A beautiful lake to visit when in north Wales and somewhere we've been several times. It's four…read moremiles long and one mile wide (the largest lake in Wales in fact) and near to the little town of Bala which is close to its northern end. It's a great lake for watersports of all kinds and kayaks and yachts can be hired locally. It's also a protected wildlife site; there are many species of fish which live in the depths of the lake, including a fish called a gwyniad which is no longer found anywhere else in the UK! The Bala Lake Railway is a narrow gauge steam railway which travels around the eastern banks of the lake. The primary station is at Llanuwchllyn at the southern end and the trip takes about an hour. A marvellous area for walking too.

Walton Hall Park is not the biggest of parks in Liverpool but large enough to say the least! On a…read moresunny day, it is a wonderful place to spend the day with family and friends. If you fancy a picnic, there is plenty of open field space where you can't be noticed or noticed if you wish. The park has one main lake and a smaller pond where you can enjoy fishing or feeding ducks, swans or geese. Having said it is a great day to spend on a sunny day, it is also a great day to spend on a snowy day; back in January's snow flurry, the park had a magnificent white display with lakes turning into an ice rink. The place was beautiful to walk through but naturally hazardous for children and animals. Occasions like this are rare but when the opportunity arises, I would recommend a visit whether sunny or snowy!

I'm not sure how long the track is--possibly a fourth of a mile. Around the edges there are some trees that provide nice shade in the summer months. All in all a clean and pleasant park. :)

We followed a recommended walk around Tal-Y-Lyn lake. We followed woodland walks up through the…read moremountain on the far side left of the lake up towards a steep incline (on the southern flanks of cader idris). We went as far as the farm at the top and down past thefarm and the falls and along the mud tracks to the lake at the bottom. We then walked along the road to get back to our start point. The scenery along the mountains and from the roads were so beautiful. The circular walk took about 3 hours and was about 5 and a half miles. In the summer seasons the nearby pubs and hotels would be open but in winter months it is a great idea to pack a flask and a picnic. I had so much fun along this track and thoroughly recommend it!

Jan 2017 - OK, so the lake is now called Queens and is run by Leigh Angling Association. It is not…read moreas well looked after as some venues, but for me this is half the attaction. That it not to say it is not comfortable to fish - it is, it ha gravel most of the way round and comfortable well spaced pegs (about 16-18 of them). It is just the vegetation is slightly overgrowing, though the small venue means that casting never really is an issue anyway. Fish are clearly healthy and not overfed, I have seen all sorts caught - gudgeon, perch, roach, bream, crucians seem to be there in the right proportions. And of course carp - there is a good stock of fish in the 8-14lb region, enough to keep you busy but not overstocked. The biggest I have seen out of there is 17lb, but I have been told that there are 2 20lbs+ there. Tactics - most seem to work, depending on the day. I have noticed that in the summer they seem to go mad fro krill-based boilies and paste. In the winter, I have been very successsful with corn and boilies (not so much maggots for some reason?), with up to 5 carp in a short 5-6 hour session, and only 2 blanks! People - at it's busiest on a summer weekend, I have never seen more than half of the pegs filled. And that was a one-off! average number of taken pegs in busy times is about 4-5. I guess it's not a really challenging water, with no monsters..with Fan Lodge just down the road too! But the people that are there are extremel friendly, polite and respectful. It is also fairly suited to kids as it is so quiet, plus ther are huge bushes full of blackberries which keeps them extremely busy in the summer!

This was at full testimony on my last walk (Sunday) when the weather had perked up a little as almost half of Bolton had decided to do the same! That could sound quite negative but it's definitely not, theres room and space for all. Most would say it's better when the sun is shining and you don't need to wrap up like you're about to tackle an blizzard on Snowdon, but sometimes it's just as beautiful to walk round when it's bitterly cold and the trees are frosting in stead of blooming. I'm very lucky to have this on my doorstep although I don't utilise it enough. If you're looking for a new walking route or a different reservoir to explore, make the Jumbles your next stop - and call in at my house for a cuppa on your way out!

I would strongly recommend this for age 7 - 10 though smaller ones are able to come along too, height restrictions do apply to certain parts of the adventure courses, so to avoid disappointed I would recommend you go onto their website and check first. This place is all about fun and fitness for the whole family. They have a massive high wire forest adventure course; which is set within the countryside and developed to encourage you to get moving, and trust me by the end you the adventure a good cuppa and sleep is what you'll need, though if it is for the family then keeping the kids active by getting them tired then Jungle Parc is the place to bring them. It is a very safe environment and with all the proper equipment it is very enjoyable. The X-plorer course is for anyone over 1.35m in height and the Adventurer course is for children from 4 years old and with minimum height of 1.05m. The Jungle Parc is situated in Croxteth Country Park which is only 10 minutes from the city centre.

The site is generally an incredible place for outdoor activities for those looking to burn off more than a bit of energy (adults and children alike). The premises consists of two different courses: X-Plorer course and Adventurer course (for the little ones). Each course is ideally designed with a practical element, almost like an assault course but with the fun involved. There are 40 amazing activities to enjoy as you glide through trees on rope bridges, zip lines and cargo! It definitely sounds exciting as it really is. Adults are just £20 and Juniors £15. Prices include full training and all equipment to make sure you are fully prepared and safe. Not bad at all for an adventourous day in jungle like surroundings.
