They care more about making the facility look nice on tours for potential residents than they do about their actual, current residents or staff.

No follow through on PT and OT. Covid within a week of checking-in. Plopped in a wheelchair to atrophy. The memory care director quitting within a few weeks. One outing in nearly a year's time. Athletes foot. Bruises. Open wounds gone unreported. Front desk reception are super nice. Select care staff are super sweet and knowledgeable. The rest are leaving mom to piss herself because there's a shift change or they're in a meeting. I threw out my back toileting her because for over 45 minutes, despite me pressing call buttons and screaming down the hall, no one would help. And corporate are just there for the money. Mom's first week had the cops there to break up a fight and haul a guy away. Subsequent weeks would have men wandering into her room, taking a piss in her toilet, stealing her things, and these same fellas dropping trau in the hallway to take a dump. Not the old fellas fault. The fault of the people who run this sinking ship. Find your loved one an Adult Family Home. Stop giving these greedy corporate b*stards what's left of your family savings.

I was concerned that Laura Cirves had violated my mother's rights. It appears that a similar situation occurred with another resident of For Senior's Sake. I would encourage that person to call and register a complaint at 1-800-562-6078. This is the only way to call a halt to Laura's bullying tactics with her clients and the families of clients. After an investigation by the Aging and Disability Services, Laura was issued 4 citations. 1. Failed practice in the area of care planning. 2. Failure to provide proper notification of changes to services. 3. Failure to provide proper notification to change in fees. 4. Discharging a client without proper cause. Laura was also required to refund a larger amount than she had initially sent to us from the month's rent that we had paid in advance. Unless people follow through in reporting issues like this one with For Senior's Sake, our seniors will continue to get taken advantage of like Laura Cirves tried to do with our mother.

Laura sets a cheerful tone for her house, with superbly clean, pleasant surroundings (fresh flowers, home-y decorations, etc.) . She even makes the meals herself, none of that industrial food. She's extremely conscientious about the complex state regulations, and keeps patient logs that we could track online. Laura patiently spoke with us at all hours in a compassionate, respectful manner--it felt as if we were collaborators in providing dad with the best care possible. In his final days, only Laura could bring a smile to his face, and that says everything. On a practical note, Laura was prompt and responsive when issuing a substantial refund check. The care dad received at For Seniors' Sake brought comfort to our family, knowing he was in such good hands. We feel fortunate to have had such a good experience during such a difficult time.

While they may think it is okay to interfere in peoples lives, I do not take kindly to defamation and character assassination from people whom I have never laid eyes on. I have had to retain legal counsel in order to correct their misinformation and interference in my life and my family's life. Absolutely unacceptable. Take heed and stay the heck away! Although we were very hesitant to make the change to memory care, we couldn't be more delighted with the unit. All the caregivers are excellent and treat us like family. Heck, we feel like family. I have never seen such an array of stimulating and enriching activities that Violet and the exercise and music therapists Diana and Kaiya provide. And it's written all over the residents' faces when they sing and participate. The movement therapist also is excellent and gets everyone moving with great songs! Additionally, the unit brings in special speakers for enrichment learning and other musicians for great song sessions. Overall, we are so pleased with Memory Care and glad we made the move. And from the looks of Dad's face, he is too!

It's very difficult to make a change when one is in their 80s, but the staff and residents at Ida Culver Ravenna went above and beyond. Everything is five star in our book. At Ida Culver you will be surprised to find a warm, welcoming place behind the serious facade on NE 65th. The majority of the facility is older with big picture windows facing either a meditation garden or a beautiful, large sunny garden. This won't fill your needs if you're looking for brand new, McMansion type living. But if you are looking for wonderful spaces, bright and cheerful views, top notch staff with absolutely great communication, you have found the right place for your loved one(s). Soon after our Mom moved into Ida Culver, her health started to decline. The staff of Ida Culver was right on top of it, communicating to us what we didn't always see on our regular visits. Not only was the staff great, the other residents looked after Mom, and communicated to the staff when there was a problem. They were with us in dealing with hospitalization, were with us in dealing with the hospital regarding her care, and were with us for the short term of skilled nursing in order to gain strength. Our Mom will be transitioning to full assisted living, and the nursing staff has been wonderful concerning planning, communicating, and meeting with us. Bravo Ida Culver. It's wonderful to find a place that truly cares about their residents and 100% advocates for the best care possible. They have made this difficult journey that much easier.

Our family has two members currently residing at Ida Culver House. One is totally independent and…read morethe other requires more support. Both are pretty happy with the environment. They both state that they really enjoy the meals and the dining facilities, also the opportunities to socialize with others in a variety of dining options. I am unable to address the costs with any accuracy so I will say I only understand that fees are 'hefty'. But that includes all expenses. The family members support each them with frequent visits and supplement anything they need. At times, the staff is not 100% on the ball and require that we keep check on doctor's orders. It is important to do this since health issues are involved.  There are a variety of activities offered and many residents take advantage of the offerings and state that the choices are outstanding. These activities offer so much, friendships, socialization, enjoyment and much more. The programs are high quality and open to all. So far, the individual apartments are pretty basic. The windows are large and open onto lovely landscaping. Moving in required that each family member had to leave much behind and only bring in a few treasured items to fit into the small apartments. For our family members it is important that we 'supplement' their lives with our support. We do so with love and affection.
